During the week of January 30, 2012, Vanguard Saga of Heroes will be upgrading to LaunchPad 4! LaunchPad 4 offers many advantages over previous versions of our LaunchPad software, in that it handles data quicker, more efficiently, and takes less time to update your game.
So what do you need to do to get LaunchPad 4, you ask? It’s very simple. Just continue to use your current launcher for Vanguard Saga of Heroes as normal, and when Vanguard Saga of Heroes upgrades it will be automatically downloaded to your computer and installed.
We know there are bound to be a few questions about this upgrade, so we’ve created this handy FAQ. If you don’t see your question answered, please feel free to ask.
- Why are you upgrading to LaunchPad 4?
There are two reasons for our upgrade to LaunchPad 4. This way we’ll have one version across all our games and this launcher comes with a myriad of technical improvements. This should lead to better stability, quicker changes, faster patching, and fewer errors.

City of Heroes: Death of the Statesman Interview

Last week, City of Heroes was rocked with the death of one of Freedom Forces' most iconic members, the Statesman. We had the opportunity to chat with Paragon Studios Lead Designer Matt Miller about this momentous event and its repercussions. Check it out and then let us know what you think in the comments.
The Statesman has been synonymous with City of Heroes for the life of the game. What is it like to end such an iconic character in the CoH Universe?
For me it was a really tough thing to do. I mean, City of Heroes has really revolved around this character since the very beginning and killing him off was going to be a huge deal. We knew with Freedom we had a chance to have a new starting point for players, and one of the things we wanted to do was make them the star of their own game, and not have the NPCs overshadow them. Once we had this mindset, killing off Statesman just seemed like a good logical place to go with the story. Of course, his story doesn’t just “end.” He is too ingrained in the game-lore.
