Final Fantasy XI: Moogle Kupo d?Etat Walkthrough
Aug 17th
MMORPG.com’s Carolyn Koh writes this report on her experience with a run through of the Final Fantasy XI add-on pack, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat: Evil in Small Doses.
We noticed an Inconspicuous Door and walked through it. I found a Moogle and a cutscene for my character to introduce Final Fantasy XI’s add-on pack, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat: Evil in Small Doses. We witnessed black evil tendrils rise up from the floor of the building, the trapping of the Moogle in an invisible box, and ghostly images filling the room.
For the uninitiated, Moogles are small furry creatures in the Final Fantasy universe with a little red pom-pom of fur which sits on the end of a "wire" protruding from their heads. Imagine a little dough-boy like character with ridiculously tiny wings and a pom-pom above their heads. Able to fly, they watch your Moghouse (player housing) and tend your garden (if you have one) while you are out adventuring. They also tend to administer many of the events and festivals in Vana’diel. "Kupo" is their trademark exclamation and Square Enix plays on the phrase "coup d’Etat" for the title of this adventure & story add-on pack which is about a Moogle More >

City of Heroes: Depth of Customization
Aug 14th
MMORPG.com City of Heroes Correspondent Cecil Adkins writes this look at the depth of customization in Paragon Studios’ City of Heroes franchise.
From the beginning, Paragon Studios’ City of Heroes has been known and praised for one thing above all else: its incredible array of customization options. These range in scope from something as simple as choosing the exact color you’d like your cape to be, to as complex as making your very own missions and bad guys to fight.
No game before or since has had anywhere near the same ability as City of Heroes to make your character appear just as you would like him or her to appear. City of Heroes’ costume creator was and continues to be an unparalleled gem in the MMORPG world. The character creator in Champions Online, due out soon from City of Heroes’ original development studio, may end up rivaling that of its predecessor, but that won’t take away from City of Heroes’ achievement.

City of Heroes: Issue 16: Super Sidekicking Explained!
Aug 13th
Among the many awesome things coming to City of Heroes in Issue 16 is yet another new feature: Super Sidekicking. This new system was revealed in an announcement made by Positron on the official City of Heroes forums.
The upgraded sidekicking system will allow for players to raise or lower everyone on the team to the mission owners level. In addition, Super Sidekicking will also bring changes to the exemplar system, as exemplared characters will now gain experience as well.
Since the new system will automatically bring everyone to the mission owners level, this will also serve to eliminate bridging. Bridging is a practice many players use to powerlevel by getting a lower level mentor to bring a characters sidekick level to just at the edge of the range required to gain experience at all. This means when the rest of the team (which is higher in level) is killing the mobs, which are often times +7 or +8 levels above the bridged character, he’ll get the most experience possible, and thus level up significantly faster.
Players who wish to only earn influence while exemplaring, akin to the current system, will also have this option, and will earn extra influence for doing so. More >
City of Heroes: Power Set Proliferation – Issue 16
Aug 13th
The folks from NCsoft have provied us with this developer journal focusing on Powerset Proliferation in the upcoming Issue 16 update to City of Heroes. The journal is written by Senior Designer Floyd Grubb.
For Issue 16: Power Spectrum, we wanted to proliferate more powersets; at least one per archetype. In looking at which sets to shift around, there were a number of considerations that had to be examined. There wasn’t a specific rule, it was more the circumstances of development which really guided the decisions. As the art team was busy with Powerset Customization, we tried to stay away from sets that required too much animation or FX work. We also wanted to fill in matching Themes where we could, like with adding Assault Rifle and Traps to Defenders. In other instances we wanted to fill in highly requested options, such as adding Claws to Brutes. In the end though, there are just far too many aspects to cover individually, but I’d definitely like to highlight some examples.
