Warhammer Online: WAR Fiction – A Fistful of Choppas: Chapter 2
May 18th
Wait! Read Chapter One first!
Ghurlak waded into the metal-clad tide of dwarfs with a bloodthirsty roar. The stunties swallowed him up at once, racing around the flanks of their fellows to try and get a shot at the orc’s unprotected back. In the space of a moment Ghurlak was completely surrounded by a sea of shouting, chopping, wild-eyed foes. Hammers thudded into his ribs and pummeled at his thighs; axes chopped at his arms, leaving deep cuts in his thick, waxy skin. The pain set his blood on fire. For the first time ever, Ghurlak felt truly alive.
A dwarf pressed in close at Ghurlak’s left and chopped his axe into the ork’s left shoulder; his thick leather. The keen steel blade sliced through the ox-hide tunic like paper and thunked into the thick flesh and knotted muscle beneath. Ghurlak roared beneath the blow, pain and anger flaring into burning battle-lust. He brought the rock in his left hand around and smashed it into the side of the dwarf’s spangenhelm. Metal crumpled and bone shattered beneath the blow; blood spattered from the eye-slits of the stunty’s helm, and the warrior toppled like a felled oak.

Letter from the Game Director May 2009 – Hyborian Adventures
May 18th
This months letter marks the anniversary of the games launch and its been quite a year by any estimation with more than its fair share of highs and lows. Its kind of hard to reconcile that it has actually been a year already!

Before we get into the all important come on, tell us something about the new stuff that is coming I thought Id take a slight trip down memory lane on a few of the moments that have defined the Age of Conan experience for me personally.
I first heard of the project over five years ago, in the summer of 2004 when, as a freelance editor for IGN, I got to meet some of the folks from Funcom on a press tour in London. They let me in on what their next, then unannounced, project was. That project was Age of Conan, we sat in the hotel bar and talked for hours, (and incidentally was also the first time I saw a prototype demo for what would later become The Secret World!) headed out into Covent Garden and talked some more, and it was that meeting that started the More >

Craig Morrison is not shy about expressing his views on where he believes MMO design should be heading in the future, and in Part One of the interview the topics that are touched upon seemed to continually arrive back at a single point: Why cant MMOs just be fun?
EverQuest II: User Created Books
May 18th
MMORPG.com EverQuest II Correspondent Daniel Stull writes this look at the introduction of user created books into the world of Sony Online Entertainment’s popular MMO.
In the upcoming GU45 update, the Everquest II development team has added a new feature of character flair: user-created books. Now, adventurers across Norrath can record their adventures, budding authors may create their own stories, and more! The news post on the EQ2Players website notes a limit, however, to how much can be placed in a book: “There is no limit to the number of pages, but books are limited by the amount of text. A progress bar will let you know how much more text your book can hold as you are typing.” In further good news, for those perfectionists out there, the writing system can auto-save your writing to your hard drive in case of trouble.

Carta del Director de Juego - Mayo 2009 – Hyborian Adventures
May 18th
