Turbine has announced the live status of Update 9: Harbinger of Madness. The new Harbinger of Madness adventure pack introduces updates to Crafting, improvements made to Bluff, Diplomacy and Intimidate, and other new features. Expect to see new attack animations, boosted spells, and more prestige Enhancement lines.

A baffling disappearance of several Saltire locals has been reported! Your job is to track down who or what is responsible and expose the reason for their madness. Your detective work begins in the Stormreach harbor and will force you to come face-to face with danger in uncharted sewers. Then venture to a hidden laboratory where fleshcrafting is the core experiment, and finally, peruse an art gallery where flesh is on display! The Harbinger of Madness Adventure Pack is available for player's level 15 and above.

Dungeons & Dragons Online Executive Producer Fernano Paiz has posted the latest State of the Game letter on the official site. Paiz welcomes the international players to the game and then briefly discusses the fact that a firm update schedule for the balance of the year is already in place, with Update 9 almost literally around the corner.

The first big release of the year is almost here! That’s right, Update 9 is loaded with many great improvements both large and small. One big change that I’m excited for is a major balance pass that was done for almost all spells in the game! We are giving casters more viable spell choices to use in combat situations and a better balance between the spell point cost and the impact of each spell. And best of all, spell point costs have generally gone down which means you should have more mana to burn in your adventuring. There are other improvements I’m personally excited for, including the changes to make non-boss Epic monsters feel… well… like non-bosses! The official Dungeons & Dragons Online site has been updated with new information about the forthcoming patch that will include the Harbinger of Madness Adventure Pack and serious upgrades to the DDO crafting system. Along with the aforementioned, there will be new additions to the Turbine Store as well as other balance tweaking and bug squashing.

Turbine has announced that German and French localized versions of Dungeons & Dragons Online have launched. The announcement coincides with Turbine taking over from the former server hosts. Turbine now maintains hosting duties for a global audience.

“We’ve successfully migrated players from the former European service and we are very excited to begin welcoming thousands more to DDO Unlimited,” said Fernando Paiz, Executive Producer of DDO Unlimited.  “This is going to be another outstanding year for the game as we continue to roll out new content and features for our growing legions of players.  We’re very excited to begin engaging directly with German and French speaking players and look forward to introducing them to a truly premium free to play MMORPG.”
