DDO Goes Free-to-Play

Turbine has just released some important news! Starting late this summer, Dungeons and Dragons Online is going "free-to-play" with DDO: Unlimited.
Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited (DDO Unlimited) is the free digital upgrade to DDO, the most exciting MMO with the best combat. DDO Unlimited raises the level cap to the natural D&D© limit of 20, introduces a new class, and makes subscriptions optional with unlimited free play.
The subscription model is a combination of micro-transactions and the "velvet rope" treatment, where items will be available for purchase with real cash at the DDO Store, and certain features such as additional character slots, bank slots, access to certain races and classes will only be available to paid "VIP" subscribers.

Hace una semana que terminó el Salón del Cómic de Barcelona y ahora os traemos un resumen de lo que vivimos ahí.
Tras cuatro días arduos y muy intensos el lunes de la semana pasada pudimos dar por finalizada la asistencia de Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures en el Salón del Cómic de Barcelona. En total repartimos más de 10.000 claves de pruebas de 2 semanas de Age of Conan entre todos los asistentes y el resto de claves, hasta las 15.000 totales, serán distribuidas por Cyber Dark a todos sus compradores hasta agotar existencias. No estaba solo por supuesto, conté con la inestimable ayuda de nuestra guerrera cimmeria, también conocida por los jugadores como xamy, xamana, Antígona y más nombres que le pusieron en el chat.
Mención importante hay que hacer a la excelente y rigurosa cobertura de los 4 días por parte del Noticiero, nuestro más reciente fansite dirigido por Jastro, el cual realizó capturas de pantalla de la transmisión en vivo por webcam que realizamos desde el canal de Age of Conan España de Justin.tv. 7 Promising MMOs That Didn’t Survive the Hype

While the big number of MMORPGs has succeeded in recent years, many of those games could not capture enough interest to keep the game running. Some of them have been shut down even before they came out of development. Here is the list of 7 significant and promising massive multiplayer online games that haven’t survived the initial hype. Asheron’s Call 2 First victim was Asheron’s Call 2: Fallen Kings, a sequel to 1999’s fantasy MMORPG Asheron’s Call. The game was released on November 22, 2002 and shut down three years later, on December 30, 2005 mostly due to lack of sales caused by a poorly coordinated marketing campaign and an insufficient retail presence. Also, game received negative reaction from fans, who were frustrated by the radical changes in gameplay and the game world, claiming that Asheron’s Call 2 was a sequel in name only. Everything from content and graphics to gameplay dynamics was changed greatly from its predecessor, so the fans stayed with the original game.
