Luvinia Online: Zendo Area Tour

Luvinia Online launched late in 2011 and has already seen a significant content expansion added to the game. Called "Zendo", the new area brings over a hundred new quests and much more into Luvinia. We recently went along on a GM-led tour of Zendo. See what we found out!
The latest content expansion features the Zendo location. Our tour began at the Geneway College where we were met by members of the GM team. As all of our characters were well under the established 40+ character level for Zendo, we were automagically transported by the GM team.

If you’re a fan of the classic Grand Theft Auto games (the popular ones, not the older ones that nobody played), then we may have some good news for you as an MMO player. A new update has been released for the Multi Theft Auto mod (v1.3) that introduces voice chat, bringing us that much closer to a true GTA MMO.
The wildly popular mod for GTA: San Andreas adds multiplayer functionality to the original Rockstar game, which was released just over seven years ago. It also includes a full map editor, dedicated Windows server package, and everything else you need to rat-a-tat-tat your friends in a simulated Dr. Dre album setting.

Final Fantasy XIV adds direct subscription options

As Final Fantasy XIV forges ahead with its revived subscription model, Square-Enix is showing signs that it is listening to its customer base in regards to options. The company announced that players can now directly subscribe to the game with a credit or debit card through the account system.
Previously, Final Fantasy XIV utilized a convoluted system that required players to purchase an intermediary currency called Crysta, which was then spent on monthly subscription options. Not only did players find this complex and unnecessary, but there were issues with buying more Crysta than one actually needed.
According to the company, the ability to directly subscribe via credit card was “by far the most popular request received from the community.” FFXIV began charging for subscriptions earlier this month after more than a year of free service.
Blizzard job listing mentions ‘product placement’ within its next MMO

When details of Blizzard’s upcoming casual MMO, code-named Titan, are incredibly scarce due to the developer’s ironclad secrecy, it falls to enterprising fans to ferret out any scraps of information that may exist. One such player on the NeoGAF forums was combing through a Blizzard job posting for a Franchise Development Producer and noted an interesting line that indicated the studio could be mulling over the idea of in-game ads for its next MMO.
The line in question specifies that one of the duties of the position is to “work with major consumer brands to facilitate product placement and licensing within the world of Blizzard Entertainment’s next-gen MMO that enhances the gameplay experience.” Whether this is a sign that we’ll be seeing billboards for Skittles while we raid or that players will be able to get endorsements and decorate their outfits a la NASCAR cars is anyone’s guess.
It’s important to note that the rest of this position entails a number of efforts to promote Blizzard’s “next-gen MMO” outside of the tight-knit gaming sphere, including comics, action figures, and short movies.

The latest client update to Code Club AB’s construction-oriented sandbox title Wurm Online brings a cornucopia of new features to the game, but perhaps none so interesting as the addition of proximity voice chat. That’s right, players will now be able to vocally communicate with any players in the immediate vicinity without the use of third-party applications like Ventrilo or Mumble. Have you ever wanted to gather up your village group, sit around a fire, and tell stories or just enjoy a bit of idle banter? Maybe typing “oh god help there’s a rabid pachyderm devouring my face” just isn’t expedient enough when there’s a rabid pachyderm devouring your face. Either way, players now have access to proximity voice chat, an updated UI, and much more.

Blizzard yoinks Diablo III companion pets due to excessive cuteness

Charges of extreme cuteness have been directed at Blizzard ever since the company unveiled its Panda-themed expansion for World of Warcraft. If a new post on the Battle.net forums is any indication, that won’t be an issue for Diablo III.
A Blizz community manager penned an update regarding D3′s beta patch 10, and among the notes is the fact that the game’s companion scrolls are going away temporarily. “The companion pets felt like they were mandatory to maximize play efficiency and some of the pets were too cutesy for the gritty, dark world of Sanctuary,” Nethaera wrote.
The pets (and scrolls) aren’t gone for good, as the devs have plans for “a much cooler system (both mechanically and visually)” in the future.

En Masse comments on NCsoft TERA lawsuit by Jef Reahard

En Masse Entertainment has commented on a pending lawsuit by NCsoft that seeks to prevent the North American launch of TERA. As you would expect, there is virtually no detail on the proceedings, but En Masse publishing vice president Chris Lee does come out swinging, saying that the firm “outright rejects” NCsoft’s position and will fight it to the last.
NCsoft has alleged that former employees stole Lineage 3 code and art assets that were used to make TERA, and the firm has already scored a legal victory in Korea that resulted in jail time for some of the ex-staffers.
How all of this affects TERA’s U.S. release is unclear, though Lee says it’s business as usual for En Masse and its fans. “This situation has no impact on our continuing efforts to realize the vision we have for our game. Preparations for EVE Online’s annual Fanfest are well underway, and CCP has updated its website with a blog entry that gives gamers an idea of what to expect if they’re coming to Reykjavik in March.
CCP is adjusting its VIP office tour prize package this year. A contest entry will only set you back one PLEX (as opposed to the $1,000 minimum bid in years past). There’s also a poker tournament, a silent auction, and a battle of the bands in the offing.
What does all this have to do with New Eden, you’re asking?
