4.3.2 PTR and New File Optimization Tech
Jan 5th
Nethaera posted:
With the 4.3.2 patch well be testing some new file optimization tech. As you may be aware, with previous major expansion patches (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc.) weve carried out a time-consuming process to reorganize the game files currently installed on your hard drive to integrate all previous patch files, essentially cleaning up whats on your computer and reducing the full installation size. This process used to require an amount of free hard drive space double that of the entire installation size to complete, which is why weve reserved them for large expansion-sized patches. The new tech were testing with the 4.3.2 PTR will process these cleanups with no additional hard drive space required beyond what the patch is adding. Because of that you may see them appear more frequently with patches.
While the cleanup is occurring youll see a specific message on the launcher informing you the process is currently taking place. If you encounter any issues with the new process please be sure to visit our support site at http://www.battle.net/support/
Lore and Story
Jan 5th
Nethaera posted:
We’re always open to constructive feedback as long as it stays constructive. There are a few different types of thoughts from the community on these things that I’ve heard via podcasts or read on fansites and the forums here.
First, we’ve gotten lots of feedback through the years that it’s difficult to learn the story of World of Warcraft. Many players have expressed that they have concerns over too much story having to be found outside the game and not enough in the game, or even not being led to the story in the game and thus missing it. Obviously, this is something we’ve been trying to correct where we can and trying to find a balance between the two. We’re aware that Azeroth’s history and story is pretty vast and with each new expansion, we’re given the opportunity to expand on it even more.
Second, we’ve heard (as you’ve stated) that once through, it’s not as fun the second time. We’ve obviously experienced this as well in the past via Culling of Stratholme. As you saw there, we did eventually make it possible to skip this portion of the event, but there are risks involved with that too. More >

Patch 4.3.2 on public test realms now
Jan 3rd
If you want to buy some wow gold or wow item, please click here.
It appears that the holidays are over at Blizzard today, as our first new content since the launch of patch 4.3 has hit the public test realms with a few interesting tidbits. MMO-Champion has got the full scoop, showing off the datamined Feldrake mount as well as a new World of Warcraft optimization feature that can slim down WoW’s footprint on your system. A 64-bit game client is also teased with the addition of a Text x86 client marking, and new client strings show off some of the WoW parental controls.
A rideable Feldrake as well as an Eye of the Legion pet, hmm? Could these items give us any clues toward the Mists of Pandaria launch events that are going to be happening presumably within the next few months, making way for the next expansion? Are we getting a glimpse of a demonic invasion that will leave the Horde and the Alliance scrambling to fight off enemies from all sides?
Check out all of the changes for patch 4.3.2 over at MMO-Champion.
Blizzard vs Bots
Jan 3rd
Nevalistis shared some interesting info over the holidays about how Blizzard views and handles botting:
It is a paying account, why ban them?
This is one of the biggest misconceptions we have, and I genuinely wish we could permanently clear it up. I’ll provide a few hypothetical situations (mind you, these numbers are ENTIRELY made up).
Let’s say 90% of botters were compromised accounts. This means that 90% of these botters aren’t paying accounts; they’re stolen accounts, which are generally fueled by stolen credit cards. These payments usually get disputed and taken back, which actually costs us money. If we’re looking to make a purely fiscal observation, it makes no financial sense to let these continue (aside from the fact that we don’t like compromised accounts to begin with – we want our players to be playing their own accounts safely and enjoyably).
Let’s go on the other side of the fence and say 90% of these botters were otherwise legitimate players paying for their accounts, as you purport. When players bot, other players are inconvenienced by this behavior (and trust me, you guys outnumber the botters, even if you may feel it’s the other way around). The inconveniences range from normal players More >

Tip of the Day – Elite Tauren Chieftains
Jan 3rd
“Sometimes we forget about the little things in WoW that make you smile. Level 90 ETC for example. Did you know you can watch the Tauren Chieftains play for 5 minutes every 3 hours on the hour at the World’s End Tavern in Shattrath? You can also hear them play every night at 8pm in the Grim Guzzler in BRD.”Submitted by: Rill

Profiting off the Darkmoon Faire
Jan 2nd
Every week, WoW Insider brings you Gold Capped, in which Fox Van Allen and Basil “Euripides” Berntsen aim to show you how to make money on the Auction House. Feed Fox’s ego by emailing him, tweeting him at @foxvanallen, or sacrificing your first born to him.
Hey everyone, great news! The Darkmoon Faire is back in town! From now until Saturday, January 7, you can play some games, eat some carnival food, and … oh yeah, make a ton of money off it.
Usually, when new content is released, it’s only the level 85 characters who can make money hand over fist. But the coolest thing about the Darkmoon Faire is that you don’t need to be a level 85 character to participate in it, or even profit off it. A level 20 character can have just as much fun at, get just as much benefit from, and even make as much money as a level 85. It just takes the right amount of knowledge.
And, oh yeah, it also takes a Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide. You’re carrying one of those on you at all times, right? Right? Well, according to Wowhead, most of you sub-level 85 players aren’t. And that’s a gigantic missed opportunity for More >

The Darkmoon Faire is in full swing again, from now until Jan. 7. The event has run into some issues this month, but it’s still a grand ol’ time overall. Many of you are still working on your Darkmoon Faire achievements, however, and others still have yet to step onto the new Darkmoon Island at all.
So what can you do at the Faire? What games are there to play? What achievements can you earn? All of those questions and more are answered in our Guide to the new Darkmoon Faire. Don’t miss it.
