It’s Ziggs week at League of Legends as Riot Games pours out the love for this hexplosives-flinging gremlin. A new Champion Spotlight video gives a good overview of this character, highlighting Ziggs’ bomb-happy skills and key strategies for success. If being a Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight appeals to your playstyle, check out the video to see if Ziggs is your soulmate.
As part of the Ziggs celebration, there are two new skins for him in the store — Major Ziggs and Mad Scientist Ziggs — as well as a special skin for Poppy (Scarlet Hammer Poppy).
Check out the Champion Spotlight video after the cut and make sure to read up on Ziggs in our previous coverage of this new character!

TERA news is coming fast and furious lately, and luckily for En Masse, today’s blurb is a good one. The game is officially available for pre-order, and as you would expect, there are all kinds of options relating to various gifts and gadgets depending on where (and what version) you purchase. There’s also a bit of beta bribery in the form of automatic access to all five of the closed testing phases that begin this month and continue through April.
What about the editions?
Well, you can choose between standard, digital collector’s, and physical collector’s version, and the latter two come with an in-game mount and a couple of unique necklace items. The physical collector’s edition justifies its $79.99 price point with a cloth map, a soundtrack CD, a handbook, a compass, and a letter of marque. En Masse is also offering a couple of exclusives for purchasing directly through its online store.

THQ is definitely experiencing some troubles related to its uDraw flop and subsequent layoffs, as evidenced by a new document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. President and CEO Brian Farrell will take a pay cut for the year starting February 15, which reduces his salary from $718,500 to $359,250. His salary will go back up the next year.
His golden parachute has also been tailored a bit more closely, as the payment he’d receive upon departure from the company (either termination “without cause” or resignation with “good reason”) has been cut from three times his highest-ever bonus to just his highest-ever bonus. This is, of course, a small sacrifice compared to the THQ employees whose salaries went from “some” to “none.”
The board of directors is also seeing some cuts: all the other directors have “elected” to receive 50% less cash compensation for a year effective today.

It looks like the notorious Family Research Council has decided that it’s again time to dust off its pitchforks and light some torches, and this time the organization has Star Wars: The Old Republic in its sights. In a post on the Family Research Council’s website, president Tony Perkins announced that “in a galaxy not so far far away, Star Wars gamers have already gone to the dark side.”
Why are SWTOR players seeing a sudden influx of dark side points? Because, as the group states, “the new video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, has added a special feature: gay relationships.” Well, not quite — fans of the game know that same-gender romance arcs have been slated to be a post-launch feature since last fall but are still not part of the live game. The FRC is calling on players to think of the children and claims that parents and forum-goers alike are bothered by this “Star Warped way of thinking,” asking them to “show companies who the Force is really with!”

As part of the introduction of Fortresses, we introduced a mechanic to allow City Queuing via the scenario UI element. Unfortunately, this has led to some issues with the City invasion instances within the Live environment that were not discovered previously. Because of this, we need to remove this functionality, at least for the moment to ensure that players can queue and enjoy the City Instances properly.
This will mean players will need to enter the city via the doors to the city as they did previously.

Rift patch 1.7, also known as Carnival of the Ascended, has officially gone live. And in addition to the numerous game improvements and new features awaiting current Rift players, Trion Worlds has bundled an all-new way for new players to experience the game.
Called Rift Lite, this new mode allows anyone with a Trion account to play Rift until their character reaches level 20. There are no restrictions on play, no fees for registration, and no time limits for enjoying the trial. This means that new players could potentially get a few dozen hours of play completely free, which will help them decide whether Rift is a game they enjoy.
Rift isn’t the only game offering its early levels up for free – World of Warcraft recently adopted a similar scheme. It’s a smart bet when you look at it; most players are going to be more likely to pay for a game once they’ve invested some time in a character.
Scott Hartsman, executive producer for Rift, commented that the free version of the game was the best way for new players to get a quick taste of the Rift experience.
If you haven’t checked out Rift, now seems like a good time.

EverQuest II executive producer Dave "SmokeJumper" Georgeson has posted on the official forums some big news for players: Critical mitigation will be removed entirely from the game. The upcoming changes will first head to the test server and then to all EQ2 servers afterward.
Here are the details:
- Critical Mitigation (the stat) has been removed from the game.
- Critical Mitigation no longer displays on the Character pane (for obvious reasons, since it’s no longer in the game).
- NPCs no longer use Critical Bonus to add to critical damage.
- Buffs and debuffs that have Critical Mitigation elements to them will have those elements replaced with other elements instead, so that those buffs/debuffs do not lose effectiveness.
- Critical Mitigation values on adornments will be replaced with hit point values instead.
Read the full post and participate in the ongoing discussion on the EverQuest II forum.
