Star Trek Online: Cinematic War Trailer
Oct 26th
A new Star Trek Online trailer is available for viewing over at GameVideos. The new trailer opens with the history of the establishment of the Federation in order to pursue to the peaceful discovery of new species and worlds, but quickly reminds us that "even those who strive for peace, must be prepared for war," and switches to some high-octane combat footage involving tons of ships, and even Borg cubes, but more importantly, a good dosage of ground combat, something we’re seeing more and more of lately.
Check out the new trailer here!
UPDATE: This trailer was actually shown last year, we apologize for the confusion. It is not new, but we are leaving the news story up for those who may have not seen the trailer yet.
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Grab Bag #23: Daemon Moon Rising
Oct 26th
The 23rd entry to the long running Warhammer Online Grab Bag series fields questions on the upcoming Halloween event, Daemon Moon Rising.
The majority of the questions asked in this issue of the grab bag center around the various mask rewards in Daemon Moon Rising, such as whether they will be tradeable, the types of bonuses or abilities they confer, and how to acquire some of the more coveted masks such as the Leather Face or Face-Eater (yummy!) Mask.

Warhammer Online: AP Regen and You!
Oct 26th
"AP should be a pool, not an ocean." – Gett of Dark Crag
Action Points are something that effects everyone who plays WAR. Healers, Damage Dealers and Tanks all use Action Points, so it is only natural that when something changes about the way the system works, there is going to be concern, discussion and possibly confusion.
To help better explain what’s going on with the current state of Action Points in WAR, the Community team reached out to the Combat & Careers Team Lead, Nate Levy, for insight into the recent bug fixes affecting AP Regeneration.
For more information, read on!
So Nate, something seems different with the way my Action Points Regenerate since 1.3.2.
Nate: As most of you know, we fixed some bugs relating to Action Point regeneration recently, correcting a problem which had temporarily led to many people having "infinite AP." Action Points are a core combat mechanic in WAR, and the bugs which prevented a character’s AP from being correctly paced lead to undesirable reductions in kill times, making combat less about tactics, timing, and coordination, and more about simply slamming a single ability as fast as possible. These bug fixes will create a much better game-play experience More >

City of Heroes: Going Rogue Information Blow Out!
Oct 26th
The HeroCon Keynote Address was a veritable blow out of information and footage of City of Heroes/Villains’ upcoming expansion, Going Rogue. The team at Cape Radio were on hand to film the address and Cape Radio’s Vange1us has posted the full three part keynote on YouTube.
To start out, there will be a new starting area called Praetoria which will run content from around 1-20. Players who create new characters can choose between Hero, Villain, or Praetorian, but Praetorian characters will ultimately have to make a choice as to whether they want to be a Hero or Villain. There will be ample opportunities for Praetorian characters to sample both sides throughout their progress, as well. Praetoria is also designed from the ground up with entirely new assets. They’ve built new roads, buildings, etc for the zone and it looks nothing like previous City of Heroes zones, including the lack of war walls!
Praetoria will also be home to the Praetorian signature heroes, who have all received a makeover and are sporting some snazzy new looks. You’ll even get to encounter Tyrant when he’s not all dolled up in shiny armor. There will also be new enemy groups in Praetoria, including Praetorian clockwork, More >
Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited: Executive Producer’s Letter to Players
Oct 26th
DDO Executive Producer Fernando Paiz addresses the community in this latest Letter to the Players. The letter discusses the boom in activity DDO has seen since the launch of the free-to-play model with Eberron Unlimited, and gets into details on Update 1, the game’s first update since its relaunch.
Update 1 will allow players to create new characters at Level 4 which is known as "Veteran Status", which can be unlocked with 1000 favor, and a new Epic difficulty setting for the game’s instanced dungeons.
Launching alongside Update 1 will be a new high-level adventure pack called "The Path of Inspiration," which pit players against a nefarious cult that is kidnapping Stormreach’s citizens and trapping them in the plane of nightmares. The new pack will also feature a number of new environments, monsters, and gameplay elements.
Also mentioned in the letter is an upcoming feature known as Reincarnation. Reincarnation will allow players some interesting options with their characters, ranging from anything to the long-demanded re-spec option, to allowing players some sort of end-game reroll.
Find out more on what’s in store for DDO in the full letter.
I spent some time with my friends in DDO this weekend. Free definitely lowers the barrier to entry, and More >
Anti-‘76k’ing Measures – news from RuneScape
Oct 26th
As many of you know, since the opening of PvP Worlds, 76king has become a very common practice. Weve never been happy about this as we believe it spoils the game experience for players who want to play on PvP Worlds as intended and exhibit their PvP skills, with high rewards for high risks, rather than it being a safe method for earning large amounts of money. Looking at our forums, it looks like many players feel the same way.
Designing and developing a solution to this issue that worked, but which did not lessen the rewards for legitimate kills, turned out to be rather tricky. Were hopeful that the solution weve come up with will reduce 76King without having too significant an impact on legitimate PKers.
Players who trade kills will find that the drop they receive is lessened in value. Legitimate PKers might find that some of their kills will result in smaller drops (e.g. when getting revenge on someone who has just killed you), but since youll still only lose as much Earning Potential as is used for the drop, your average drop will stay the same.
