Age of Conan: Unchained: January Development Letter Arrives
Jan 30th
The latest edition of the Age of Conan: Unchained Development Update has arrived on the official site. The letter begins with a look back at the momentous year AoC had in 2011, particularly with regard to going "Unchained" or F2P/hybrid back in the summer. From there, the post springboards into 2012.
The "roadmap to 2012" will begin with new tier four raids with much of the balance of the first half of 2012 focusing on a "systems driven focus". In particular, the team is hard at work on the trade skill system and hoping to deploy it by summer. The overhauled system is, according to the letter, "trying to capture the feeling of the more complex systems that you saw in the first generation of MMOs rather than the 'point and click' nature of modern crafting options."
In addition to crafting changes, the team is also putting classes under the microscope and will be working to make some significant changes to classes and abilities. The team will also be laying the artistic groundwork for the next adventure pack.

Age of Conan: Unchained: The Year Ahead Interview
Jan 17th
Last week, we featured an interview about the Age of Conan: Unchained House of Crom update. This week, we sit down with Craig Morrison again to talk about Age of Conan: Unchained and the dev team's plans for 2012. Check it out and then leave us a comment or two.
Tell us how 2011 was for Conan? What changes are you happy with?
I am very proud of what the team accomplished in 2011. It was an amazingly busy year for the game. Between the business model conversion with the new Unchained version, the Savage Coast of Turan adventure pack, and the fantastic content updates we managed with the Refuge of the Apostate, the Pai Kang Districts, and the new scaling daily instances in The Forgotten City and The Breach, we really added a massive amount of new content in 2011. The team worked amazingly hard to achieve all of that, it really was a good year for the game.

More >Age of Conan: Unchained: House of Crom Interview
Jan 12th
Age of Conan: Unchained players received a high-level treat with the recent release of the House of Crom update. We had the opportunity to talk with Game Director Craig Morrison about House of Crom. Check out our exclusive interview and then let us know what you think in the comments.
MMORPG: It’s most a max-level update, right? Is there anything in the new update for the new to mid-level players to look forward to? If not, are there any plans to go back and revisit some older areas?
Well, we focused a lot on that through 2011, so it was time for the max level players to get a good chunky update again. With areas like Ardashir, with its scaling instance, and areas like The Breach and the Forgotten City, we added quite a bit to the mid-game in 2011, so this time out it is the turn of the maximum level players to feel the proverbial content love!

Age of Conan: Unchained: The Road to v4.0
Nov 30th
The latest development update for Age of Conan: Unchained has been published on the official site. In it, the team lays out plans for patches and updates from v3.1 through the release of the next adventure pack and v4.0.
- v3.1 is mainly focused on the Dreamworld engine and behind the scenes technology issues. It has been delayed somewhat to allow the team to "iron out any kinks" they've encountered. It is expected to deploy soon.
- v3.2 will include the House of Crom dungeon, new instances and world bosses, new social areas and more. The Jade Citadel, a new Tier 4 raid, will also make its appearance in v3.2.
- v3.3 This update will conclude the Tier Four raid experience, with the final Khitai raid instance, and the last two new encounters in the Tier.
- v3.4 will again focus mainly on the technical side of Age of Conan: Unchained.
- v4.0 will be the next adventure pack that Funcom is not quite ready to reveal just yet. The target date for the deployment of v4.0 is sometime in Q2 2012.

Age of Conan: Unchained: House of Crom Revealed
Oct 31st
The Age of Conan Unchained blog has been updated with the October Monthly Update. This time, the team lays out a ton of information about the House of Crom dungeon that is scheduled to go live by the end of 2011.
The post contains an interview with Writer Joshua Alan Doetsch and Senior Quest Designer Karl Andre Bertheussen. Basically, according to devs, the House of Crom is a series of ancient ruins originally built by Atlanteans. The ruins have remained largely hidden for over a thousand years until unearthed by Vanir excavators.
House of Crom will include two extensive dungeons. According to devs, one dungeon is a social dungeon that can support multiple teams inside. The other is a six-player dungeon.
