Guild Wars 2: Death to the Old Ways!
Apr 9th
Arena.Net has plans to set the MMO genre on its ear by doing away with the necessity for player groups to mirror the so-called "Holy Trinity" style of game play, to the "old way" as it were. We take a look at that in today's Guild Wars 2 column. Read on and then post your thoughts in the comments.
The holy trinity formula has been used in MMOs since before most can remember, so how do you take something that has become so essential to a genres game design, and just pitch it out the window? Simple: change the entire game design. So many games focus on a simple game play experience that requires the player to just get into a position, and click on the proper skills at the right time. For Guild Wars 2 they sped things up. They also unleashed both the players and NPCs requiring both to move around in order to win. No more standing still to cast spells! In short, they brought in the element of action oriented game play. The game doesn't feel like an MMO at all. If you try to play it like a traditional MMO, you'll end up dying a lot. More >
Wizard101: The New World of Avalon
Apr 9th
KingsIsle is taking players of its flagship title, Wizard101, to new worlds with the coming addition of Avalon. As the name implies, Avalon will be squarely focused on an Arthurian type landscape. We've got a bit more information about Avalon and some exclusive screens to share. Check it out in Wizard101: The New World of Avalon.
Avalon is a mainline, medieval world of knights, castles, goblins and dragons. It plays heavily on the Arthurian and Celtic mythologies, with fallen knights, warrior queens and quests to prove one's worth and skill. It is a land of rich, green glades; dangerous, barricaded towers; and dark, sinister woods.

The Repopulation: Nation & City Building Trailer
Apr 9th
The Repopulation team has released a brand new trailer featuring nation and city building in the game. In addition, a new lore piece has cropped up on the official site called "Leeza's Story".
Leesa was not a brave person. She stood barely five foot, four inches, she had brown hair, brown eyes, and she would have brown skin, if she ever actually went into the sun. She was not fat, but nobody would ever call her ‘sylph-like’, sturdy was more often used to describe her. Short, sturdy and brown…that was Leesa.
She was nothing like her ‘brother’ Danald and her ‘sister’ Judeth. They were the other clones in her particular batch and they felt that strange sibling bond to each other. Though they shared nothing, not even one gene, only the machinery that created and grew them to adulthood at the same time. But Leesa, she was more timid than almost anyone else she knew. She sometimes wondered if there had been a flaw in her memory imprinting, taking her courage and giving a double dose to her ‘brother’.

Mike Capps: Epic Games has a PC-exclusive game in the works

Gears of War and Fortnite dev Epic Games is getting back to its roots with a PC-exclusive project, creative lead Cliff Bleszinski and president Mike Capps announced today during a PAX East panel. “We might be working on a PC-only title,” Capps teased, before Bleszinski picked up where he left off: “Let me say that again: we are working on a PC game.”
The panel is still going on, but we’ll be sure to chat to the Epic folks as soon as it’s over.
Update: Epic Games prez Mike Capps told us after the panel that the unannounced PC project is currently underway, and that the current plans are to keep the game exclusive to the PC platform. Unsurprisingly, he wouldn’t tell us anything else.
Each Borderlands DLC pack was made in eight weeks

Borderlands 2 art director Jeramy Cooke and concept designer Scott Kester both worked on the first Borderlands, and they shrug off accomplishments such as “made Borderlands” with considerable humility. When Cooke mentioned casually that every piece of DLC for the first title was created in just eight weeks each, we stopped him for clarification.
“You don’t understand, those first DLCs, we were literally counting K to try and fit features in there because at the time we hadn’t expected it to be such a huge success, so we didn’t know that ‘oh, we’ll have to put all this DLC in,’” Cooke said during a meeting at PAX East 2012.
This development time is impressive considering the heft of each pack, but also because Gearbox hadn’t prepared the full game to handle add-on content.
“It was the first time the company had ever done DLC, but we were like, damn it, if we’re going to do it, let’s do it,” Kester said. And so they did.
Borderlands 2 is the second time Gearbox can attempt DLC and it has implemented a robust backend system to support whatever additional content it needs, including patches and More >
Neverwinter: Cryptic’s Dark Horse Rising
Apr 9th
Cryptic Studios has been quietly hacking away at Neverwinter for a couple of years now, barely showing anything to the outside world. Then this past weekend at PAX East, they came out of nowhere to shock fans and media alike with a polished, fun, and potentially epic MMORPG set in the Forgotten Realms.
Cryptic Studios has something to prove. While both Champions Online and Star Trek Online eventually found their niche as "freemium" MMOs, each game had a lot of hype that wasn't quite met. It's not uncommon on this website to see commenters claim they'll never buy another Cryptic Studios product. It's a good thing their next offering will be entirely free to play and published by Perfect World Entertainment. And it's also a good thing that Neverwinter is absolutely and positively the most exciting MMORPG we saw at PAX East 2012. Polished, fun, and inventive (not to mention a D&D fan's nerd-haven) Neverwinter won our Game of Show with good reason. Read on to learn about combat, setting, story, classes, character creation, PVP, the Foundry, and so much more.

SWTOR Community Q&A: April 6th 2012 (Game Update 1.2 Special)
Apr 8th
If you want to buy SWTOR Credits, Star Wars:The Old Republic Credits,SWTOR Gold,Buy SWTOR Gold, please click here.
Posted by: BioWare This week’s Q&A continues on from last week where we answered a number of questions about Game Update 1.2. We had so many questions we broke the Q&A into two parts! Next week we’ll return to answering more general questions you might have. We’ll open a Forum thread for you to contribute as normal.
As a reminder, two weeks ago we suggested a shift in focus in your questions. As development plans are always subject to change, questions about future features will often get vague answers which can be repetitive and sometimes annoying. With that in mind, the development team is more interested in questions about current in-game features or systems, or questions about why development decisions were made. You’re still welcome to ask questions about future features and we’ll continue to answer them where appropriate – just expect the occasional ‘soon.’
Thangunis: Soon I will hit level 50 and was wondering what to do with my commendations. If I understand correctly the new Recruit gear set is more PVP oriented and has less PvE stats? Is the old gear worth buying More >
