Google Chrome to Focus on Browser-based Games

Google Chrome, the online app store, will start to focus on providing the users with several browser-based games and these games will also have a feature that will allow the users to review, rate and bookmark games.
The announcement was released on Tuesday Mark DeLoura, Google game developer advocate, and Michael Mahemoff, Google Chrome developer advocate, at the Game Developer Conference Europe (GDC Europe). Mahemoff and Deloura showed the people in the conference what the browser will look like. They showed some screenshots of individual game pages which includes the ratings, reviews and friend’s ratings. Mahemoff and Deloura also highlighted the ease of posting contents. They said that there will be no approval process for the posting of contents.
One of the most remarkable parts of the announcement in the GDC Europe is the revenue shares that Google expects from its publishers. Some content publishers can keep almost 70 percent of the profit but Google is only taking a five percent processing payment. Google allows free games to be posted but games with in-game purchase will not be allowed. All the payments that will be incurred are required up-front and all the transactions must be done using the Google Checkout.
According to Deloura, the store will be up and available by October. CNET noted this announcement because Chrome OS devices will also be released on the same schedule. According to TechCrunch, it has made a closer look at the screenshots that are uploaded in 1up.com and suggested that the friends’ reviews or ratings is very significant. TechCrunch believes that the new Chrome web store will play a vital part in the new social networking site that Google is currently developing.
Google did not talk about its plans on social networking sites but because of the moves of Google, many believes that it will not give up on the social networking landscape.
