Warhammer Online: Tier 4 Figure Unveiled
Aug 26th
Armor sets are an integral part of WAR. Not only are they a key functional aspect of the game, but they’re also a badge of honor, a visual display of all the hard work you’ve put into your character.
Recently, Mythic Entertainment is collecting feedback of Armor Sets Redesign in Warhammer Online, especially in Tier 4 where it really counts.
From: Warhammer Online Official Site
Below you will find before and after shots for six careers (three Order and three Destruction) in their Sentinel, Conqueror, Darkpromise, and Invader armor set. This is still a work in progress, and the set dye colors are not applied yet, but you should be able to get a good idea of how each set has changed. The teams had two goals in mind: Make each armor set look visually unique, and make the Tier 4 armor sets look as epic as they should for all the effort that goes into obtaining them. We feel they’ve met these goals and hope you do, too. Now, here comes the important part! We want to hear from you. What do you think of the changes? Do you love them? Do you hate them? Let us know, and please be as detailed as possible! We’ve More >

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Version 1.3.1 is Live!
Aug 19th
Version 1.3.1 of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is now on live servers. The new version introduces major adjustments to the City Invasion design to make it more accessible to users, as well as improvement to the flow of the city invasion stages themselves. A significant contribution to the increased accessibility of city invasions is the decoupling of fortresses from the requirements to initiate a city siege.
Additionally, keeps have been redesigned to now incorporate two ramps leading up to the Keep Lord. A recently published developer diary provides an in-depth look at the redesigned keeps.
The patch also features significant performance boosts and bug fixes, as well as improvements to the battlefied map UI so players can know at a glance what the exact status of keeps and battlefield objectives.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: What Difference Does a Year Make? Q&A
Aug 19th
MMORPG.com’s Garrett Fuller had the opportunity to send along seven questions to Wrhammer Online’s Jeff Skalski to discuss the game’s progress as it nears its one year anniversary.
MMORPG.com:
Warhammer has now been on the market for one year. Please tell us the story of the game’s lifecycle.
Jeff Skalski:
In May 2005, Mythic signed a deal with Games Workshop to bring to life the rich universe of its fantasy-based Warhammer IP. The challenge we laid out in front of us was creating a fresh new MMORPG that stayed true to the IP, unlike any other to date, for gamers and loyal hobbyists across the globe. A little over three years later, an EA acquisition, and almost 289 pounds of baby weight created, we shipped Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning on Sept 18th, 2008 (a few days earlier for those who pre-ordered). It has been one of hell of a ride, and the talented developers here at Mythic haven’t taken a second away from pouring their love and passion into WAR since.
If you go back and review the patch notes over the past year, what we’ve accomplished is rather astounding. What I find even more interesting is seeing how the players have adapted to More >
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Former GM on the Rise and Fall of WAR
Aug 10th
Jeremy Monken, a former GM on Warhammer Online, writes an insightful piece over at The Escapist on the rise and fall of Warhammer Online from the perspective of a Game Master. Entitled "Casualty of Warhammer" the article details his history with Mythic, from touring the facilities, to his eventual employment at the company as a GM after losing his job at a D.C. newspaper, to his personal experience with the many layoffs that hit Mythic over the past year. which of course, eventually hit him.
By December, paid subscriber numbers for WAR had dropped from a reported 800,000 to fewer than 300,000. We quickly learned we weren’t immune to EA’s company-wide layoffs as two rounds hit my department and familiar faces disappeared.
The first to go weren’t surprises. CSRs that were less adept with the software and less able to deal with customers stopped showing up. It was the third wave that had most people updating their resumes. People who had become our friends and mentors – guys whom we would all ask for advice or help with difficult issues – got cut. It became obvious that nobody was safe. The party was over.
Our department became more spread out as our neighbors More >
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: 1.3.1 Now on Public Test Server!
Aug 7th
Version 1.3.1 of Warhammer Online is now available on the public test server. The new patch includes major tweaks to City Invasion gameplay, upgrades to Keeps including the addition of a second ramp up to the keep lord, group summoning stones, major performance improvements, and more!
City Invasion changes from the notes:
We have collapsed the invaded city states down to three states labeled Contested, Captured, and Rebuilding. City defenders are now able to access and spawn in all city states, allowing them to continue the fight even after the enemy has captured the city! Below are the details on these three states:
- Contested - During the contested phase, both Realms are fighting for control of the city. The city is open to players of Rank 30+. The contested city Scenario becomes open to players below Rank 30. Control is gained through capture of the Battlefield Objectives, killing your enemies, and through winning the city Scenario. The city Public Quest is there to direct players toward these goals.
- Captured - The attackers have captured the city! The Warlord Public Quests open, and the ruler of the city becomes vulnerable. Attackers no longer need to defeat the warlords to unlock the king encounter. Both Realms are still More >
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: July Newsletter Reveals Wild Hunt Event
Jul 30th
The July Newsletter for Warhammer Online is out; and in it are a number of announcements. These announcements include the earlier reported upcoming Fall release of the WAR Mac client, and finally, full details on the Wild Hunt event, which is to debut later in the summer.
The Wild Hunt event is centered around the Elven tradition to honor the Elven god of the Hunt, Kurnuos, through a sacred hunt. The event will be introduced using a Open RvR public quest, similar to past events. These open RvR PQs will exist only in the High Elf lands, and will be available across all tiers.
In the first stage, players will have to set traps for members of the Wild Hunt that will arrive in the second stage to come after you.
In the second stage, players will have to tackle three hero Master Hunters, while also dealing with the threat of enemy players who are also seeking to do the same. While the chaos ensues, the Spirit of Kurnuos will roam throughout the area, and should he come upon you, he may afflict you with a curse. Once cursed, players will have to pass the curse onto an enemy player, or even an allied player More >

Warhammer Online: WAR Fiction – A Fistful of Choppas: Chapter 3
Jul 27th
Wait! Read Chapter Two first!
The pounding of Ghurlak’s flat feet along the canyon floor sounded like the beat of a war-drum as the runty Orc came thundering down the mountain towards Bagrash Runtchucka’s cave. The choppas he’d looted after the fight with the stuntie war party felt good in his gnarled hands; Ghurlak slashed at the air as he ran, exulting at the hungry, whickering sound they made. He hacked at the scraggly trees growing from the canyon walls, just to feel the solid thunk of impact and hear the splintering of wood as the crude weapons sheared through trunk and limb. When the rock walls pressed close he swiped at them as well, striking arcs of orange sparks from the stone. By the time he reached the fire-lit cavern at the feet of Black Crag, the edges of the iron blades were jagged and bright.
Bagrash’s cave was a low-hung seam carved deep into the side of a canyon wall, its granite brow stained black and yellow with the greasy smoke of Orc cook-fires. Filth of every description covered the rocky floor, pounded into a squishy carpet by the tread of dozens of heavy feet. Squeals and angry More >
