Capsuleers Unite to Assist Chribba – news from EvE
Oct 15th
9UY4-H, Providence. A few weeks ago an eight-man corporation known as Trzciciele Kawy planted Sovereignty Blockade Units (SBUs) at all the stargates in the system of 9UY4-H in Providence. The system is currently the home of Chribba, one of New Eden’s most beloved capsuleers. Chribba has pledged to keep the station – known as Chribba’s Cottage – open to the general public for as long as he holds sovereignity there, making it rare among capsuleer-owned stations.
Following the SBU placement, a general GalNet alert went out and in a matter of hours, droves of pilots descended on the system, ready to defend Chribba’s sovereignty.
First to arrive was a mixed fleet from Empire space, composed of pilots who had volunteered from the ’Holy Veldspar’ comm channel under the leadership of Obsidian Hawk of RONA corporation. They were shortly followed by a fleet that had initially formed to repel Sansha Incursions in Empire, under the leadership of Rustybronco of The Concillium Enterprises corporation.
Obsidian Hawk’s fleet, in stealthbombers, started in on the first SBU. They were beginning to despair of ever finishing the job when a 120-man EVE-University fleet under the leadership of CEO Kelduum Revaan jumped into the system and added their firepower. More >

EVE Online: Supercapitals & Supercarriers Under the Microscope
Oct 10th
The EVE Online site has a new blog that deals with something that they acknowledge has been a huge concern in the community for a long time: Supercapitals and Supercarriers.
The complaint is stated: "Supercapitals can effectively deal with any size of target, and killing them takes a tremendous amount of damage. What this means is that with very few exceptions, the fleet with the most supercarriers wins."
As a result, the team is looking at ways to even the battlefield. Solutions range from reducing the overall shield, armor and hull hitpoints of supercapitals by 20% to "supercarriers will now have a smaller drone bay and will only be able to put fighters and fighter bombers in it."
More changes are in store for the Titan superweapon, addressing the "uselessness" of super-capitals, eliminating the log out as tactic problem and other balance issues.

EVE Online: Winter Expansion Details & News of a "Humbler CCP"
Oct 5th
CCP Zulu has posted the latest EVE Online developer blog outlining the Winter 2011 Expansion and the "refocusing" of the game in the coming months. A second letter from CCP Hellmar is specifically addressed to those who are "disenchanted" with EVE and with CCP.
In the post starts off with a bang: "As we said we are planning something unparalleled. A significant part of that plan is the immediate refocusing of all the EVE development teams on EVE’s core gameplay: spaceships."
In addition to that announcement, Zulu listed the systems and features that the team will be spending or has already spent significant time "refocusing":
- Hybrid weapons balancing
- Factional warfare
- Assault ships
- Capital ship balancing
- New T2 modules
- Starbase logistics management
- New EWAR-Drones
- T2 Rigs manufacturing
- Ship spinning
- New font
- More captains quarters
- Time dilation
No specific timeframe has been announced as to when the Winter 2011 update will go int effect. Zulu did indicate, however, that these changes would "be on Tranquility well before Christmas."

The second letter on the site is from CCP Hellmar and contains a heartfelt apology to the EVE Online community:
The estrangement from CCP that many of you have been feeling of late is my fault, and for that I am truly sorry. There More >
EVE Online: The Jester?s Lament
Oct 3rd
In today's One Jump Home column, MMORPG.com's Ross McDermott writes about the impending control of null-sec by two titans of EVE: Goonswarm Federation and Legion of xXDEATHXx. But there's more to the story than a simple non-invasion pact in the thought that null-sec is stagnant and that it's the events happening there that shape the rest of the EVE universe. Ross has several ideas to share with readers so head through the jump. Add your thoughts in the comments.
The reality is that stagnation is rampant in EVE Online. Specifically in null-sec. The super-capital arms race has resulted in the most terrifying of outcomes: the super-capital Mexican stand-off. However this appears to have evolved beyond the simple rules of 3 men pointing guns at each-other, rather today we see a shift towards a nuclear peace.

EVE Online: Captain’s Quarters Now Offers Custom Video Playlists
Sep 26th
CCP Games just released a new dev blog outlining how players can add their own custom videos to the giant flatscreen available in their Captain's Quarters.
First, players have to convert their desired videos into the .BIK file format. Once that's done it's as simple as dropping the videos into the game cache's CQScreenVideos folder (create if it doesn't exist), and voila! You're done.
This feature was actually discovered by the intrepid EVE Online community a few weeks back, and it looks like the new dev blog was put together in order to give players official instructions on how to do this since the cat's out of the bag anyways and they don't want people accidentally messing up their games.
What do you plan on watching in your Captain's Quarters? Share your thoughts in the comments below. Oh, and keep it clean now!
