Guild Wars 2: Professing on Professions
Dec 5th
Guild Wars 2 fans have been waiting a LONG time to find out what the final profession will be and it doesn't look like that information is coming in the immediate future either. In today's column devoted to GW2, we opine about what that last profession will be or even what it should be. Check it out and then weigh in with your thoughts in the comments.
I‘m sure most of us know what profession we are going to play, but I can’t take it anymore! I want to know what the last profession is for Guild Wars 2! Will my possible partner be a master of magic, or will they choose the path of weapons and physical strength? I need to know; I may end up really liking the profession and play as one myself! When will the last warrior of Tyria be revealed? I have no idea, but to cure the insanity of not knowing, let us discuss the topic with words, and a few sketches by yours truly.

Right now, the net seems to be giving its vote for the Mesmer, we will just have to see.

Guild Wars 2: Story Telling & Character Development
Nov 17th
In a new post over at GuildWars2PC.com, the team discusses how story telling and character development are intertwined in Guild Wars 2 with one another to forge a compelling game.
In Guild Wars 2 you have multiple unique stories being forged, such as the primary story about the awakening of the Dragons, the breakup of the Destiny’s Edge, and even your own personal story in the world of Tyria. The Dungeons really go deep in to the story of the Destiny’s Edge but what about your own personal story and the decisions you make that affect the bigger picture, the upcoming threat of the awakened dragons? The elements listed in this section add to the overall experience and make you feel a connection to the world (server) you choose to reside in.

Guild Wars 2: All About Cinematic Conversation
Nov 11th
Chuck Jackman has updated the official Guild Wars 2 blog with a look behind the scenes of what Arena.Net calls "cinematic conversation", or the discussions going on between a player's character and the game's NPCs. "These are the nuts-and-bolts story moments, all the twists and turns, and the proverbial meat of your character’s personal tale. These are not pre-rendered and take place when the story needs more than in-game action to progress. These are the cinematic conversations." writes Jackman.
To show off what this embodies, ANet has produced a nice looking video:

Guild Wars 2: Flannum Dissects the GStar Video
Nov 10th
During this week's GStar in South Korea, the Guild Wars 2 team showed a new video showing off some pretty impressive character customization. In a new blog post on the Guild Wars 2 site, Eric Flannum dissects the video that outlines some of the new/improved features shown.
With Guild Wars 2, we are giving our players many different ways to customize their characters, and we’ve revamped a number of the systems involved: armor dye, hair style and color, skin color, and face style. We’ve also added a physique or body-type feature and a face-customization system. With face customization, we will give players the ability to change the size and shape of major facial features: eyes, nose, mouth, chin, and jaw. With all of our customization options, every player will be able to differentiate themselves from the crowd.
Guild Wars 2: Holiday Events in GW2
Nov 7th
In his latest column devoted to Guild Wars 2, MMORPG.com's David North wonders if the new game will be able to measure up to the holiday goodness that came with the original Guild Wars. See what sorts of holiday fun David has dreamed up for Guild Wars 2. Do you have a few thoughts? Add them in our comments.
Let’s just take a moment to imagine one activity, where you create an awesome giant snow man. I think it would be great to see tons of players rolling around huge snowballs, and using different drops from enemies to decorate the snowman. Just imagine, a pair of monstrous eyes, some insect legs and some raggedy armor you plucked from your dead foes being used to decorate the snowman! To make it even better, let’s make a contest out of it. Each guild makes a snowman, and the players can vote! It sounds awfully simple, but I think it would be pretty fun.

Guild Wars 2: Exclusive: Jon Peters Interview
Nov 5th
On Friday, Jon Peters updated the Guild Wars 2 blog with a slew of new changes to the game's pet system, the engineer's tool-belt, and gave us some revealing info on the cross-profession combos. We caught up with Jon to ask him a few questions about each.
Jon Peters: We balance everything in Guild Wars 2 around opportunity cost. For instance, using a skill at one point in combat prevents you from using it at another time, and selecting certain weapons or utilities require you to give up another weapon. We can do this by making our skills very versatile, or just by making them very good at the one thing they do. So I’m not really concerned about balancing that particular aspect of gameplay as opposed to anything else in the game. Of course Isaiah and Jonathan—the other guys heavily involved in game balance—will tell you that I’m never worried about anything because they worry about it for me!

Guild Wars 2: Tool Belts, Pets & Combos, Oh MY!
Nov 4th
The latest Guild Wars 2 blog post has just arrived packed with a trio of interesting tidbits including the Engineer's tool belt, the Ranger's pets and something awesome called Cross-Profession Combos.
The Engineer's tool belt has received a lot of love lately, according to Jon Peters. Included in the reworked mechanic are twenty three new skills. The tool belt will 'live' on the F1-F4 keys on a player's keyboard and the loaded skills will have a direct impact on healing utility skills on keys 6-9. Here's an example that Peters wrote about:
- F1 - Throw Elixir H: A ground-targeted skill that throws Elixir H at the target area, randomly granting vigor, protection, or regeneration to allies in the area.
- F2 - Incendiary Ammo: Your next three attacks cause burning.
- F3 – Super Speed: A very short but powerful speed boost.
- F4 – Rocket Kick: A kick that causes AoE fire damage.
Moving on, Peters discusses Ranger pets. Rangers will have access to four pets: Two terrestrial, two aquatic. Most interestingly, Rangers will be able to switch pets in the midst of battle and will even be able to switch to a new pet if one is knocked out in the fight.

Guild Wars 2: Postcards from Tyria
Oct 29th
Arena.Net's David Campbell has posted a series of environmental 'postcards' on the Guild Wars 2 blog that feature what he calls his favorite locations in Tyria. The postcards are concept art pieces that the team has produced during the years between Guild Wars: Eye of the North and now. It's a pretty cool retrospective look at some pretty awesome locations in the Guild Wars universe.
Guild Wars 2: Fresh Beats in Tyria
Oct 23rd
MMORPG.com columnist David North discusses the aural experience of Guild Wars 2 in this week's Guild Wars 2 column.
We always look and talk about the art and visuals of a game, often overlooking the efforts that go into making great audio. These days we can just turn the audio settings down and turn our ITunes volume up, but shouldn’t we only be doing this to games that don’t have impressive audio? For me, hearing what is happening in a game can really enhance the overall experience. I was happy with the audio in the original Guild Wars, but I am looking forward to hearing the enhancements ArenaNet is bringing to the audio experience for Guild Wars 2.
