Brief des Game Directors Februar 2010 – Hyborian Adventures
Feb 19th
Was liegt vor uns?

Patch 3.3.5: Assault on the Ruby Sanctum
Feb 19th
Just the other day we linked to a GameInformer article in which Tom Chilton mentions a new raid coming soon that would take place in the Ruby Sanctum. To make sure there is no confusion around this, Zarhym hit the forums to tell us exactly what this raid will be.
A powerful war party of the Black Dragonflight, led by the fearsome Twilight dragon, Halion, have launched an assault upon the Ruby Sanctum beneath Wyrmrest Temple. By destroying the sanctum, the Black Dragonflight look to crush those that would stand in the way of their master’s reemergence into Azeroth and to ultimately shatter the Wyrmrest Accord – the sacred bond that unites the dragonflights.
The battle that is to come will surely deal a crippling blow to the Red Dragonflight, however, it is up to you to stop this unprecedented offensive and defend the Ruby Sanctum. First you must face the assault of Halion’s servants, Saviana Ragefire, Baltharus the Warborn, and General Zarithrian, before squaring off against Halion the Twilight Destroyer, a new and deadly force in this realm.
The Ruby Sanctum will feature 10- and 25-player content, Heroic difficulties and all-new rewards! Stay tuned for more information as we get More >
Letter from the Game Director - February 2010 – Hyborian Adventures
Feb 19th
With players enjoying the 1.06 update, Guild Renown and the new raids this months letter gives me the opportunity to reveal a little about the immediate future, the expansion updates and a couple of significant changes coming your way.
The road aheadWhile the expansion is the next major addition to the game, there will be a maintenance update up next to prepare the live servers for the upcoming expansion. This will take the form of the 1.07 update for the live servers. Now unlike most major updates most of the new stuff in this update is under the hood as it were, the updates required for us to release the expansion. It will allow us to put some of the systems in place ahead of the expansion.
There are lots of new code systems that have to be integrated and prepared, both on an account level (allowing us to see who is an expansion player and who isnt for example) as well as on a gameplay level.
While we havent announced just yet the actual launch date pending the finalization of the pre-order offers and sales plans, the expansion itself will More >
The Queue: The Kweh
Feb 19th
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com’s daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today. So how many people do you know that pronounce it “kweh” instead of “kyoo”? All it does is give me chocobos on the brain.

“When WotLK came out the design of the Chamber of Aspects seemed to imply that there would be at least five bosses, with one for each flight, as there are five gate points which all have two guardians of each flight. (Though the question remains as to why, as mortals, we’d even want to fight against the last three good-aligned dragonflights.) But over a year later with talk of Cataclysm coming soon we still only have The Obsidian Sanctum as an encounter there. Is there any indication of expanding the raid content within the Chamber in the future?”
The Chamber of the Aspects was, I believe, an area that was added as a contingency plan in case there needed to be some emergency raid content — dragon encounters are comparatively easy to whip up compared to others, and the entrance area is already there.
Tom Chilton recently indicated that we More >

A New Look for DOFUS 2.0
Feb 19th
You may have noticed it’s been a little while since there’s been a new update to DOFUS 2.0. It’s because we’ve been preparing something extra special for this update – the new DOFUS 2.0 interfaces are about to arrive!
Besides improvements to the legibility of all the game interfaces, we’ve prepared another graphic upgrade for the DOFUS 2.0 CLIENT, interface themes! Now, you can choose between basic black or the familiar beige tones of DOFUS 1.29!
Interfaces aren’t the only things that have been improved in this new version, though! Many bugs have been corrected and we’ve added several modifications aimed at improving the game’s performance. Also, please note the new options for managing the game’s visual quality and scenery caching which, when enabled, can considerably speed up the loading time between game maps.
All of the details of this update will be available next week, when the most recent changelog will be published.
See you on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 for this new version of DOFUS 2.0!
New Expansion Location Revealed, "Kara Korum"! – Hyborian Adventures
Feb 19th
Discover the new backstory and area known as, "Kara Korum", as well hints of what new challenges and monsters awaits you!
"Something wicked lives in the desert, something twists everything and everyone. Legend says that the black crater is like a scab, bleeding its pus into the world, poisoning it. Have you seen the people that live there, pale as ghosts, with broken bodies? Have you seen the trees big as mountains? Have you seen the children hunting for human flesh? Nature itself has become perverted. There is an evil out there that is better left alone." -Kara Korum fisherman
Climb the trees as big as mountains. Listen to the deafening silence of the statues of black glass, frozen in their mute screams, outside of the Obsidian Temple. Visit the villages where madness can be passed like a sickness. The balance has been broken, corrupted by the crater which pulses at the heart of the region. Most of the playfield is rocky ground, cliffs and mountains…

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Threatening
Feb 19th
Yes, I still owe you an enchant, gem and glyph 101. However, I want to really get all my ducks in a row for it and cover both PvP and PvE glyph choices for all three specs. As one example of how complicated it can get, if you’re running exclusively in five man content, you’ll use different glyphs for your prot set than if you’re raid tanking. I personally switch glyphs several times a day (in fact, my glyph switching has become what respeccing was before dual specs, a necessary step for different tanking situations) – I tend to use Devastate, Cleaving and Heroic Strike as my 5 man majors while I still use Last Stand, Shield Wall and either Vigilance or Taunt for raids. (Sometimes I mix these up and use Heroic Strike or Devastate for my raid glyphs as well.)
Meanwhile, I use arms as my PvP spec and fury as my PvE spec, so in addition to re-speccing every time I intend to do some battlegrounds, I have to put in all new glyphs and even have an entirely different set with different stat weights and gems (for instance, a lot of my armor pen gear has More >
