Those of you who remember, we use to have a developer blog on MMORPG.COM just before the launch of our game. Well today we have an update on our development blog as the blog has been idle since Age of Conan released. We didn’t mean for this to happen but sadly we ran into some issues with keeping it updated while maintaining the launch at the same time. Now that the launch has come and past, we felt it was time to bring it back into the light with the goal of providing yet another great communication channel for everyone to enjoy!
The developer blog not only features a new update but a whole new name as well! We have changed the blogs name from ’Ask Funcom’ to ’Message from the King’ and will remain featured on the MMORPG.COM site. The blog will still continue it’s efforts on featuring upcoming updates, developer chatter, and other assorted community ramblings that seem fitting.
You can find the NEW address as well the latest entry called ’The Resurrection’ featured on MMORPG.COM. You can also More >
Lineage 2: Role Overview: Tanks
Mar 11th
MMORPG.com Lineage II Correspondent Žygimantas Mockus writes this overview of the tanking role in Lineage II.
As we all know Lineage II has a huge variety of classes. To be more specific, I’ll say that Lineage II in total has an incredible amount of 34. So today we’ll try to understand some basic class concepts and what do they exactly do in parties (Party – that’s what groups are called in Lineage II). I’ll be using the names of the second profession, because those are the most common and the largest number of people use/know them.

EverQuest II: Elements of Corruption Tour
Mar 11th
MMORPG.com’s Stephanie Morrow recently took part in a tour of the revamp of the Lavastorm zone in Sony Online Entertainment’s EverQuest II titled Elements of Corruption.
So it was that I found myself invited along on one of the infamous EQ2 tours that I had only read about and had yet to experience first hand. I have to admit, I was quite excited. I was so excited I patched a few hours early and was ready to go (on time, at that). This latest game update (also known as GU51 for those keeping track) is so much more then just an update. EQ2 boasts an evolving and ever-changing world through their live events and this is one that pushes the envelope.
Not only are there physical changes to the zone Lavastorm itself (which you can find off of the Nektulos docks) but there are new quests, instances, gear, recipe books, raids, and a plethora of other goodies coming to the game.

Runescape: More Answers from the Devs
Mar 9th
A month ago the folks at Runescape called on the community for their questions and feedback about the game. Now they’ve posted the latest round of responses to those questions.
Q) Dark armor14 – Are you planning on making any more changes to Summoning? I would really like to see more popular combat places like the lesser pit in Karamja Volcano, Brimhaven Dungeon and other single-way combat areas open to familiars, as I feel the combat aspect of the skill is grossly neglected.
A) Paul – I’d also love to see the combat familiars able to be used in more areas. Allowing familiars to fight in a single-way area has some technical difficulties, though. Switching some areas from single-way combat to multicombat is a possibility, but would have a bunch of other gameplay side-effects such as making the areas more dangerous. Since Summoning, most of the new monster training areas are multicombat training areas that are suitable for bringing familiars. We plan to continue in this vein and add more such training areas.
Mod Mark – That will also include adding new and interesting ways of getting charms, like the recent Soul Wars minigame.
Q) Acejesse13 – Most of the skills end at lower More >
1er Concurso de Eventos de Jugadores de Age of Conan – Hyborian Adventures
Mar 9th
Interview with Game Director - Part II – Hyborian Adventures
Mar 8th
IGN spoke with Game Director Craig Morrison about the past, present and future of Age of Conan. Part 2 of this ’Status Interview’ can now be found on IGN.com.

Jonric: Since it seems pretty significant, what considerations prompted you to overhaul Age of Conan’s RPG systems? What aspects are you concentrating on why?
Craig Morrison: Yes, it was definitely a significant decision, but I think a vital one. As soon as it was apparent last summer that customer retention wasn’t what we would have liked, we set about analyzing all the feedback and getting to the root of the issues – above and beyond the obvious performance ones we were addressing or had already fixed. The player feedback helped us in that respect, and let us look at the system in detail to learn why it wasn’t as appealing as we had hoped. The DirectX 10 version has been on our public test servers for a few months now, being put through its paces. I’m really looking forward to players getting to experience the visual improvements. Age of Conan was designed not to be item-centric. However, our analysis showed we probably More >
The Advocates: Recruitment Update! – Hyborian Adventures
Mar 8th
The recruitment phase of the Advocate program is now over.
<img

/>
The Advocate recruitment process is now over. We have received a large amount of applications from every region and we have been going over those applications for the past few days. This process will take a little more time but we are moving as fast as we can to get those applicants selected and in the program. We will of course factor in some of the community dicussions on voting for players to represent the specific classes when making our choices. That way we can include as much player input on the selections as we possibly can!
Additionally, we are going to kick off the program once those applicants are selected. That way we can have some additional feedback from at least the class representatives for the next big update. It will be very crucial for us to have the Advocates providing input on that update along with the active testlive community.
From there, we will look to recruiting some of the community suggested positions with having an Advocate for role-playing, crafting, player-versus-player, and player-versus-environment.
Check out more information about the program here.

Lineage 2: Looking at Gracia
Mar 6th
MMORPG.com Lineage 2 Correspondent Chris Sides writes this look at the most recent Gracia expansion for NCsoft’s Lineage II.
Lineage 2 had felt like it was down in the dumps until the release of Gracia. The players of Aden love it, NCsoft loves the response from the community, and all this has created a great gaming environment. In this article, I will write about key features of the Gracia expansion, and I will also give my opinion on each feature.
The Gracia expansion has updated Lineage 2 in many fun and exciting ways. This expansion includes: the Vitality System, new skills, Kamaloka, a new hunting ground; and many more updates to existing systems. Some of the updates for the older systems of Lineage 2 include: cheaper armor/weapons, battle system changes, changes to existing skills, changes to PvP, a better pet system, new quests, changes to the interface, and NPC changes. I will talk about the more important of these changes in this article to really show the importance of Gracia

EverQuest II: Elements of Corruption Lore
Mar 5th
Game Update 51: Elements of Corruption will be hitting live servers soon, and the folks at EverQuest II have released a portion of the background lore behind the update.
…And the Nameless created the Gods and the Gods created all the races of Norrath to worship them and bring them honor and for many years all was well. But soon the Gods grew jealous and each coveted the worship of all mortals, that each might grow more powerful than the others. And the Gods of the Light and the Gods of the Dark made common cause against each other and mighty were the battles between them and all Norrath trembled.
Then came the Nameless, He who created all things and He who shall end all things, and He sent forth His avatar into the world saying "Keep thou the balance, that no lesser God shall rise all powerful, and that neither Light nor Dark shall reign supreme." And thus did Roehn Theer the Godslayer come to Norrath and so did the Gods come to fear one who was both less and more than a God and for a short time peace returned to Norrath.
But the Gods wished not for balance and together More >
