Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Status Update
Sep 16th
MMORPG.com’s Carolyn Koh spoke recently with WAR producer Destin Bales about the current status of the game and what Mythic is working for for the future.
Producer Destin Bales of Warhammer Online was on hand at PAX this year to provide a brief update of the game and what Mythic Studios has been doing. No big reveals, no sneak peeks, but a lot about their one-year anniversary and what they were doing for it. At PAX, they had an area with comfortable couches and coffee tables with the WAR logo on them, covered with buttons, which disappeared quickly into swag bags.
"It’s our one-year anniversary and we are celebrating all through the month of September," said Destin, "and the Wild Hunt is the largest live event we’ve ever done."

Interesting things come out of Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick’s mouth, especially his latest predictions.
Some industry executives do have a habit of spewing nonsense or just troubling (and revealing) insights. Kotick’s latest tease has to do with Blizzard’s next MMO, which he says will not be the same fantasy setting as World of Warcraft, with elves and orcs. That does seem to be the MMORPG trend as of late, moving away from the medieval fantasy world.

Launch Info
Here is a pre-alpha look at some of the things I can confirm we will see with Final Fantasy XIV. Let’s start with the biggest question I have been hearing from a lot of people. What is going to happen to Final Fantasy XI? I can confirm that Final Fantasy not only will remain supported by Square Enix, I can also tell you that a new lead developer has been hired to continue working on Final Fantasy XI. If anyone was worried about it, you can rest assured that XI will remain a focus for Square Enix.

Guild Wars 2: Preview Interview
Sep 14th
MMORPG.com’s Carolyn Koh was at this year’s Penny Arcade Expo. While there, she spoke with Mike O’Brien and Daniel Dociu about their upcoming MMORPG, Guild Wars 2.
The first thing Mike O’Brien, ArenaNet Studio Head and Co-founder said to me was, "Guild Wars 2 – Still Free!" when we spoke about Guild Wars 2 at PAX 2009. At this point in game development, there were not a lot of details they could speak of, but instead of giving out signed posters of Guild Wars art this year, they were giving out a beautiful hard-cover art-book of the art of Guild Wars 2. One book per attendee.
ArenaNet is justifiably proud of their game art team and their accomplishments, having won many awards over the years from prestigious juried competitions such as Into the Pixel, Ballistic, Expose and Spectrum Fantastic Art.

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures: PAX Rise of the Godslayer Demo
Sep 11th
Carolyn Koh was at PAX. While there, she met up with Funcom’s Craig Morrison to talk about the upcoming Conan expansion, Rise of the Godslayer.
The Age of Conan expansion, Rise of the Godslayer is based in the land of Khitai. A land imagined by Robert E. Howard the creator of Conan the Cimmerian as an exotic land of 9,999 gods, a rich, influential land in the Far East. Funcom has interpreted that as a land, peoples and architecture reminiscent of Ancient China and influenced by a romantic, folkloric European view of Chinese culture. Khitai is a land that Conan visited as a young thief, seeking a gem of fable. Instead, he found an alien being of power which had been bound by the wizards to do their bidding, and worshipped as a God by the faction. Out of mercy, he killed it as it begged him, and in turn, Conan earned the enmity of a powerful sect.
