The Light and How to Swing It: Latest holy paladin preview for Mists of Pandaria
Nov 27th
Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Light and How to Swing It for holy, protection and retribution paladins. Every Sunday, Chase Christian invites you to discuss the finer side of the paladin class: the holy specialization. Feel free to email me with any questions you want answered, like why paladins are so awesome.
The official Mists of Pandaria talent calculators were released by Blizzard recently, including a list of each talent tree’s abilities. By diving into the skill list and analyzing the talents, there is a lot of information available. Most of the information is old, as we learned about many of the changes at BlizzCon and in the developer question and answer sessions.
It’s hard to draw any concrete conclusions from the talent preview because the Blizzard team has stated that everything is still up in the air. Since the information is still in a pre-alpha state, I can guarantee you that what we’re seeing today will be changed dramatically by the time Mists of Pandaria is released. While we can’t make any firm predictions, we can gain some insight into the direction that holy paladins are headed, and we can offer feedback to the developers on that direction.

Know Your Lore: The Dragon Soul
Nov 27th
The World of Warcraft is an expansive universe. You’re playing the game, you’re fighting the bosses, you know the how — but do you know the why? Each week, Matthew Rossi and Anne Stickney make sure you Know Your Lore by covering the history of the story behind World of Warcraft.
It was a tiny, small, inconsequential disc. Golden in color, simple in appearance, the talisman was far more dangerous than any could comprehend. Well … almost anyone. The goblin servants of Neltharion, the Earth-Warder, created the object, and even they weren’t truly aware of just how terrible that creation truly was. For the golden disc held not only the power to tear through the Burning Legion; it held the power to control every dragon, every flight in the world — with the exception of Neltharion, of course.
For he would rule them all. The voices told him so and promised him glory above all creatures of the world, mortal or immortal, no matter how insignificant. The Burning Legion was simply an army of pests to be eliminated, as were the kaldorei; the War of the Ancients was a petty squabble marring the glorious moment of his ascension. It was only a matter More >
The Queue: Universal
Nov 27th
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.
I wish someone had told me that Stargate Universe was a good show while it was still on TV.
Nrethal asked:
Will 4.3 add any new hairstyles? Particularly the ones they didn’t finish in time for last patch.
None of which we’re aware. A shame!

Around Azeroth: The big ugly
Nov 27th
“Apparently, they’ll hand out those legendary staves to just about anyone,” writes submitter Urthejust of Stormrage (US-A). “Ur was more than a little concerned to find a Gordok Ogre astride Tarecgosa, hovering over Stormwind. Had the creature infiltrated the city in order to avenge the death of Cho’Gall, or had the corpulent beast defected from his tribe to join the forces of the Alliance in bringing down Deathwing? Did he just want the sweet dragon mount, or had Ur imbibed a few too many dwarven ales before flying over the city? So many questions.”

Nov 27th
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the AOL guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider’s pages.
Everyone took a path to get where they are in the today, both in life and in Azeroth. Whether you’re a heroic raider, an Auction House kingpin, a rabid collector, or even an ex-WoW player, at some point you stood at the crossroads and chose the path that got you where you are. Likewise, there is often a moment that crystallizes your desires and sends you decisively down the road. That moment is the turning point.
I spent a good amount of my time in WoW raiding. I eventually wound up as the GM of a raiding guild during patch 3.1. We were previously a fairly casual guild, but a few of us wanted to try our hands at hard modes. I found the prospect intriguing, so we went into Ulduar and began knocking down four-tower Flame Leviathan, Heartbreaker, and I Choose You Steelbreaker and pushed into the Keepers of Ulduar. This was fairly late in the Ulduar cycle, so we had the best gear we could get from normal mode content. We tore through the content at a rapid More >
The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Class and specialization abilities in Mists of Pandaria
Nov 26th
Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Care and Feeding of Warriors, the column dedicated to arms, fury and protection warriors. Despite repeated blows to the head from dragons, demons, Old Gods and whatever that thing over there was, Matthew Rossi will be your host.
Continuing the discussion from a month ago, we look again at the three specializations for warriors in Mists of Pandaria. We can do this because Blizzard itself has released the talent calculator for the expansion, and it has loads of information for us to go over. The calculator lists class abilities and specialization only abilities in addition to talents, which means we now have more details to examine in terms of what’s coming.
One thing I noted immediately was that yes, arms is going to be the only tree with Colossus Smash. It will be an ability gained at level 81, and the redesigned CS also applies the current Blood Frenzy debuff rather than its being applied via bleeds. Since this is what we expected would happen with arms in Mists back when we talked about it in October, I think it’s OK if we pat ourselves on the back here, fellow warriors. We saw this coming.

Totem Talk: Elemental shaman in patch 4.3
Nov 26th
Every week, WoW Insider brings you Totem Talk for elemental, enhancement, and restoration shaman. Josh Myers once only tackled the hard questions about enhancement but has recently expanded his sphere of responsibility to all shaman DPS specs. (And no, two-handed enhancement is still never coming back.)
This is it, guys: This is officially the last Totem Talk for elemental shaman I will write before patch 4.3 hits live servers. It might be this Tuesday, or it might be the sixth of December. Whichever it is, it’s pretty definite we’ll be seeing Dragon Soul within the next 10 days, barring a natural disaster, an alien invasion, or Mike Morhaime’s changing his mind, of course. Elemental is going through a few significant changes in 4.3. Our AoE will be totally revamped; we’ll be dropping Fire Nova from our AoE rotation entirely. Instead, we’ll be falling back on spamming the now cooldown-less Chain Lightning. Also, we’ll possibly drop Earthquake, but only if we can guarantee the mobs don’t move for 10 seconds. Ground-based AoEs are still very unreliable AoE damage.

The Light and How to Swing It: 4 trends for tanks apparent in the new MoP talent calculator
Nov 26th
Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Light and How to Swing It for holy, protection and retribution paladins. Protection specialist Matt Walsh spends most of his time receiving concussions for the benefit of 24 other people, obsessing over his hair (a Blood Elf racial!), and maintaining the tankadin-focused blog Righteous Defense.
On Wednesday, Blizzard released the preview of the Mists of Pandaria talent calculator, and while other classes were gleefully ripping through it like kids under a Christmas tree, the paladins were scrutinizing and trying to figure out exactly what had changed — looking for interesting divots in the chunk of coal, if you will.
I guess Blinding Shield is confirmed as our level 87 spell (though we’ve been there before, yes?), and Speed of Light is even more obviously the best first-tier talent choice. There are some minor things here and there, however, that tend to point toward larger trends that will hold sway over our beloved spec in the next expansion. In today’s column, I’ll dissect those trends along with all the evidence that points toward them and forms the foundations of what we can expect.

Why We Fight: Roleplaying the warrior
Nov 26th
All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. In World of Warcraft, that player is you! Each week, Anne Stickney brings you All the World’s a Stage with helpful hints, tips and tricks on the art of roleplay in WoW.
When you’re roleplaying a particular class, you can either choose to ignore the class aspects of what you play, or you can fully incorporate it into your roleplay. A studious magic user or priest can be just as much fun as a sneaky, devious rogue or a dark and brooding warlock — and death knights are a little bundle of joy, as we discovered last week.
But what about the warrior class? Strong, steadfast and fiercely devoted to bashing heads in, it’s a wonder to anyone what exactly goes through a warrior’s head. Some incorrectly view them automatically as less intelligent — after all, if you deliberately go out to get your head bashed in on a regular basis, what does that really say about your level of smarts? But warriors, as simplistic as they may appear to the outside observer, can be multileveled bundles of fun to roleplay, just as much as any other class out there.
