Star Trek: Online has two different gameplays for ground and space sections
Nov 25th
Sitting in for an interview with Gamerzines, Craig Zinkievich of Cryptic Stuio reveals that Star Trek: Online will be featuring completely different gameplays for both the ground and space sections. That’s practically like getting two games in one.
The universe is immense. There are over 400 hours of Star Trek TV shows and movies out there, and almost every one of them has a new reference to an alien species or location that’s someone’s favourite. When we sat down, as Star Trek fans, and listed out everything that we wanted to see in Star Trek Online – it was HUGE.
He continues:
When you think about Star Trek there is no way to separate the image of the iconic starships from the away team exploring an alien landscape. We knew right off the bat that we’d have to make both the space and ground experiences. That’s two games right there!
And two games you’ll get, indeed, in one spacey little package. The voyage begins in February 2010, so get your space suits ready.

China continues crackdown on online games, gives out tighter regulations
Nov 25th
China’s fight against online games doesn’t seem to be done with just World of Warcraft. The Ministry of Culture has just released an official order for online game operators to add in more socialist flavors into their games. What’s more, they have to hire specialized staff to monitor the content of the game.
Said the MoC in an official statement, "Over the year, China’s online game industry has grown at a rapid pace. But the current product offerings are not up to standard and the cultural content is lowbrow and having a negative effect on the healthy development of the industry."
How many of these operators will comply, and how many will lose heart over this tightening regulations of the Chinese government?

Watch: Not-so-gratuitous space battles in EVE Online: Dominion trailer
Nov 25th
EVE Online players who are on the up and up know to watch out for the Dominion expansion next week. Those who are still on the fence may be swayed by this rather awesome new trailer that CCP Games has put up.
Dominion is the 11th expansion for EVE Online. It focuses squarely on overhauling the alliance warfare sovereignty mechanics and introduces pirate epic arcs. Space battles up the wazoo, y’all. Just don’t expect them to be anywhere as exciting as the one in the vid.
Dominion will launch Tuesday, December 1st.

Bill Roper talks powers in Champions Online
Nov 25th
Two of the biggest aspects of Champions Online are easy to point out: the character creator and the wide selection of powers. Certainly it’s not the first game to use a classless system by a long shot, but the visual and immediate nature of power selection and the cosmetic effects of those choice are a big part of the game’s distinctiveness. So it’s hard not to be interested when Bill Roper sits down and talks with MMOCrunch about which powers he thinks worked excellently out of the gate and which onces were a bit less impressive.
Bill gushes quite enthusiastically about powers such as Force Cascade, Killer Instinct, and Thermal Reverberation — powers that encourage alternate playstyles or different combinations of abilities. He’s also enthusiastic about Uppercut and Haymaker, which he feels have an excellent payoff if they’re used successfully and force the player to think more carefully. On the flipside, passive offensive powers don’t have nearly enough effect, Chain Lightning tries to encourage alternate approaches but fails to do so, and summoning doesn’t mesh nicely with the game’s core play aspects. Roper also talks about what’s being planned for the underwhelming powers to help bring them more in line, as More >
