EVE Online: The Serpent?s Apple
Oct 31st
Naysayers aside, many EVE Online players are enjoying something called F-U-N. In his latest One Jump Home column, MMORPG.com's Ross McDermott talks about some of the good times he's been enjoying in game and predicts that the future of EVE is still quite bright. Check it out and then leave us your comments.
And so, fun was had. Some followed, most were hesitant, and few considered the political ramifications of their actions. It took two pilots, two from Test Alliance Please Ignore and one from Elite Space Guild – The Alliance I happen to be the CEO of – to get caught in the crossfire before it all came tumbling down. After a night of fanciful free-flying through Delve, the fleet of Pandemic Legion, TEST and ESG were ready to pack up their bags. Good fights were nowhere to be had and tiredness and boredom were beginning to take hold. Sleepy pilots were ready for their beds, so ships were hauled towards the system known as 1DH and all the gates were green.

Free Cerebral Accelerator for all new pilots! – news from EvE
Oct 28th
Looking for an extra something to get you started in EVE Online? You are in luck! For a limited time all new paid accounts (including those converted from trial, invited through buddy program, created through special offers, etc.) will receive a free Cerebral Accelerator implant, available through the redeeming system.
Cerebral accelerators are military-grade implants that significantly increase a new pilot’s skill development. They allow new capsuleers to more rapidly absorb information of all kinds, and as a bonus also enhance spatial processing abilities that are critical for weapons handling. The only drawback to this implant is that capsuleer training renders it ineffective after a while; as such, it will cease to function for pilots who have been registered for more than 35 days.
In addition to that, for a limited time you’ll receive a bonus rare EVE ship when you invite a friend through the Buddy Program and they upgrade to a paying account.
EVE Online: The Gallente Talos
Oct 27th
CCP Guard has posted a great new look at the Gallente Talos, a new ship that will arrive with the Winter expansion to EVE online.
The Talos was heavily influenced by the winning entry in the recent EVE Online: Design a Starship contest held on Deviant Art. Michael Shierup's ship was originally named Seraphim but it was decided to rename the battlecruiser Talos after the Grecian guardian of the island of Crete.
Find out more about the Talos on the EVE Online blog.
EVE Online: Crash Reports Update
Oct 27th
CCP Redundancy has updated the EVE Online blog with the news that players can now turn off crash reporting. This decision was made in response to player requests for the ability to turn off crash reports.
According to the post, players now have this ability but it will be further refined and simplified for the Winter expansion.

EVE Online: Community Team – The Road Ahead
Oct 22nd
CCP Navigator has penned the latest article on the EVE Online blog. In it, Navigator talks about the recently announced staff reductions and how the Community Team will be impacted.
According to Navigator, players are worried that communication between the dev team and the community will not be as prolific as it's been in the past. In response, Navigator said, "The Community team has merged with Customer Support to create the Customer Relations wing of CCP. Hilmar, the CEO of CCP, recently stated in an interview with Eurogamer, ‘ By centralizing customer support and community we have more people doing community work than we did before. Being co-located with the developers allows the information within the community groups to have a much more direct effect on the development process.’"

EVE Online: Battlecruisers to Utilize BIG Guns
Oct 21st
The Winter expansion for EVE Online will see the debut of another tier of Battlecruisers according to a new blog post penned by CCP Guard.
According to Guard, the best thing about the new tier of Battlecruisers is that they will be able to outfit themselves in Battleship weaponry. You know, those really BIG guns?
They will be capable of similar damage output as a battleship but obviously all that damage comes at a price. They won‘t be able to tank like a battleship, but what they lack in the tanking department the right pilot should be able to somewhat make up for with speed and distance management. Those looking to start minmaxing fleets of TÖTALHELLDEATH will have to wait a bit for the stats.

EVE Online: CCP to Refocus, Reduce Staff by 20%
Oct 19th
The CCP blog has been updated with news that the company will be refocusing its efforts on EVE Online and Dust 514. As a result of the restructuring of the focus, the number of staff will be reduced by 20% worldwide and World of Darkness will be sidelined.
Following this reorganization, we must do a better job by focusing on these priorities:
- For the immediate future, our mission is to enrich the vast EVE Universe by strengthening the continuous development of EVE Online while preparing to bring DUST 514 to market on the PS3. We do this in order to realize our ambitious and challenging plan of joining the two in a cross-platform, truly massive online world.
- World of Darkness will continue development with a significantly reduced team. This team will continue to iterate and expand on the gameplay and systems they have designed. We will also redeploy creative teams in Atlanta to support the launch of DUST 514.

EVE Online: Player-Owned Customs Offices
Oct 18th
The CCP / EVE Online team has a new blog post on the official site detailing the new player-owned customs offices. The goal, according to the blog post, is to make "planetary taxation a profitable business".
Customs Offices in Low Sec, 0.0 and Wormhole systems are set to be eliminated while those in Hi Sec will remain under the auspices of CONCORD. Also of note is the fact that customs offices are now "targetable".
Corporations have the opportunity to build their own customs office in the orbit of any planet, with players of Station Manager rank able to make any changes to the CO on completion. Only one customs office per planet will be allowed.
There is a whole lot more information about how the COs will work, how to protect and reinforce them and more. Check it all out on the EVE Online blog.
EVE Online: EVE Will Be Reborn
Oct 18th
In today's One Jump Home column, MMORPG.com's Ross McDermott takes a look at the past several months in EVE Online and some of the events and statements that have literally shaken New Eden to its core. Check out Ross's unique perspective on things such as the Incarna debacle and Monacle-gate and then weigh in with a few thoughts of your own in the comments.
For the CEO of a videogames company to admit a significant error is, in my opinion, incredibly brave. I've met CCP Hellmar at the Icelandic CSM Summits; the man is genuine and sincere in his person and with his words. He reminisced with us about how he helped to build EVE Online from scratch, about how coders sat in a dark room often working far longer than they needed to to make the project come to life. For him to come forth and admit that mistakes were made is not only brave, but a breath of fresh air in a world of pressed suits and 'New Game Experiences' which outright murder MMORPGs and then turn the blame on their communities for 'Not understanding their perspective'.

More >CCP Focuses on the EVE Universe – A CCP Announcement – news from EvE
Oct 18th
At CCP we have been working hard to expand the gaming landscape by applying the knowledge and expertise we’ve built up with EVE Online to create a new experience within the EVE Universe in DUST 514, as well as a new video game franchise in World of Darkness.
During the last few months, as evidenced by our interaction with the community, we made some missteps on that journey.
As we reexamine our outward relations, we are also taking time to reevaluate our internal goals. In doing so, we have come to the conclusion that we are attempting too many things for a company our size. Developing EVE expansions, DUST 514 and World of Darkness has stretched our resources too thin.
Rather than allowing this to persist, we have made the decision to sharpen our focus. Sadly, this means reducing our staff. We estimate that around twenty percent of global positions will be affected by this process. These will be predominantly in our Atlanta, GA office, although select positions in our Reykjavik, Iceland office will be affected.
We are very sad to lose some of our talented and dedicated colleagues to this necessary process. Naturally we are making every effort within our means to help More >
