WoW Insider’s guide to Yor’sahj the Unsleeping
Dec 16th
Ready Check helps you prepare yourself and your raid for the bosses that simply require killing. Check back with Ready Check each week for the latest pointers on killing adds, not standing in fire, and hoping for loot that won’t drop. Questions, comments, or something you would like to see? Welcome back to another exciting WoW Insider strategy guide. This guide will detail how to take down Yor’sahj, the Unsleeping in the Dragon Soul raid. Previously, we have gone over how to kill Morchok and Warlord Zon’ozz as well; marking this the third encounter within the raid.
Yor’sahj is an amazingly fun fight, in fact it’s my favorite encounter in the whole zone. That’s because it’s never quite the same fight twice, there’s always something a little different about it that makes you think on your feet and adjust to the situation. I only wish my bosses gained random ability combinations instead of always going through the same ability list on a set pattern. Oh well, dreamers can dream I guess.

The Light and How to Swing It: Tanking the first 3 bosses of Dragon Soul
Dec 16th
Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Light and How to Swing It for holy, protection and retribution paladins. Protection specialist Matt Walsh spends most of his time receiving concussions for the benefit of 24 other people, obsessing over his hair (a blood elf racial!), and maintaining the tankadin-focused blog Righteous Defense.
In the previous weeks, we’ve talked about getting prepped for patch 4.3, how to hit the ground running, and what pieces of gear should be on your hit list. Now we’ve come to the main event: the Dragon Soul raid. Deathwing’s forces are assaulting Wyrmrest Temple, and it’s up to you and your allies to knock them over and finally put a stop to his perfidy. The fights ahead will test your skills and the limits of your survivability. You’ll also be taunt swapping like you’ve never taunt swapped before (which is its own kind of exciting).
Morchok
Morchok is a fairly simple encounter (and “fairly” is being generous). Consider it the Lootreaver of Dragon Soul.
When you pull Morchok, turn him away from the raid. His Stomp attack will split damage among all targets within 25 yards, but the two closest (that is, you and your co-tank) get a double share of the damage. More >
Phat Loot Phriday: Shriveled Heart
Dec 16th
When last we left our heroes, Lolegolas had just decked Throgg across the jaw. Miranda was doing her best impression of being surprised, and the Gilnean just looked slightly embarrassed. As you do.
“What is wrong with you?” Lolegolas screamed. The blood elf’s body vibrated with rage. His green eyes shimmered. “How could you? What were you thinking?”
Throgg picked himself up from the ground slowly, holding a hand palm-out toward the enraged blood elf. “It’s not like that,” Throgg said. “Miranda said that she needed help.”
The young girl stepped forward to speak, but the Gilnean appeared from the shadows, laying a hand on her shoulder. “Hush, child,” the druid whispered. “This has been coming.”
“I’m sure she did,” the blood elf retorted. “I’m sure you were doing the right thing; but you have to stop doing the right thing, Throgg. You’re going to die if you keep this up!”
“Guys, about the dark wizard … ” Miranda tried to interrupt. “We don’t have time for this.”
“You!” Lolegolas said, whirling to face the girl. “We came here to rescue you from tauren, not to go hunting abominations. What happened to the Grimtotem? Why would you even come to Darkshire?”
“Leave her alone,” Throgg said. “You are More >

The necessary relationship between Blizzard and law enforcement
Dec 16th
Pop law abounds in The Lawbringer, your weekly dose of WoW, the law, video games and the MMO genre. Mathew McCurley takes you through the world running parallel to the games we love and enjoy, full of rules, regulations, pitfalls and traps.
Back in 2009, a man named Alfred Hightower escaped to Canada from the United States after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Indiana for drug dealing and other charges. The Howard County Sheriff’s Department had no idea where Hightower ran off to until a deputy figured out that Alfred Hightower was a World of Warcraft player. After a politely worded request for information about the guy to Blizzard, the detectives had everything they needed to find, alert the proper authorities in Canada, and arrest Alfred Hightower.
Blizzard didn’t really have to easily comply with the information request by the Howard County Sheriffs Department but did so in a smooth and cooperative way. Sure, there are scenarios where some information would be compulsory and downright necessary (in the case of national emergency or someone in mortal danger), but this was just some dealer who ran to Canada. There’s usually a longer process.

Raid Rx: Healing Ultraxion and Warmaster Blackhorn
Dec 16th
Every week, Raid Rx will help you quarterback your healers to victory! Your host is Matt Low, the grand poohbah of World of Matticus and a founder of Plus Heal, a discussion community for healers of all experience levels and interests. Catch his weekly podcast on healing, raiding and leading, the Matticast. In every expansion, there’s always been at least one raid boss that’s really defined healers. In this expansion, we had Chimaeron back in Blackwing Descent. We’ve got another one in Ultraxion over in the new Dragon Soul raid in patch 4.3. This guy is a (literal) beast. After that, we get another crack on the next gunship encounter.
Setting up to heal Ultraxion
When you’re setting up for Ultraxion, there are a few things you need to do. Decide on the number of healers you wish to use. I would highly recommend opening with five healers. The DPS requirements on normal encounter can be a challenge to match.
The next step is to figure out your buffs. There are three different healing buffs you can get. On 10-man, you get one type of crystal; on 25-man, you get two sets.
- Gift of Life This comes from Alexstrasza. It’ll be the first set of crystals More >
Gold Capped: Selling valor point gear
Dec 16th
Every week, WoW Insider brings you Gold Capped, in which Basil “Euripides” Berntsen and Fox Van Allen aim to show you how to make money on the Auction House. Check out Fox and Basil’s reboot of Call To Auction, and Email Basil with your questions, comments, or hate mail!
Every single content patch, Blizzard turns the tables on gold makers and, for a brief period of time, allows any player to make tens of thousands of gold by selling valor point-bought BoE gear. We’ve all seen the ads in trade of people looking to buy them or sell them, but most people focus on their own gear first and only think about selling them once they’ve gotten a few upgrades. Is this unwise?
What if I told you that you could get several thousand gold and still have as much valor gear at the end of the month as your guildie who didn’t sell a single BoE? It’s all about timing. The valor point weekly cap is 1,000, and in the beginning of the week that valor BoEs are available for purchase, the prices are extremely high. They stay high for a few weeks but quickly plummet as people start to use More >
