EverQuest II: Battlegrounds Launch Date Set, New Trailer Released!

Sony Online Entertainment has released a slick new trailer showing off the recently announced Battlegrounds feature, which is set to debut next Tuesday, February 16th.
Battlegrounds are instanced PvP scenarios a’la World of Warcraft for up to 48 players, with the initial offering featuring cross-server play, three game modes (Capture the Flag, Hold the Relic, and Hold Territory), three maps, and new exclusive armor sets.

EQ II Battlegrounds Are Coming

On February 16, 2010 the long awaited introduction of battlegrounds is scheduled to arrive in EverQuest II as a complimentary addition for current EQII subscribers with characters level 80-90. Battlegrounds allow players to engage in the most exciting and intense PvP battle against their friends or foes, regardless of server, and provide thrilling group-based, competitive matches in three all-new zones. Participants can quickly join the nonstop action in three different types of matches, with up to 48 players total. On the Battlegrounds there is a role for all, no matter the class, each player can support or lead the group to victory and reap the rewards of the all-new Chaos armor sets!
Additionally, EverQuest II players who login between Feb. 16, 2010 and Feb. 18, 2010 receive the Warrior of Chaos statue!

Join the Relief Efforts for Haiti with SOE

The earthquake happeded on Jan. 12th has caused huge damage in Haiti. Sony Online Entertainment is offering players a chance to give helping hand to those in need. For every purchase of special station items in EverQuest, EverQuest 2, and Free Realms, SOE will donate USD10 to the relief efforts in Haiti.
On January 12th, 2010, a massive earthquake devastated the island nation of Haiti. In an effort to show support and lend aid, SOE will be offering items priced at 500SC on the Station Marketplace through EverQuest, EverQuest II, and Free Realms.
From January 15th to January 18th at 11:59pm PST, redeem 500 station cash towards the purchase of one of these items and SOE will contribute $10 (up to $25,000) to aid in the relief efforts being sent to Haiti.

Experience a Virtual Wonderland

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. Dec. 16, 2009 Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) fills players virtual stockings with holiday cheer this holiday season with in-game activities and festive events in its online video games. This December, EverQuest®, EverQuest® II and Free Realms players will enjoy celebrations filled with themed events, special quests and seasonal treats. Pirates of the Burning Sea will be celebrating Junkanoo, Wookiee Life Day returns to Star Wars Galaxies, and in Vanguard Saga of Heroes the annual Festival of Gloriann has arrived.
In-game events are as follows:
EverQuest®: The annual Frostfell event runs from Dec. 10, to Jan. 7 in EverQuest. In the Plane of Knowledge, the Frostfell celebrations have been spoiled by a state of thievery, and it is up to the players to save the celebration. Many families have been awakened by ruffians and monsters breaking into their homes and carrying off presents intended for the children of the Realm. Players are needed to help track down the monsters that committed these crimes and return the missing presents. Players should also visit the Marketplace to check out the all the new Frostfell items.

EverQuest II: Looking Back a Month – November

MMORPG.com EverQuest II Reporter Phil James writes this look back at the events of the month of November in SOE’s EverQuest II.
Overall a pretty exciting month… Over here in the UK, in November, we celebrate ’Guy Fawkes Night’ more commonly called ’Bonfire Night’. It seems big fires and fireworks are more worthy of celebration than failed terrorist plots. Going stateside, November is the month of Thanksgiving, but from a gaming point of view, it’s more than fires and turkey, it’s a very exciting month. Traditionally, the pre-Christmas ’Triple-A’ releases all vie for our attention and back in the day, before I was aware of MMOs, November was ’Tomb Raider Month’. But now, for ’Everquest II’ subscribers like me, it is expansion month.
But not this year. We won’t receive the new expansion, Sentinel’s Fate, until next February. This delay is a small price to pay for an extra bit of polish, in my humble opinion, but that doesn’t make for a good article now does it? So, what are we to do in the meantime?

EverQuest II: Sentinel’s Fate Pre-order’s Begin!

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that pre-orders for the next EverQuest 2 expansion, Sentinel’s Fate, are now available!
Sentinel’s Fate will include all five previously released expansions, the new expansion (of course), a new level cap of 90, two new zones, 400 new quests, 12 new dungeons, new AA abilities, 2,000 new items, 500 Station Cash, and the Fall of Erudin EQ2 TCG scenario.

EverQuest 2 New Expansion Sentinel’s Fate Preorder is Beginning!
