EVE Online: CCP Planning Overhaul of Ship Training
Mar 6th
CCP is announcing some big changes coming soon to EVE Online's ship training in the name of balancing the game moving forward.
Writing on the devblog, CCP Ytterbium outlines the changes. The first overhaul that CCP is considering has to do with cleaning up both ship progression and skill requirements.
Current ship progression looks like the chart above, and current design along with racial skill requirements have caused several issues to manifest. The proposal to fix things includes streamlining ship training by rearranging skill requirements for certain ships, and overall creating a system that is more intuitive and organized.
"To sum up, this means that tech 1 sub-capital vessels would take a bit longer to train for (from 9 to 17 days for Battleships for instance), capitals would be less time consuming (30 days faster) and tech 2 ships like Interdictors and Command Ships would require 14-20 less days to train for."
The full devblog fleshes out the proposals for improvement, as well as illustrating them for easier understanding. CCP seems to be going back to EVE's roots in several ways recently, far from last year's controversies.
EVE Online: The Rise and the Fall
Mar 5th
In this week's One Jump Home, we examine the rise and fall of alliances and what causes the unrest in EVE Online. It's high on the political intrigue, and not for the feint of heart.
EVE Online is a place of continuous turmoil. For as long as I can remember, I have always heard about an Alliance in the south that is legendary for one thing, if nothing else – Persistence. Failcascade after failcascade, invasion after invasion they hold on, rebuild and eventually come back. That Alliance is Against ALL Authorities, or -A- as they're more commonly known. I don't pretend to be an expert on what happens in the South of EVE Online. For all of my time playing this game I believe I've spent a maybe a month there spread out over the years. From flying with Goonswarm in Curse during my infancy as a player, to comedic hustling Feythabolis Gas out from under the nose of Red Alliance for a few beautiful weeks in the winter – and finally to my short stay in Delve. This is the limit of my experience with the South and its inhabitants.

Forum updates deployed: Corp Forums and Autosave Feature – news from EvE
Mar 5th
As reported in a recent dev blog, we’ve been working on adding corporation forums to the EVE forums. The launch got pushed back from the original date of February the 8th because we wanted to do more load testing and security testing, but now the results are in and we will deploy the corporation forums on Thursday, March 8th.
And just earlier today we deployed a few changes to the forums, the most notable being an autosave feature which will save a draft of your post every 45 seconds in case something happens that would otherwise cause you to lose your post. Bring on the long posts!
We also replaced the subforum “Breaking the Language Barrier” on the localized forums, with a “Features and Ideas” subforum.

EVE Online: $66M in Revenue & a Possible IPO in the Future
Feb 23rd
CCP Games has announced that EVE Online generated approximately $66M in revenue in 2011 and is anticipating that 2012 will exceed its predecessor. In addition, CCP revealed that EVE sports an impressive 400,000 subscribers and that the company, based on 2012 revenues, will be considering a public stock release at some point in the future.
As a result of its plans for DUST, as well as Asian expansion for EVE, CCP says 2012 will be its biggest year yet. In fact, the Icelandic company’s CEO Hilmar Veigar Petursson says an IPO is a possibility, though predictably, he wouldn’t commit to anything.

EVE Online: Backwards Then Forwards
Feb 22nd
The EVE Online blog has been updated with a new post called "Backwards Then Forwards" which, as the name implies, takes a look back at recent development and gives readers a peek ahead at what's on the road map for the future.
The look back begins with revisiting the v1.1 Crucible update from January which brought a lot of tweaks and improvements into the game. Players should also be seeing the team's efforts to deploy more frequent updates and hotfixes. Lastly, the EVE Online site has been totally overhauled with a more user-friendly interface and information system.
EVE’s developers are really getting into their stride for our upcoming releases. I recently emerged from many demos where the teams have been showing off their progress from their second sprint (short development cycle). I have to say that even at this early stage I think we have some great features, content and improvements for you coming up over the next 4-5 months. We are hoping to have a number of small releases as we go through February, March and April culminating in our major, war-themed release coming just before the summer, EVE Online: Inferno
Lastly, the post goes into some detail about how the team More >
