Learn the basics of Diablo III gameplay
May 15th
Since Diablo II was released 12 years ago, it’s safe to say that Diablo III will be the first Diablo title many people will have ever played. It’s one of the most anticipated titles of the season and is attracting countless new players to the genre. We’ve received a number of questions asking how this game is even played — and if it has anything in common with your favorite MMOs.
We have you covered.
The core of Diablo gameplay is the mouse click. You do everything from combat to looting to movement with your mouse, and your interactions with your keyboard are extremely minimal overall. On Twitter recently, many Diablo diehards have mentioned they were buying a new mouse specifically to use with Diablo III — and that’s not a bad idea. No, we’re not talking a brand-new $80 Razer Naga; we’re talking some $10 to $15 thing you can pick up off of a department store shelf. You want a mouse that you’re not going to mourn when your buttons inevitably give out from the mountain of abuse you’re about to unleash upon them. Grab something cheap and disposable so that when it dies, you will consider it a victory More >
RIFT introduces three-faction PvP with Conquest
May 15th
If you need some RIFT USA gold, please click here.
RIFT players have been speculating about what the much-hyped but little-revealed PvP announcement for the title would be, but now it’s official: RIFT is bringing out three-faction warfare. In a post on the RIFT official site, Trion Worlds has introduced the Conquest PvP mode, which is a “no-holds-barred, interdimensional battle” in which players can choose from one of three factions (the power-hungry Dominion, the noble Oathsworn, and the knowledge-seeking Nightfall) and take part in a three-way battle to answer one poignant question: “What is the role of the Ascended in the cosmos? To rule, to protect, or to ascend?”
Players eager to become a part of the Conquest won’t have to wait long. This Thursday, May 17th, at at 7:00 EDT, Trion will be bringing Conquest to the public test server. All you have to do to get on the action yourself is head on over to the game’s PTS “getting started” page and follow the instructions, and voila. So get out there and prepare for war, Ascended; it’s time to conquer!
Diablo 3: The Wait is OVER
May 14th
Today is an epic day in gaming history with the arrival (finally!) of Blizzard's Diablo III. We have a few thoughts to share about why this is an epic day, an important day and, most importantly, a GAMER'S DAY! See why we say that and then leave us your thoughts in the comments.
Diablo, the first one, I mean, was the first computer game I’d ever played. Up to that point in my life, I had avoided computers as a “fad” if you can actually believe it. But by the time I finally succumbed, I was ready for gaming. Of all the unlikely people to be playing a video game, my dad, a 60+ man, told me about Diablo. Of course, seeing how much he was playing and how fun it looked, I went out and got my own copy. The rest is, as they say, history.

Age of Conan: Unchained: Fourth Anniversary Interview with Craig Morrison
May 14th
It's hard to believe that it's been four years (on May 18th) since Funcom's Age of Conan launched. We caught up with Game Director Craig Morrison to talk about where AoC has been and where it's headed. Check it out and then leave us your thoughts in the comments.
MMORPG: What are your memories of launch? At that time what was the best part of the game for you?
Craig Morrison: I wasn't actually on the team when it launched, so I was a spectator and player. Some of us on the Anarchy Team at the time were busy playing through the content, just like the hordes of players that descended on Hyboria at the start. I think we were all a little overwhelmed at how successful the game had been at attracting players. While of course, it was those expectations that ultimately left some players feeling that the launch hadn't delivered, it was still quite an amazing accomplishment for a studio of our size. I think the only games that sold more copies that year were the Sims and Spore, so for me, stepping into that situation, and managing such expectations from so many people after the launch, was quite challenging. Guild Wars 2: Human Weaklings
May 14th
Even though it sounds rather strange to hear, Humans in Guild Wars 2 are…annoying. Find out why we think so in our latest Guild Wars 2 column and then let us know what you think of Humans in the comments.
The world is ruled by dragons. The humans’ enemies continue to knock on the doors of their weakening fortress every day. We see other races prepping for war, and trying to become stronger. But what do I see when running around Divinity’s Reach? I see a circus style festival. The Charr are making massive war machines, and the Humans are pitching up circus tents. Good job Humans, good job. Even the Norn, a race that cares only to either live through an epic battle to tell the tale, or to die in an epic battle and have songs sung of them, feel more prepared for war then the Humans.

Sure I’ll help you out! The Charr don’t need my help driving back the Ghosts of Ascalon or anything.
Path of Exile: The Disgruntled Pony: Path of Exile Edition!
May 14th
Our resident pony, DarkPony, returns with another blog entry, this time focused on the action-RPG Path of Exile.
Despite the huge differences in resources, funding and man power somehow PoE has much more in common with Diablo 2's core values than Diablo 3. And the things it does different … are actually improvements on the formula. It transcends the hack & slash model at times and has some aspects in common with games like the original Guild Wars.
Of course, the PoE beta is a bit rough around the edges and there is a distinct indie odor to it; a smell you pick up as soon as you visit their website; "Eew … 90's style frame borders!". This also is prevalent ingame with a similarly retro'ish UI design which feels a bit oversized and clunky at times. Also there are no voice-overs for the few npc's which can be interacted with and some minor bugs and glitches here and there, but none of those things really got in my way of becoming very compelled by this game and playing it non-stop for hours.

The Secret World: Magic Skills Interview
May 14th
The Secret World boasts that it gives players the ability to focus on whatever type of combat they prefer, whether ranges, melee or magic. We caught up with Funcom's Martin Bruusgaard to tals specifically about magic in The Secret World. See what we discovered and then leave your thoughts in the comments.
MMORPG: Will there be a reason for players to mix magic schools? Or will it make more sense to mix something like Chaos Magic with Melee weapons more often than not.
Martin Bruusgaard: TSW has over 500 unique abilities distributed over 9 different weapon types: Shotguns, pistols, assault rifles, swords, hammers, fist weapons, chaos magic, elementalism and blood magic. Players can mix and match any two weapons, but they have to make a choice. You can only bring 7 active abilities and 7 passive abilities into battle. There are always reasons to mix two particular weapons, but some have more synergy than others. Blood magic and elementalism is a great match for a damage-over-time-build, and they both can apply and modify how "DoTs" behave. Blood magic and chaos is great for a shut-down build, as chaos can knock people back/towards/down and blood have quite a few abilities that can exploit impairments (knockdowns, More >
