Guild Wars 2: ’Consistent Steady Growth’
May 21st
With today's announcement that ArenaNet would be dropping the price of Guild Wars 2, lots of players have expressed interesting in knowing some of the reasons behind that decision. We participated in a conference call with Colin Johanson to find out more about the decision and more about Guild Wars 2 going forward.
"Guild Wars 2 is in a solid place. The drop in price aligns almost exactly with what we did with Guild Wars 1. It held its value over a long period of time and we feel that Guild Wars 2 will do the same. We don't feel we need a big price drop. The game is in a really good place with consistent, steady growth."

Guild Wars 2: ArenaNet Reveals New Game Pricing
May 21st
ArenaNet has announced that pricing for Guild Wars 2 will permanently be reduced in order to bring new players into the aggressively updated game at unprecedented levels. From now on, players can purchase Guild Wars 2 for $49.99 for the standard edition and $69.99 for the digital deluxe edition.
ArenaNet planned the announcement for 11:00 a.m. EDT today but other sites have broken the embargo set by the development and publishing teams.
In a game that has become the new standard in MMO game development and with the new price points, we expect the world of Tyria will become the new online destination for new role players and those looking for an ever-changing gaming experience.
More information will be available on the Guild Wars 2 site after the embargo officially lifts at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
Guild Wars 2: Uncovering the Secret of Southsun
May 18th
Now that the Guild Wars 2 Live Story is moving on with the arrival of The Secret of Southsun, we wanted to give the new content an in depth look. See what we think before leaving your impressions of Southsun in the comments.
Dynamic events have always littered the island of Southsun Cove. But new ones have been added to help expand on the new event’s story. You’ll see some riots break out, and things get pretty crazy. You’ll have to hold refugees back from causing mischief. I felt bad beating them up. These new events are far too few. While Crab Toss will add some life to the event, I felt like the refugees and consortium would butt heads way more than what we see. The build it made it sound like things were way worse than they are.

Guild Wars 2: Secret of Southsun Goes Live
May 14th
Guild Wars 2 players logging into the game will find that the next installment of the living story, Secret of Southsun, has gone live. Not only does the latest patch bring new content into the game, but also a new minigame and brand new features for WvW including traps.
Traps are fiendish items that can be purchased from the new Traps and Tricks Outfitters on each WvW map. We’re starting with anti-stealth fields and traps that remove supply from enemy players, but in the months ahead we’ll introduce even more ways to spread mayhem in the Mists!
See more about Secret of Southsun on the Guild Wars 2 site.
Ed. note: The press release is live but it is unclear at this point if Southsun is live on servers -yet-. The bottom line is that Southsun does launch today!

Guild Wars 2: NCSoft Earnings Up Due to GW2
May 13th
NCSoft has released its latest earnings report. The report shows that earnings are up largely in part thanks to the release of ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2. While earnings fell in the final quarter of the year, profits were up for the year overall.
NCsoft's managing director, Nah Seong Chan, also hinted during the earnings call that the company was planning to address falling Guild Wars 2 sales with a new expansion pack.
"In terms of box sales and microtransactions are still very strong, and of course we are preparing an expansion pack but in terms of when we will actually launch it, it's something we are still monitoring… We are looking to the performance of the game and then we will decide what will be the best time to do the launch."

Guild Wars 2: An Island of Mystery
May 11th
ArenaNet began its patented tease for the next Guild Wars 2 game update with last week's revelation of the Secret of Southsun. In our latest Guild Wars 2 column, we speculate about what players might expect to find out. See if you agree before heading to the comments to post your ideas.
Back in The Lost Shores event players visited a new island, Southsun Cove, where they teamed up to push back the Karka threat. While victorious in preventing the Karka from invading Lion’s Arch, the Island is still inhabited with these strange creatures, there hasn’t been a really good reason for players to return.
