Final Fantasy XIV: Continuing Our Reform Work
Sep 28th
Andriasang is reporting that during a press event yesterday, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada spoke about upcoming titles currently in development and, simultaneously, offered a few thoughts about Final Fantasy XIV.
Square Enix has been implementing fixes for FFXIV since earlier this year. Said Wada about the fixes, "We'll continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released."
The latest patch for Final Fantasy XIV is expected to be released on October 4th as the team continues, as Wada said, the "reform" of the game.
FFXIV continues to be subscription free as the dev team works to respond to player concerns and to improve features that were considered poorly implemented at launch. The community remains split as to how successful the reform has been.

Final Fantasy XIV: New Patch Coming October 4th
Sep 27th
The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with an outline of the notes for the highly anticipated v1.19 patch. The patch is set to deploy on October 4th and brings several significant features to FFXIV.
According to a new Producer's Letter, the patch has been delayed slightly to accommodate more stability and to give the dev team more time for debugging.
To give players a bit of a heads up about the patch, the team has laid out the major changes coming in the v1.19 patch and indicated that both Ixal stronghold (Natalan) and Guildleve history evaluations will be delayed to the v1.19a update.

Lord of the Rings Online: The Fellowship Maneuver
Sep 26th
The Lord of the Rings Online team has penned a new developer diary featuring upcoming changes to the Fellowship Maneuver system coming with the Rise of Isengard expansion.
The team acknowledges that there has been some dissent about the disabling of the Fellowship Maneuver in boss fights and proposes a compromise in that players will be able to use them but at the right time. The indication is that players will know when the right time is but that's about as specific as it gets.
Later, the discussion revolves around the possibility that, even choosing a Fellowship Maneuver, it might not actually work and how that might impact a boss fight.
There are some interesting possibilities for Fellowship Maneuvers being proposed by the dev team and the future looks good for their most strategic use.

Airships will also be arriving with v1.19 and will allow players quick transport between the three city state of Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah and Gridania.

Final Fantasy XIV: Patch v1.19 Delayed to Sep. 30th
Sep 21st
In the latest Letter from the Producer, Naoki Yoshida has announced that the deployment of the v1.19 patch has been delayed until September 30th to ensure that the update has adequate QA and testing.
While this news is disappointing to many players who, fair or not, expected the patch release this week, Yoshida did reveal a pair of nice perks coming in the patch:
- An additional hundred item slots per character
- An additional fifty item slots per retainer
Lastly, September 30th is the first anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV. Yoshida is promising a "more lively" producer's letter before that date.

Final Fantasy XIV: New Patch to Feature Chocobo Mounts & Airships
Sep 1st
The latest edition of the Final Fantasy XIV Producer's Letter has hit the official site. The letter contains the usual (and impressive) list of changes being implemented in the patch as well as the interesting news that both chocobo mounts and airships will be making their debut as "fast travel" options.
Sorry for the long wait, but they’re finally coming to Eorzea in 1.19, together with chocobo mounts, to help make traveling around the realm more enjoyable. Ride a “horsebird” to get wherever you need to go by land, or book passage on an airship to fly the quickest routes between Ul’dah, Gridania, and Limsa. Airship voyages themselves will take only mere seconds, though there will be sweet little cutscenes accompanying departures and arrivals.

Lord of the Rings Online: Guardian Developer Diary
Aug 30th
In the latest Turbine developer diary, Lord of the Rings Online's Ken "Graalx2" Burd takes a look upcoming changes to the Guardian class with the arrival of the Rise of Isengard expansion at the end of September.
Howdy Guardians! We believe that Guardians are in a good place before Rise of Isengard and will not need any major changes for the expansion. We are currently increasing the additional threat added by Guardian skills and other tanking classes to make sure that they can do their jobs in a Fellowship. While it may be a little more difficult to permanently lock a monster on you, we realize that most Guardians live to tank and we don’t want to take that away.

Final Fantasy XIV: Hints of "My Little Chocobo System"
Aug 15th
The latest Producer's Letter has been published on the Final Fantasy XIV with the tantalizing image you see below. Called the "My Little Chocobo System", the letter teases players with the news that the system, which will be renamed, is still under wraps and will hopefully make its debut in the v1.19 patch.
It might seem that battle-related content dominate the list, but rest assured, folks, we haven’t forgotten about other aspects of the game. For starters, significant improvements are in store for both Disciples of the Hand and Land, such as an overhaul of synthesis recipes, the introduction of the materia crafting system, and a brand new ability to avoid enemy aggro in the field. The growth curve for Disciples of the Hand, in particular, is in need of attention, and we’ll be taking a scalpel to that also.
Items with far-reaching impact have also been added to the list, such as Battle Regimens. It’s become clear that in order to improve Battle Regimens we’ll need to first rebuild the framework for the battle system, which can take place only after the new enemy claiming and linking systems are introduced.
