Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: It’s a Gem of a Game

In our continuing effort to look at games that are considered to be 'aging' yet are still healthy and viable, MMORPG.com's Som Pourfarzaneh takes another look at Vanguard in our re-review. Som opines that Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is a 'gem of a game that could use a little developer love'. Check out Som's re-review and then let us know your thoughts in the comments.
We’re happy to report that most of the performance issues have been fixed, and a ton of content has been added since launch. In addition, while the community remains small and SOE hasn’t done much with the game for the past year and a half or so, the player population seems to be slowly growing and the developers have begun a new content and balancing push. We can’t say exactly how much support the game will be getting in the coming months, and will be basing our re-review on the game as it currently exists, but we can say that Vanguard is very much well-worth checking out and has the potential to become even better if SOE can continue improving on its strengths.

City of Heroes: VIP Head Start on Freedom Begins Tuesday

Paragon Studios and the City of Heroes team have announced that current subscribers will be able to log in and try out the City of Heroes: Freedom iteration of the game beginning Tuesday, September 13th.
Players will be able to try the Paragon Market and the new cooperative zone, First Ward. In addition, players will be able to participate in costume contests, play in a pair of trials (Death from Below and Underground Incarnate) with the dev team, play in invasions across all servers, and purchase special bundles and promotions that will only be available during this VIP event.
Lapsed subscribers will also have an opportunity to reactivate their accounts and re-subscribe to take advantage of the VIP head start.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: Bug Bash Extravaganza

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the "Bug Bash" patch for Vanguard has been successfully deployed. The patch contains a number of important bug fixes for items, classes and adventuring and was released on August 24th.
Adventuring
- Adventurers should once again be able to visit Prince Julian.
Items
- The Vampire Femur should once again have the correct set of attachment slots.
- Sacred Solvent has had its price corrected.
- The drop rate of rare items from the Bridge of Destiny such as Rage Filled Cloak have been increased.
- The Arachnidon Claws should no longer miss more than other claws.
