Guild Wars 2: More Than Quest Givers
Jan 9th
One of the most interesting things about Guild Wars 2 is how diverse and widespread the races coming with the game are shaping up to be. In today's Guild Wars 2 column, we take a look at that broad diversity. Read on!
Guild Wars 2 is shaping up to be a very diverse MMORPG, and by that I mean its races. Races are an important part of MMOs. They offer options to the player and help make the in game world feel whole. We have gone over the races that we will have the opportunity to play as, but many of us have forgotten about the other races. We will be able to explore their villages and cities, accept quests from them, and even meet them on the battlefield. Given all this interaction with them, it makes sense that a lot goes into these races, even if we won’t be playing as them. So let’s go over what makes these races awesome, and not just a random race put in for players to get a few quests from.

Guild Wars 2: The Hall of Monuments
Jan 2nd
While old news to some, the thought of the Hall of Monuments and its place in the Guild Wars 2 universe intrigues us. See why we think the Hall of Monuments will be simply marvelous and then leave us your thoughts in the comments.
Guild Wars 2’s Hall of Monuments should be a very integral part of the game for all players, new or old. Let me paint you a picture… There it stood before him, reaching high into the sky underneath a thin blanket of snow. The wind whispered ancient stories of honor and valor in his ear. The tales were well known, but where they true? The hero began to walk towards the massive building, the stories of his once great ancestor swirling through his mind. The anticipation became too great! His walk soon became a run. The cold numbness he felt seconds ago was gone, and with full speed he raced to the large doors. Through the great shadow the building cast across the snow the hero reached the doors. He pushed with all his might, forcing them to open and reveal their secrets. There before him, he saw the proof he had been searching for. He had More >
Guild Wars 2: 5 Things We’d Like to See for Guilds
Jan 1st
In order to make Guild Wars 2 truly GUILD oriented, we think there are some things that Arena.net must address in order to make that happen. Check out the guild wish list and see if you agree with the things we'd like to see for guilds. Have other thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
My personal issues aside, one of the areas about which we haven't been privy to much information is that of guilds. The eponymous guilds played an important role in the original Guild Wars' social scene and player-versus-player matchups and tournaments, which makes it kind of funny that we haven't heard much about how they're going to work in GW2, given the game's title. We do know a few details that indicate guild membership will be account-wide, meaning that you can join multiple guilds, and you can earn Influence to buy upgrades and in-game boosts for your guilds and their keeps, for those guilds who can capture keeps in World vs. World vs. World PvP. There have also been suggestions along the line of guild achievements and calendars, along with increased connectivity by allowing guild chat participation through a web browser, confirmed in a developer interview with More >
Guild Wars 2: When It’s Done
Dec 26th
Some of the most frustrating words any gamer hears from developers: "It'll be released when it's finished". While those words may make sense in our heads, our hearts don't always follow suit. In today's Guild Wars 2 column, we look at those annoying words with regard to this most-anticipated title. Check it out and then let us know what you think in the comments.
I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a normal work day and I had completed a few illustrations. I was taking a break to check and see what was going on in the world and that's when I saw the news, Guild Wars 2 was announced! I was super excited and so was the rest of the guild, as we discussed it during that same night while playing the first game. It was truly awesome news. As time went on, no news was given on the sequel. We waited and waited, when it seemed that we wouldn't hear any news at all, the gates of hope began to open. For the next couple of years we received news on gameplay mechanics, playable professions and races, but when we ask about a release date we only More >

Guild Wars 2: Year End Development Update
Dec 21st
The Guild Wars 2 team has published the year end development update on the official blog. The post contains information about several topics that will be sure to excite readers throughout this holiday season and into 2012.
Here's what you can learn a LOT more about:
- Eric Flannum talks about the achievement system in GW2 which will come in three flavors: Standard achievements (Centaur Slayer etc.), titles and daily/monthly achievements.
- Jon Peters talks about changes and improvements to the Thief class, most notably in the Steal skill.
- Eric Flannum comes back and discusses Combat Timing and Fine Tuning: "I like to say that GW2 controls like an MMO and has abilities like a MOBA (tools that you can use in diverse ways to adapt to changing situations), but its physical interactions are like an FPS (dodging projectiles, attacking from out of range, etc.)."

Guild Wars 2: Jonathan Sharp Talks Mesmers
Dec 19th
Last week, Arena.Net announced the final Guild Wars 2 profession, the Mesmer. We recently had the opportunity to sit down to chat with Guild Wars 2 Systems Designer Jonathan Sharp about all things Mesmer. Check it out and then leave us a comment or two.
How does the Mesmer work as a solo class? What skills do they use in a 1v1 fight?
As a solo class, the Mesmer will rely heavily on illusions. These illusions will provide damage, distractions, and control conditions. In a one-on-one fight, the Mesmer can use any weapon set! While the staff is more geared towards AOE and condition damage, it’s still strong in a one-on-one encounter!

Guild Wars 2: Mesmer – Master of the Mind
Dec 19th
Last week, Arena.Net announced that the Mesmer was the final profession that will ship with the game on release. Today we take a look at the Mesmer and what this master of mind-control brings to the game. Read on!
Finally, the last profession for Guild Wars 2 has been revealed! In a way I was hoping for something new, rather than just an old profession coming back, but I must say, ArenaNet sure has out done itself yet again with the Mesmer. Some of the professions are those that are returning from the first game, such as the Warrior, Ranger, Elementalist and Necromancer. What was nice is that all these professions got a much needed facelift, even though they did very well for the old age of RPG games. Guild Wars 2 is focusing on a new way for MMOs to be made and played. But today, we are talking about the Mesmer, so let me tell (and show) what I like about the returning veteran.

Guild Wars 2: The Mesmer Revealed
Dec 13th
While it was inadvertently leaked earlier this week that the Mesmer was the final class in Guild Wars 2, no other information has been available UNTIL TODAY! We have worked with ArenaNet and NCsoft to bring our readers a few thoughts about the dazzling Mesmer. Check it out and then let us know what you think!
It's finally happened! The last player profession has been revealed by Arena.Net and it brings back one of the iconic and venerable classes from Guild Wars 1, The MESMER! While maybe ANet's hand was tipped a couple of days early, the revelation about the Mesmer class making a comeback in Guild Wars 2 is a welcome, if not surprising, bit of news.
So what about the Mesmer? For those who may not have played Guild Wars 1, the Mesmer was originally designed as a support character, a class filled with tricks and debuffs. Sadly, the Mesmer was often overlooked in party play due to a lack of real offensive power. But today's Mesmer ain't your mama's Mesmer and Arena.Net has gone a long way to give more firepower to the class, making it a must-have party member.
