EVE Online: Mapping the Future
Jul 19th
EVE players have a lot to look forward to judging by the information released in a new developer blog by CCP Zulu, the new senior producer. Zulu specifically writes to clarify information and rumors that came out of the recent meeting between devs and the Council of Stellar Management.
Zulu begins with Incarna. The Incarna team will swell to over ninety developers by mid-August and will be working hard to bring full body avatars to EVE players. Zulu acknowledges that some folks have stayed away from the game simply because the identification of one's personna is currently ship-based rather than avatar based. This, he says, is going to change with Incarna.
The next item on the table is CCP's MMO-FPS hybrid:
We‘re also committed to producing and launching an MMOFPS hybrid. What we‘re doing is unheard of in the gaming industry, namely linking together a console FPS (MMOFPS) with a classic PC MMORPG. Let that sink in for a minute. CCP is the first company in the world to do something like this. First. Ever. The „resource cost" on the EVE side for that is a team continuing on development of the Planetary Interaction feature (the primary link between the two) for the More >

Intaki Liberation Front Declare Trade Hub a Success – news from EvE
Jul 19th
Intaki, Placid – In what they hope will them to achieve their long-term goal of an independent Intaki State, the Intaki Liberation Front [ILF] have succeded in raising what they believe to be billions of ISK in the system.
9 months on from the completion of an upgrade to their Prosperity station, the ILF have attempted to create a “one-stop shop” for small and medium ships in the Placid region, with the hope of also being able to offer every type of hull, rig and item a capsuleer may wish for.
Apollonius Verus, spokesperson for ILF listed their recent sales in the 5-5 trade hub and what they have on offer. “[Between] June 7th [and] July 6th, we sold 168 ship hulls. This included 22 battlecruisers, 30 cruisers, 14 destroyers, 72 frigates, 22 shuttles, 7 mining barges, and 1 industrial. We currently have 24 battlecruisers, 97 cruisers, 49 destroyers, 360 frigates, 110 shuttles, 11 mining barges, and 18 industrials for sale on the Intaki market. All ships were produced locally at our Prosperity Station shipyards.”
Apollonius said “Many of the profits are re-invested back into our factories and labs for ongoing research and manufacturing that keeps the Intaki trade hub supplied More >

Largest Hulkageddon To Date Concludes – news from EvE
Jul 18th
Brapelille, Sinq Liason – The Hulkageddon event, organized by Helicity Boson of the Jerk Cartel, recently returned for its third incarnation as “Hulkageddon III: Summer of Gank.”
The event began on 09.07.112 at 00:00 and carried on for 9 days. Although set up in the same format as the previous two events, with prizes for various permutations of killing a large number of exhumers – chiefly Hulks and Mackinaws – this year the event was politicised by a prize contributed by elements of the Minmitar Militia for the most destroyed exhumers in Amarrian space.
Hulkageddon III attained approximately 1/4 more registered ship kills than the previous event, with a final kill count of 1719 Exhumers, 717 Barges, 29 Orcas and 1 Rorqual.
Many miners were vocal in their dislike of the proceedings, especially those who unwillingly became targets. “Took out my hulk… Hope you’re happy you steaming pile of space junk. Whether it takes a day, a month, or a year, I will get you back. I’m coming for you,” was one such message sent from an attacked miner to a Hulkageddon team. Such messages are collected and displayed on the Hulkageddon site and referred to as “delicious tears.”

Alliance Tournament 8 Prizes Awarded – news from EvE
Jul 18th
G-G78S, Curse – After some protests over delays, the prizes for Alliance Tournament 8 winner Pandemic Legion and runners up HYDRA RELOADED, Darkside and WE FORM VOLTRON have been awarded.
Pandemic Legion [-10] team member Fintroll commented on the prize award delays stating “This is the third year running that Pandemic Legion has won the Alliance Tournament. In the previous years we have had much worse trouble receiving our prizes; including a time we placed but did not win I believe the wait times we endured were 6 months, 4 months, and 3 months respectively. I’m not sure why it’s such a struggle every year to get us our prizes. [The Tournament organization] has to be aware that someone is going to win every time and is going to be anxious to get a hold of their rewards. Every other tournament in the known universe, awards are ready to be handed out before the tournament ends, and given out immediately after.”
Pandemic Legion received 50 Adrestia Heavy Assault Cruiser ships, a Gold Medal for each participant and 50 Billion ISK for their victory. Fintroll added that he believes these ships “will have great value in Alliance Tournament IX, which of course More >

Nefantar Elite make best of their situation – news from EvE
Jul 17th
While many of the ex-Ammatar elite who returned to the Republic following the Elder War have found the transition difficult, there are a good many who have retained the optimism that led them to defecting in the first place.
Omad Durgen was a Vice-Admiral in the Ammatar Fleet before the Elder Invasion. He and a group of loyal officers commandeered a ship and defected to the Republic, even aiding the Elders for a brief time before the ship sustained too much damage to continue. “It was glorious,” Durgen said. “We all thought we’d come to the Republic as heroes. The wayward sons, returning with the heads of our enemies held high. It wasn’t to be so.”
Durgen, like many others, found that the long-held beliefs and hatreds that had developed in the Republic were difficult to overcome. “It didn’t matter that I had defected. All that mattered was that, at one time, I had fought the Minmatar on the side of the Empire. I was a murderer, a butcher, a race-traitor,” he said. “I hoped to enlist in the Republic Fleet, but they would not have me. I was a security risk, they said. A potential spy for the Empire. “

Aftermath of Nation attacks ’’eerie’’ and ’’disturbing’’ – news from EvE
Jul 17th
Ation – Nearly 750.000 Federation citizens were abducted from the Ation system by Sansha’s Nation in a recent raid. Much like in previous raids the Nation left the attacked sites nearly devoid of human life, carrying off everyone from the newly born to the elderly.
Estigone, a settlement of nearly 200.000, was one of the main sites of the Sansha attack. Before the attack it was a bustling industrial community in growth, centered around several factories belonging to Aliastra. Now it lies deserted, with nearly every one of its citizens taken during the Nation raid.
Across the settlement, evidence of its previous inhabitants is easy to come by. Half-eaten dinners sit rotting on tables. Holoplayers loop their reels unceasingly. Computer screens display incomplete messages. Unfiled reports sit on office desks. Family pets claw at cages and gnaw at restraints.
Perhaps most baffling is the lack of evidence for any resistance. Though Estigone had an organized and armed police force, there is little indication that they mustered any opposition to the Nation’s raiders. Weapons remain unfired in their lockers, the safeties still on. While there are some small signs of conflict, such as blaster holes and scattered debris from small explosions, much of the More >
Many Nefantar Elite find adapting to Republic life difficult – news from EvE
Jul 14th
Following the Elder Invasion over two years ago, thousands of the Ammatar Mandate’s former elite defected to the Minmatar Republic. For many of them, the road to reintegration into the Minmatar tribal system has been lined with hardship.
Stripped of their former power and coming to a nation that views them with centuries of built-up suspicion and hatred, the Elite have been faced with challenges that many of them have not been able to overcome. “I oversaw an entire planet in the Mandate,” said Ramius Throten, a former Mandate district governor. “I did what I could to assist my fellow Minmatar. I made sure the slaves kept in my district were well treated. I turned a blind eye to raiders whenever I could, which wasn’t often enough for some. Despite my efforts, I have been ostracized in the Republic.”
Throten is one of many who has been soured by the prejudice he has faced. Though he spent over a year living in the Republic, he has recently immigrated to the Gallente Federation. “In the Empire, I was derisively called ‘minnie’ and treated as inferior to any Amarrian. In the Republic, I was called slaver and always viewed as a traitor to More >
