Star Wars: The Old Republic: HoloNet Update: The Imperial Agent

Last week we reported on the first details and images of Star Wars: The Old Republic’s sixth class: the Imperial Agent. Today, the official SW:TOR website has updated the HoloNet section with the full Imperial Agent reveal.
From the sound of it, the class isn’t entirely ranged, as the HoloNet’s description reveals, "Though striking from a distance or from the shadows plays to the Agent’s strengths, a well-equipped operative is more than capable of evading his enemies when necessary or moving in close to quietly slide a blade between an opponent’s ribs."

City of Heroes: Matt Miller on Balancing Ranged vs Melee

Today, we ask paragon Studios’ Matt Miller about his philosophies on attempting to balance ranged and melee combat styles in an MMO.
In City of Heroes we had to take great strides to make a melee class feel like they are not over-shadowed by ranged blasters. Being able to strike from range is an advantage that is difficult to put a numerical statistic to, but we increased the damage that a pure-melee character does over a ranged one. This is an area where we decided to err on the side of the player, as that damage increase is probably too strong, but in the end having it as strong as it is gives a real incentive for a player to try out a melee archetype.

Machinima Competition – Excl’s Visit – news from RuneScape

Over the Summer, we ran our biggest competition to date in the form of the RuneScape Machinima Competition. The top prize was a trip to Jagex to come and hang out with us for a few days.
Excl was the winner of that top prize, and so, last week, we had the pleasure of his company. Now hes back home safe and sound, hes taken the time to write up a summary of his trip to share with you all, which we’ve published in this blog.

These cards are also available in the United States, and they can be found in branches of Target, 7-Eleven, Wal-Mart and Rite-Aid. We are hoping to launch these convenient cards in more countries in the future, so keep an eye on Recent News for updates.
Concours Machimina – Visite de Excl – nouvelles de RuneScape

Durant lété, Jagex a lancé le plus grand concours de son histoire sous la forme dune compétition de vidéos (Machimina). La récompense attribuée au vainqueur était un voyage à Cambridge et une visite de nos locaux.
Comme vous le savez, cest Excl qui la emporté. Nous avons donc eu le plaisir de le rencontrer la semaine dernière. Im Sommer 2009 hatten wir unseren bislang größten Wettbewerb veranstaltet: den RuneScape Machinima-Filmpreis. Der Hauptpreis war eine Reise nach England, um die Leute bei Jagex kennenzulernen.
