Writing Contest Winners Announced – news from EvE
Apr 18th
Gulfonodi, Molden Heath – Last week Silver Night of Re-Awakened Technologies Inc, Electus Matari, announced the eight winners of his second annual fiction contest, with Matariki Rain’s story “True Lines” taking first place. The writing contest was announced six weeks ago and, like last year’s contest, only accepted stories about non-capsuleers. Silver Night said he was very happy with the number and quality of entries. First place was awarded to Matakari Rain, CEO of Lutinari Syndicate in Electus Matari alliance. Her story, “True Lines,” told the tale of a former slave returning to the Republic. Silver Night said “Matariki’s story stood out for me. It was artfully rendered and thought-provoking … [it] held a note of hope.” Matariki was pleasantly surprised by her victory. She explained that she aimed high with her story but was prepared for a low ranking. As winner of first place in Silver Night’s Second Annual Fiction Contest, Matariki Rain will receive 300 million ISK and a faction battleship but has not chosen which. She said she was considering either “a Bhaalgorn [or] a Machariel: definitely something with a Matari component.” GalNet References

Majesta Empire Suffer Theft – news from EvE
Apr 17th
TVN-FM, Vale of the Silent – Last week, Majesta Empire [ME], a member alliance of the Northern Coalition [NC], was robbed by a trusted member, Trina Forrest.
Forrest, a former director in ME corporation, Reliables Inc, used her roles to clear out her corporation’s wallet and hangars, netting approximately 30 billion ISK, 100 billion in researched original blueprints, a Nyx supercarrier and several billion in moon products. Some POS modules and fuels were also taken.
At the same time, MR ZVER, a close associate of Forrest’s, cleaned out the corporation wallets and hangars of The Privy Council, the ME holding corporation. This netted them an estimated additional 300 billion in ISK and 70 billion in assorted assets.
The stolen ISK was intended to pay for the alliance’s sovereignty bills but according to Tekai Foo, leader of Majesta Empire, “many corporations within ME have already offered to cover sov cost as have alliances and corps in the NC”. They have so far received over 70 billion isk in donations and loans from corps and individuals both within ME and within the NC.
Forrest, who had been a member of Reliables Inc for ten months, five of which was spent as a director, had the following More >
CSM6 Fireside Chat recording available – news from EvE
Apr 16th
As announced in this guest dev blog, the 6th Council of Stellar Managament held a “Fireside Chat” this weekend which included information about the direction they want to head as well as a Q&A session at the end. This thread has all the details about downloading it as well as a handy timestamp guide to the topics–and is the perfect place for discussion to be held.
CCP would like to thank the CSM for this unique and important initiative. We hope that all pilots of New Eden find a chance to listen in–on your morning commutes, during your EVE commutes or in little chunks while waiting for that Fleet op to assemble. It’s important to get to you know your CSM6, even if you didn’t vote for them. Joining in the discussion is equally important so they can better represent you during their term.
EVE Online: Forum Security & You
Apr 12th
CCP Sreegs has posted a new blog about the recent security issues with the EVE Online forums. In it, Sreegs details the exploits, what has and is shut down, what fans should be concerned about and more. It's a good read and, in typical CCP fashion, reveals the plan to fix it ASAP.
We do not see any evidence of anyone being able to access your personal information or credit cards, which are actually stored in a secure environment which isn't in the communication path for the forums in any way. In essence, the vulnerabilities were limited to people's ability to escalate their privileges on the forum itself and nowhere else. Even were someone able to have injected script the method by which your information would have been at risk would have been in the form of malware, session theft or keylogging of your local machine rather than some window into our secure environment. That being said, it's always a best practice to keep your computers safe from malware and your passwords changed on a regular basis and now's as good a time as any to scan that PC and change your password.

Northern Coalition Attacked on All Fronts – news from EvE
Apr 10th
6OYQ-Z, Tenal – The Northern Coalition [NC] is currently being pressed hard by fleets from the Drone Region Federation, Pandemic Legion and the Northern Coalition. alliance.
Today, a fleet from the Northern Coalition. alliance, along with allies Ev0ke, Ewoks, Not Found., Polaris Syndicate, Cartel. and Merciless. reinforced five out of eleven Capital Ship Assembly Array towers in the 6OYQ-Z system in Tenal during a three-hour joint operation. They have also been attacking in Pure Blind and Fade regions.
Simultaneously, Raiden. and the Drone Region Federation have been attacking towers in Vale of the Silent, Venal and Geminate.
The plan seems to be to collectively deprive the NC of a part of their capital ship production facilities as well as the extremely valuable Technitium deposits in the Venal region.
A spokesman for the Drone Region Federation had the following to say about the attack on their enemies: “Everything they do is to split NC forces, just like in any war, you need someone making the front line as big as you can. This tactic has always worked against those who can only fight when they outnumber, but if they have split interests and split areas, they will either have to choose or break down.”

Heathen of the Year to be Chosen – news from EvE
Apr 6th
Karasi, Derelik – Kazzzi, of Heathen Legion, part of the Ushra’Khan alliance, has announced the Heathen Achievement Award. It will be awarded to the capsuleer who is best able to express their hatred for the Amarr Empire.
Kazzzi intends to “bring reform to the Amarr Empire by any means necessary and provide aid to those free-thinking Amarrian citizens oppressed by their own tyrannical government”.
The competition has so far received interest from both Amarr and Sansha loyalists.
The latter refuse to talk exclusively of hate, with ValentinaDLM of Zaratha Zarati stating: “I do hope that when Master Kuvakei decides to show the Empire and Republic what unity feels like, that they will finally understand there was never a need for conflict.”
On the other hand, Amarr loyalists such as Rodj Blake of PIE Inc., dismiss the award as a meaningless show of hatred: “The enemies of Amarr are not motivated by a desire to create a better world, but by hatred of the existing order. Because they primarily seek destruction rather than construction, they collectively have little idea what it is that they want to replace the Empire with.”
As a reward to the best participant, to be chosen by Kazzzi himself, Heathen Legion plans to More >
EVE Online: A Future Vision – Commentary
Apr 1st
After spending last weekend at the EVE Online Fan Fest, MMORPG.com Managing Editor Jon Wood came away with a lot of new information both about the game as it is now and what CCP plans for the future. In today's article, Jon takes a look at "A Future Vision" as presented by CCP during Fan Fest. See what Jon has to say about it and then leave a comment or two below.
With Incarna starting to roll out, I wonder if some folks aren’t going to see this video and look for the moon, when the short term reality is actually significantly less. Sure, walking through stations and getting involved in all kinds of political intrigue sounds completely awesome, and it’s something I’m looking forward to in the game, but that’s nowhere near where the developers are going to be when Incarna starts to roll out this summer.

Intense Fighting in R6XN-9 – news from EvE
Apr 1st
R6XN-9, Pure Blind – Forces from the Northern Coalition [NC] and the allied Deklein Coalition clashed with the Northern Coalition. [NCDOT] and Merciless. alliances in R6XN-9 on the 30th of last month. The Northern Coalition formed three fleets to defend several control towers that had been put into reinforced mode by NCDOT, with NCDOT fielding a heavily-plated Abbadon-focused fleet. NCDOT’s commander, Vince Draken, relied on a system of warp disruptor bubbles and timing to slow Northern Coalition reinforcements and divide their fleets. While the NC fleet received reinforcements throughout the fight, NCDOT forces reshipped repeatedly, maintaining a solid presence on the field, and eventually managed to destroy a Technetium-mining tower that had exited reinforced mode in culmination of a battle that lasted more than two hours. According to one NC informant, their fleet became embroiled in two seperate, simultaneous engagements in the system. He described the situation as chaotic at that point and stated that, in his view, they had no clear orders. Official representatives of the Northern Coalition, however, were contacted but declined to comment. Fighting has continued in R6XN-9 over the last two days, with NCDOT control towers coming under assault in Northern Coalition counter-attacks.
