Lineage 2: The New Player Experience
Apr 30th
MMORPG.com Lineage II Correspondent Chris Sides writes this article updating our readers on the state of Lineage II’s New Player Experience.
Since 2003, the new player experience in Lineage II ha matured to make it extremely friendly for new players and those that want to rapidly build and level new characters.
When you start a new character, you can get a series of buffs from various NPCs to increase your power and stats. All sorts of NPCs are available as Adventure Guides, telling you what quests are generally available, and where. Characters that are under level ten suffer no experience or chance of losing an item when they die, and actually get new soulbound weapons when a character reaches level six and 20. Decent potions drop much more frequently in the new player hunting zones as well.

Letter from the Game Director April 2009 – Hyborian Adventures
Apr 30th
Its more than a little fitting that as the snow has melted away and given way to some Scandinavian sunshine here in Norway, and as the brighter months approach that we also can look forward to the new changes and updates coming for the game.

Update 1.05 and your feedbackThe versions of 1.05 are progressing nicely on the test server and I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is participating on the test servers for their valuable feedback and involvement. We knew that when we decided to undertake the work of revamping the items and statistics in the game that the public phase of testing would be key, and we are very encouraged by the constructive nature of the feedback and the engagement with the test server community.
The systems team is hard at work going through the feedback, tweaking values and working to improve the new system in each and every build. A lot of that tweaking is much easier with the feedback that we can gather from the test server community, both on the servers themselves, and from the forums. The information that we gather from More >

"Funcom has been on the MMO Industry map for almost a decade. They are known for Anarchy Online, Dreamfall, Age of Conan, and are now starting to release news on their next project, The Secret World. But the company has certainly had its ups-and-downs. Numerous players and critics believed that the company’s most recent title, Age of Conan, was launched too early and suffered from high system requirements, bugs, and lack of content, thus leading to many updates over the past year. Similar problems cropped up when Funcom released their first MMO title, Anarchy Online, too early as well, yet the company has continued to pump time and energy into their still operating first project. Yet current Age of Conan and Anarchy Online players now hail both games as being strong and fun."

I think there were a few issues that contributed to that feeling at the games launch last year and we have worked on those over the last year. More voice-over has been added to the world at large so that it isnt such a jarring difference. We have added more travel options to allow players to get around easier and generally improve the options for navigating the world. So much of that has already been addressed in the updates since launch.
