Star Wars: The Old Republic: Game Testing vs. Beta Testing
Sep 30th
Did we (meaning our site and all the many other outlets) make a mistake in our reporting that "Beta" sign ups had begun yesterday for Star Wars: The Old Republic?
I’m not so sure; but it appears BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic Community Manager, Sean "Ashen Temper" Dahlberg, is making a distinction between Game Testing and Beta Testing in a post on the game’s official forums, pointing out that BioWare has not announced anything on "beta testing" yet:
I would like to point out that we are doing Game Testing sign-ups; we have not done any announcements about "beta" testing. As specified in the original article, the Game testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic will be rolled out in several phases over an extended period of time. These test phases will begin with smaller, tightly focused test groups, and later tests will expand.
It looks like there is a distinction between beta and game testing. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

World of Warcraft: Guide to UI Customization
Sep 30th
Today we have a guide on how to make your UI your own from one of our World of Warcraft correspondents.
Being able to customize your user interface is an integral part of any MMORPG and World of Warcraft does not lack this. There are many talented add-on makers who release add-ons that improve their own personal game play and then make it public so the rest of us have a chance of improving ours. Everyone I know who has played Warcraft for at least a few months has a minimum of two add-ons in the game which shows just how important they have become to us all. In this article I look at how over the years players have become more dependent on the use of modifications to improve their game play and make it easier for them to be good at their class, there is no escaping the army of add-ons that await in World of Warcraft.

Meet the Recon: In-Depth Interview on Global Agenda’s Stealth and Infiltration Specialists
Sep 30th
Executive Producer Todd Harris sat down this week with TenTonHammer for a detailed review of the Recon class within Global Agenda.
Some excerpts are below, but be sure to read the entire article.
Ten Ton Hammer: It’s natural to think of the recon class as a bunch of snipers, but recon is a lot more than just headhunting through a scope in Global Agenda. What are the various roles the recon class performs?
Todd Harris: Recon is definitely a very versatile class. Probably the easiest way to explain recon is to tell you how some of the different people here in the studio play the class. One of the tasks recon is particularly good at is hunting the beacon of the other team. In Global Agenda, both teams in PvP have a beacon, which is basically a chance for a forward spawn for their team. They only have one; the entrance to the beacon is in their drop ship or defensive spawn area and then they place the beacon aggressively in the map. That allows players to step through and make a big difference between winning and losing. Since recon can go stealth and easily get behind enemy lines, hunting the other team’s beacon is More >
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures: Staff Cuts Will Not Delay Godslayer
Sep 30th
Yesterday, we reported on a 20% cut to staff at Funcom that also came with the comment that Funcom’s upcoming horror themed MMOG, The Secret World, would indeed be delayed several months due to these changes.
The report left many of us wondering if these changes would also have an affect on the release of Age of Conan’s upcoming Rise of the Godslayer expansion. Today, a Funcom spokesperson speaking to Jamie Davey of Strategy Informer reassures us that the recent cuts will have "little to no effect" on the release of Rise of the Godslayer.
