In less than two weeks since it was uploaded, War of Internet Addiction, a movie filmed by a band of Chinese netizens has mustered instant popularity across China. The storyline is based on the raging battle between The 9 and NetEase over the operating rights for World of Warcraft in China Mainland, while dotted with rehearsing of many domestic hotspot events for 2009, both in and out of the cyber space. Apart from the hilarious elements, the movie openly airs out deep frustration toward the status quo, a feeling dominant among Chinese mainland players of World of Warcraft. CornDog, producer of the movie, voiced his intention to rectify the reputation for the huge number of Chinese mainland players of World of Warcraft. The message is clear: they are not Internet addictives who lose their aspirations in games.

Starting on Monday, February 1st, Mortal Online opens it’s doors to the public with an open beta. The whole gaming community is invited to step in the wonderful world of Nave. Join Mortal and experience a fantasticly immersive, beautiful and brutal sandbox MMORPG. To join the open beta, simply visit the official website. Download the client, install and play. The open beta will run on one cluster server based in Stockholm (Sweden). Please keep in mind that, depending on the onslaught of new players, we will have to cap the server at a certain point.

Chinese new year and valentine’s day in Metin 2

Metin 2, announced today an exciting line-up of events in honor of Valentine’s Day and the Chinese New Year.
Event 1: Lunar New Year (Feb. 2-15) New Year Cakes are extremely potent and can fully restore HP, MP, or Stamina! Players will visit the “Old Lady” where she will give hersecret recipe, so they can gather up ingredients and whip up their own love cake for that special someone. All of the needed materials canbe acquired through monsters.
Event 2: Lunar Greeting (Feb. 6-8) To mark the year of the Golden Tiger, Metin2 is giving all of its players Lucky Red Pockets to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Red Pockets are traditionally given out during celebrations such as the Chinese New Year. The color red is chosen for its lucky properties and the pocket usually contains money or gifts. Players can get their Red Pocket by talking to the Old Lady. All players need to do is right-click the Red Pocket given by the Old Lady and enjoy the Lunar New Year!
