CSM8 Town Hall on June 16 at 1900 EVE time – news from EvE
Jun 14th
The 8th Council of Stellar Management (CSM8) will be holding its first Town Hall on June 16 at 1900 EVE time. This is an excellent opportunity to speak with your elected representatives to CCP on matters that you feel are important in New Eden. CSM8 is working in cooperation with EVE University and EVE Radio to provide an interactive session where you can listen, ask questions, learn about what the latest CSM is up to.
The focus of this particular Town Hall will be player reactions to the Odyssey expansion, suggestions for topics for us to take to the first CSM/CCP Summit, any final questions about the CSM8 election cycle, and of course, general questions from EVE players on any topic they desire.
The Town Hall will last for one hour. Any interested player is invited to attend! You can learn how to attend at this thread on the EVE Online forums. Hope to see you there!
Alliance Tournament XI Silent Auction Now Live – news from EvE
Jun 14th
The random draw for Alliance Tournament XI was streamed live yesterday through CCP Games Twitch.tv channel. The VOD from the draw can be seen here, and the results of the draw can be seen here.
From today to 23:59 UTC on June 16th, we will accept bids from alliances towards one of the remaining 32 spots in the tournament. All alliances are able to participate in the silent auction regardless of if they were signed up for the random draw. Submit all bids to CCP Gargant via EVEmail.
A bid is accepted when CCP Gargant has an Eve-mail from the executor of the alliance and has a personal contract assigned to him with the PLEX of the bid. Teams who did sign up for the draw should contract five fewer PLEX than their bid to account for the PLEX that were reverse-redeemed during signup for the draw. If your bid does not win you one of the 32 spots in the tournament, the contract will be cancelled and any reverse-redeemed PLEX will be refunded.
The 11th Alliance Tournament is gearing up to be quite the spectacle once it kicks off on the 20th of July. The Tournament Team has taken strides to lower the More >
Changes to the EVE Naming Policy – news from EvE
Jun 11th
We have made some small edits to our “EVE Online User and Character Name Policy” for the purpose of clarifying a few things and also to establish the fact that the policy includes all player named entities, not just character names.
First, we changed the name of the policy from “EVE Online User and Character Name Policy” to “EVE Online Naming Policy” in order to better fit the actual purpose it serves. Then, we changed the heading of section 2. from “CHARACTER NAMES” to “IN-GAME NAMES” so that it is made clear that the policy covers much more than just the names of characters. As further clarification of this, section 2. b. has been expanded to say:
“In-game names include, but are not limited to: Character names, corporation names, alliance names and any other player-nameable item or entity within the game world.”
Also, we have added section 2.c. which states:
“c. No player may use the character name of another player to impersonate or falsely represent his or her identity. Player created corporation and alliance names also fall under this policy, as does any other in-game entity named by players”
This is to strenghten the impersonation part of the policy and to clear up any misunderstanding there may have More >

We apologize to all our Mac users who have purchased EVE Online: Odyssey via Steam and are currently unable to play. The Mac client for integration with Steam is currently in testing, which will be completed as soon as possible. We hope to deliver the client within the next week.

We will of course be fully reimbursing all lost game time in the run up until the Steam based Mac client goes live, and apologize for any inconvenience that this issue has caused.
Skillpoint gift due to the downtime on June 2nd and 3rd – news from EvE
Jun 5th
Last weekend EVE experienced its longest downtime in quite a while and as a result CCP has decided to give everyone 50.000 unallocated skill points. The cause of the downtime was a malicious attack on our servers but nevertheless we want to make sure that all our players walk away with uninterrepted skill training plans. The skill points will be issued only to players with fully active EVE Online accounts. Players who are on a trial account have been gifted an extra 7 days to their trial time.
You can read more about the incident in this statement by our Chief Operating Officer, CCP Spielmann. A friendly reminder if you hear of someone doing or planning something bad, even if it’s your friend, we do have the PLEX for snitches program.
The skill points were distributed during today's deployment of EVE Online: Odyssey and all active accounts were eligible, barring trial accounts.
This is the second time in the last two weeks that we've resorted to giving out 50.000 skill points due to technical issues so as a result some players may find they have 100.000 unallocated skill points in their skill point pool. Spend them wisely and make sure to check out More >
Pre-Odyssey Advanced Military Career Arcs in progress to be reset – news from EvE
Jun 5th
We recently discovered an issue where players who started the Advanced Military Career Arc prior to the deployment of the EVE Odyssey expansion are receiving the generic Destroyers skillbook upon completion of the 8th mission in the arc rather than the newly-released racial varient. In order to resolve this issue, we will be deploying a script prior to this weekend that will reset the arc for all players who are currently on the arc. Those who have already completed the 8th mission and received the incorrect skillbook will have the correct skill reimbursed to them next week.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused to our capsuleers-in-training.
EVE Online: Odyssey Launched
Jun 4th
EVE Online players can now enter the game for the summer expansion, Odyssey. Odyssey is the nineteenth expansion to the decade-old game and includes a host of useful new features, most notably Odyssey introduces the Sensor Overlay, a "new system that helps players uncover the riches, riddles and relics hidden among the stars."
EVE Online: Odyssey brings evolved and enhanced spaceship metrics for multiple ship classes and redistributed stellar resource landscape, exploration sites, and NPC loot across the universe. These changes will shake up EVE’s player-driven economy and rattle tenuous diplomatic ties between even the largest player alliances of New Eden. Allegiances will shift, markets will boom and crash, and fresh wars will rage across the cosmos as EVE’s notorious pilots do what they do best—follow their ambitions and live their own unique and dramatic stories.
Just in time for these upheavals, Odyssey also rolls out brand new Navy Battlecruisers in which to explore, exploit, and conquer the galaxy. Player-owned starbases have also gotten an update, as the new expansion introduces dozens of fixes, updates, user interface innovations, and enhanced features such as radial menus and probe formations to make EVE Online more accessible without sacrificing its world-renowned depth.

EVE Online: CCP Fighting Off Major DDOS Attack
Jun 3rd
UPDATE: The servers are back online and CCP Spielman has written a detailed developer blog about the outage.
What we can now confirm is that a person was able to utilize a vulnerability in one of the back-end services that support the operation of the Tranquility server. This vulnerability has now been secured and thoroughly tested.
We would like to stress that at no time was customer data compromised or accessible in any way.
CCP Games has taken both DUST 514 and EVE offline due to a sever DDOS attack. The team reported the outage via Twitter and have posted an update on Facebook.
Our engineers are close to resolving the issues on Tranquility. We aim to have have our servers live as soon as we possibly can. Thank you for your continued patience.
Servers are reportedly still down. We will keep you posted as the story develops.
Thanks, Coolit, for the tip!
