The launch of Assault on Balaurea
The Elyos and Asmodians may not like one another very much, but they’re going to have to settle their differences — at least temporarily — to take on their mutual enemy in this update.
The Balaureans are the main threat, and while it’s not a great situation to be in, look on the bright side: thanks to them, Aion players are getting new zones, instances, pets, and even a shiny new level cap. Flight mechanics have been improved as well to help everyone take on the Balaureans.

Aion: Giving It a Go
Sep 9th
In his latest entry into the MMORPG.com Staff Blog, Bill Murphy, the self-proclaimed swag hag, admits to scoring a copy of Aion in its new Assault on Balaurea packaging during last week's PAX in Seattle. Because of so generous a gift, Bill is giving Aion a try. Check out his thoughts about trying Aion and then add some of your own.
At PAX this year players, fans, and press who attended the Aion: Assault on Balaurea panel were greeted with a nice surprise on their chair… a newly minted retail copy of the game in its Assault on Balaurea packaging. It seems that Aion is really trying to rebrand itself as the free expansion launches by putting new boxes on store shelves and letting the press and players know that they’ve been listening to their complaints since the game launched.

Aion: Assault on Balaurea: Interview
Sep 8th
Recently MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller had the chance to sit down with Aion associate producer Sean Neil and community manager Andrew Beegle. They spent time talking about Assault on Balaurea, the first Aion expansion that was released yesterday with topics ranging from the new pet system, flight and challenges thrown at players in Balaurea. Check it out!
What part of the new pet system are you most excited about as a player of Aion, not just a developer?
Sean: In essence, I just love the idea of usable non-combat pets. But in particular, I’m really looking forward to using the “Signal” Pets, which will alert you when an enemy player is lurking about. There’s few things more defeating than getting ganked while you’re trying to level your Essencetapping skills on some plants. It’s also awesome that we get to switch out pets on the fly, so there’s no having to go through some long process of weighing out which pet is best for a particular situation. Just summon the guy you think you need, and change them out as necessary!

Aion: Assault on Balaurea zone trailer — Inggison
Aug 27th
NCsoft unveiled a video tour of Inggison, a new zone introduced in Aion’s upcoming expansion, Assault on Balaurea. No longer confined to Atreia on the interior of the planet, players will venture forth to the lands on the outside. Filled with a variety of new plant and wildlife, Inggison is the Elyos foothold in Balaurea.
Even as they bask in direct sunlight (a treat not possible in the sundered lands of Asmodae and Elysea), Daevas in Aion will encounter new foes — such as the Balaur-worshippers of Undirborg — and fight old ones, as the Asmodians try to claim the Temple of Scales and Altar of Avarice Fortresses.

Aion: Assault on Balaurea: Inggison Zone Tour Trailer
Aug 26th
NCsoft has released this latest trailer offering us a fly-through of Aion's new Elyos zone, Inggison, which is set to debut with the launch of the Assault on Balaurea update later next month.
Inggison is the Elyos foothold in Balaurea, the home of Aion's third major (and fully NPC) faction, the Balaur, which are a main focus of the new update. The zone is replete with flora and fauna entirely alien to that found in Atreia, however, travelers should take care, as the beauty of Ingisson's wildlife can be deceptive: these creatures don't mess around.
Other dangers await Elyos players who explore Ingisson, such as the Balaur-worshippers of Undirborg, and the Balaur who are defending their Drana at Mephistis Farm. Of course, those silly Asmodians will also be around, vying for control of the Temple of Scales and Avarice Fortresses.
