Arcane Brilliance: Patch 3.3.3 PTR changes for mages
Feb 27th
It’s time again for Arcane Brilliance, the weekly mage column that wants to point out that while gnomes often come up…er…short…when compared to the other races, they do have one special feature that always looks larger by comparison. Their spells are huge! Wait…what did you think I was talking about?
So anyway. It’s always an exciting time around here when a new patch hits the PTR. We all wake up, head down to the living room and gather beneath the tree to open our presents. Sometimes the bounty is rich, and we reap a choice harvest of new content and features. Other times the crop is more meager. And while patch 3.3.3 doesn’t seem to have brought with it the largest pile of new stuff we’ve ever seen, it’s turning out to be a bit more generous than I’d have previously suspected.
Yes, for those of us who play this game, a new patch is just like Christmas. You just never know what you’re going to get. Will that gaily wrapped parcel contain an N64? Or a hideous sweater? A huge buff? Or a soul-crushing nerf? Let’s all head over to the PTR together and start unwrapping, shall we?

Wind Rider Cub and Gryphon Hatchling image gallery
Feb 27th
Though it took longer than expected to receive them and FedEx decided it was a wise idea to throw them into the mound of snow next to my well-shoveled porch rather than placing them on the porch or (gasp!) ringing the doorbell so I could accept them myself, my house now has two new guests. The Gryphon Hatchling and Winder Rider plushies now have resting places atop my significant other’s desk, where they stand vigilant to inflict cuteness on whoever may need it. In the gallery at the bottom of this post, you’ll find a number of pictures of them, held by my little sister because there simply wasn’t enough cute in the plushies alone.
Like most licensed Blizzard products, these plushies are very high quality. I was almost surprised by the amount of work put into the little details. The necklaces (bibs? zoo-tabards?) worn by the plushies are embroidered. They’re not screen-printed felt or anything like that, so I don’t expect they’ll come apart anytime soon. The plushies also shipped in individual drawstring bags to carry and store them in, so they’re not exposed to the elements when you inevitably shove them in your closet because really, are you going More >

Weekend of the Necromancer – Advocate’s View
Feb 27th
Month Weekend of the Necromancer! Since FC is currently extremely busy with the upcoming expansion, we were unable to provide you with dev-side goodies like exclusives and new videos or screenies. However, we were able to secure an Advocate interview with Necromancer’s Advocate… So it’s not exactly a “Necromancer’s Month” but rather a “Necromantic Weekend”, but it’s still interesting to find out what’s the middle ground between the always unhappy (players) and the always overworked (devs) in AOC, i.e. the Advocates’ opinion. Read the full interview with Abraham “Abesworth” Wingrove, Necromancer Advocate from TYRANNY (US) here!.
[Opinion] Global Agenda por Luis Quesada
Feb 27th
Around Azeroth: Everybody wants to be a cat
Feb 27th
Druids are the new black — or at least they will be in Cataclysm, when there’ll finally be two more races available to people who want to play a druid, but aren’t particularly keen on being a purple, pointy-eared freak or an ungainly furry. (*Ducks incoming flames.*) Kristy-Leigh loves druids so much that she’ll even hang out in Moonglade just to be in the company of her brethren. When a bunch of cat druids get together, do you think they all like to sleep in the sun like real cats?
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We’d love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word “Azeroth” in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing — use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val’kyr More >
Virtual Reality in MMOs
Feb 27th
By JD Suddarth I’m JD, I’m a Game Designer. I’m 19 years old, and I love MMOs.
So, me and a friend were having a huge discussion on the idea of Virtual Reality becoming possible in MMOs and games, and how it would be done. Now, when we talk about Virtual Reality, we think of being in the game, being able to visualize, and hear in the game, feeling like we are IN the game. However, we took it one step forward, what about being able to use your senses in the game? We started off talking about the technology required to use all five senses in the game. Science fiction films come to mind, with us seeing the stereotypical headset, and of course the suit, but what about something as simple as a headband? Or something that fixes to your temples as easily as your headphones going on your ears? What would this require? We’ve all seen the movie “The Matrix” I’m sure, and with Neo and all of them getting plugged into the system through a plug on their neck. Most people just viewed this as grotesque and unrealistic, but consider a crystalline electrode that can read More >
Next Asassins Creed Will have ’justified’ Multiplayer
Feb 27th
Next Asassins Creed Will have “justified” MultiplayerBy DryoThis is Carlos “DRYO” Riojas and here’s a guy who has a passion for concept art, Movies, and writing, likes to do fun stuff, and active fun stuff, plays collage table tennis, and likes to hang out with their friends, either have something to eat or play some games as long as he’s hanging out. He hopes one day Nintendo makes a new Zelda Four swords game(which it’s based on his favorite Zelda game).Right now he’s taking a Major on Industrial Design at University of Monterrey,Mexico
To keep it simple, according to Kotaku, they will add a full single player campaign following Ezios return to Rome, that’s right, you will play as the AC2 hero, but what It doesn’t seem right, is the fact that they’ve lost several awards to uncharted 2 made Ubisoft developers concerned over it, like if for some reason they need to win awards in order to do a perfect game.

The game got released after uncharted 2, there is no excuse over why it didn’t won lots of awards, games are developed for a reason, to entertain, challenge the player to make decisions etc., and If they are More >
WRUP: What you’d like to see next edition
Feb 27th
It’s the weekend again — which can only mean it’s time for an escape from the tedious grind of the working week — to replace it with the tedious grind of our favorite video games! For us, you might assume our favorite game is World of Warcraft, but the team is all over the map on gaming preferences. Some of us are still lost in Mass Effect 2 others have moved on to BioShock 2, some of us are in the StarCraft II beta, and some of us are — gasp! — flirting with other MMOs while waiting for the next big thing in WoW. As a show of our gaming diversity, as well as checking in on what the WoW.com team is playing this weekend, I’ve asked what features from other games they’d like to see in WoW. For their answers — and to add your own — read on!
