The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Talents in Mists of Pandaria
Dec 3rd
Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Care and Feeding of Warriors, the column dedicated to arms, fury and protection warriors. Despite repeated blows to the head from dragons, demons, Old Gods and whatever that thing over there was, Matthew Rossi will be your host.
Last week, we talked about the Mists of Pandaria talent calculator and the class and spec abilities it reveals. This week, we’ll be discussing the new talents and their general design philosophy.
One of the design changes for Mists that I’ve found compelling is the removal of “idiot talents.” These are the talents that you simply have to take. A protection warrior without Bastion of Defense isn’t really a prot warrior; at the very least, he or she is a bad prot warrior. Now, while I applaud the intent of the talent changes, that doesn’t mean I love each and every one of them. However, since it’s still patch 4.3 and we won’t see these talents in game until patch 5.0 at the earliest, it’s hardly time to panic (or applaud, for that matter).
These talents are divided into six tiers, one at each 15 levels from 15 to 90. Three talents are available at each tier, meaning that you can take More >
The Queue: I will not.
Dec 3rd
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.
Between Thrall’s downright Alucardian delivery of that line, Tyrande’s exotic new accent, Murozond’s “I did not know!,” and Illidan’s “strike in an area!,” 4.3 is a treasure trove of unintentionally hilarious lines.
Slim1256 asked:
In End Time last night, our pally tank was doing ridonculous DPS – typically 2nd or 3rd on the meters, in a competent guild group with decent gear. However, when we moved on to Well of Eternity, the tank’s DPS dropped to a more normal level.
Is there a buff for tanks in End Time that I missed? Was it an anomaly? Did the slight Ret pally buffs really make that big a difference for Prot pallys?
If you guys fought Baine, it’s possible that your tank was affected by Molten Fists, the buff that you get from being in the lava during the Baine encounter. My rogue was pulling insane DPS in that fight thanks to that buff.
And Murozond, well … Murozond lets you use all the cooldowns you want, basically. I can’t recall offhand what DPS cooldowns non-ret More >
Around Azeroth: Bloody well right
Dec 3rd
Is Dexter playing WoW nowadays? Submitter Aaron was just tooling around Borean Tundra when his mount suddenly exploded, showering the area with gore and keeping local glue factories in business for weeks to come. The Stormwind Police Department’s search for the madman who planted timed bombs in bags of oats would turn out to be fruitless, and Aaron was forced to finally shell out the cash for a flying mount rather than just having a priest cast Levitate on his horse.

Nostalgia is a very strong thing. Even in the short lifespan of World of Warcraft, we often look back to better times or particular events with much pleasure and longing. For some, it may be the good old days of 40-man raiding, when every boss downed seemed a great triumph. For others, it may be a particularly hard-won Battleground fight, where, at the end, you knew you gave it your all. But it doesn’t have to be that particular. Maybe you miss a certain guild or a group of friends who are no longer in the game. Maybe it was more about the time and the place … a certain expansion and questing zone. Some of the best times may not involve fighting at all … just sitting on Vent and laughing with friends.
While I’m enjoying all the friends I have now and like the current expansion, I do long for certain times from the past. I miss the wonder I had when I first stepped through the dark portal and slowly learning just how my class worked More >
A Day in the Life of a Community Manager
Dec 3rd
Kaivax posted:
Against my better judgment, weve just published A Day in the Life Micah Whipple on our 20th Anniversary website, chronicling a single day in the life of our most-senior community manager. In this unauthorized autobiography, Micah gives you an inside look at what its like to be Bashiok, what its like to not be Bashiok, and what its like to write an essay that is almost entirely devoid of facts.

I hit the snooze button. 8:20am
Normally Id hit the snooze button a few more times, but I manage to roll out of bed, abandoning the soft warmth of my sheets for the cold, bitter world. Im not a morning person. Some mornings Im also not a shower person. This is one of those mornings.
I tend to get into work, most days, at around 9:00 a.m. Im a community manager, which isnt my actual title (thatd be editor), but it refers to the work I do. These days I go by my super-secret name Bashiok, and More >
Patch 4.3 hotfixes for Dec. 2
Dec 2nd
Hotfixes are in for Dec. 2, with the expected fix to the Raid Finder exploit that was causing incredibly fast gear-ups for players who queued over and over. Raid Finder loot should now work in its intended fashion. Dragon Soul and the three new 5-man dungeons also got some quick fixes for a few annoying bugs. Hit the jump for the full list of hotfixes.

A day in the life of Bashiok

Have you ever wanted to email Ghostcrawler? Maybe send him a message ranting about the state of enhancement shaman AoE, or send him one of those awesomely tacky ecards to thank him for giving rogues their 8 billionth legendary? What if he actually responded to your emails? If your name is Micah Whipple, codename Bashiok, this dream is a reality. Blizzard’s A Day in the Life series just published A Day in the Life of Bashiok, one of Blizzard’s community managers. CMs can have the dubious distinction of being the third most oft-cursed names by World of Warcraft players, next to Ghostcrawler and possibly Mike Morhaime. They’re the players’ links to the world-spanning organization that is Blizzard Entertainment and thus the easy target of a lot of hunter angst.

Shifting Perspectives: Patch 4.3 gear list for balance druids
Dec 2nd
Every week, WoW Insider brings you Shifting Perspectives for cat , bear , restoration and balance druids. Balance news comes at you every Friday — learn how to master the forces of nature, and know what it means to be a giant laser turkey! Send questions, comments, or requests for something you’d like to see to tyler@wowinsider.com or on Twitter @murmursofadruid.
Hail, druids, and welcome to the wondrous world of a new patch! This patch didn’t hold much for us in the ways of personal meat. We got a wicked-awesome new Hurricane animation and a neat new Wrath one as well, but otherwise, things trudge along as normal with our lot. That’s perfectly dandy in my book. We’re still going along strong as a solid DPS choice, and things are good.
This week I’m dedicating to gearing ourselves up in all of that lovely new content that has just been released. Whether you’re a dungeoneer or a hardcore raider, there’s tons of new loot to look at, and that’s exactly that we’re going to do. As a side note, I do have to say that I am super-excited about having patch 4.3. The content so far has been gloriously fun, and though I’m sure I’ll change my More >
The Light and How to Swing It: 3 things tankadins need to know
Dec 2nd
Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Light and How to Swing It for holy, protection and retribution paladins. Protection specialist Matt Walsh spends most of his time receiving concussions for the benefit of 24 other people, obsessing over his hair (a Blood Elf racial!), and maintaining the tankadin-focused blog Righteous Defense.
Patch 4.3 is upon us, and the Hour of Twilight has come. Once more, it falls to us rugged men and women of plate-covered action to strap on our Bulwarks of Azzinoth (because, seriously, what other shield would you transmogrify to?) and march into the fray. Deathwing’s assault on Azeroth is coming to a head, and to make sure we’re ready for the challenges beyond, we need to be as prepared as possible.
4.3 is a pretty tame patch when it comes to class changes — no nerfs or buffs galore … my kind of patch. Nonetheless, there are three key things you need to know about the patch to bring your absolute best to the table. Let’s dig in.
