The fine folks at Funcom have decided to share with us the exclusive details on their brand new dungeon: Fort Ardashir. As a part of the forthcoming Savage Coast of Turan Adventure Pack, the new instance focuses on the military honcho General Arman and his henchmen as the baddies, players have a lot to be excited about in this new instance for the newly F2P game.

For this instance the team wanted to continue the great work that had seen the release of the new Paikang district team instances earlier in the year. With a focus on interesting boss encounters set in a great location. The fort itself is surprisingly varied and large without getting tiresome to navigate. As they fight their way into the fort, they will come upon the massive courtyard where players find the first boss encounter, Commander Kamangir, mounted on his formidable war Rhino. Complimented by his elite archers on the walls above, players will face a dual threat, trying to avoid his lethal charges, as well as the dangers of the arrows raining upon them from above.

According to news from the Age of Conan development team, both server populations and Funcom revenues are way up after last month's launch of Age of Conan Unchained, the free-to-play version of the game. From information provided by Funcom, over 300,000 new players have signed up and played Age of Conan Unchained.

To celebrate the revival of Conan the Barbarian on the silver screen, the ‘Age of Conan: Unchained’ development team are hard at work creating a unique, movie tie-in Adventure Pack titled ‘Savage Coast of Turan’. The adventure pack will introduce all new world areas, as well as monsters, characters and player equipment that audiences can experience in the movie as it hits theatres on August 18th.

Age of Conan servers are shut at the moment at Funcom readies the new "unrated and Unchained" version of the game. Unchained, for those not in the know, is the free to play version of Age of Conan. The official website is also down in preparation for the arrival of Unchained.

Will there be a player shop to buy various items that allow you to advance in the game?

Yes, we have already been selling those types of convenience and progression benefits for some time through the game’s account pages, so this just places those kinds of items into a store setting similar to that you would find in other free to play games. This is already something we have integrated in the Korean version of the game, and our backend for that type of service is already well established and tested as it currently runs the store in Anarchy Online.

However that doesn’t help me now. I’m not at the level cap yet but still need something to do so I decided to try out the Destiny Quests. This starts off in Tortage and carries on through the rest of the game. You pick up the quests at levels 30, 50, 60 and 80. It’s a decent quest-line, however I was certain I wouldn’t have time to see it through to the end so I just gave myself a little sampler. The quest revolves around the Phoenix Medallion which you get during the final stages of the Tortage. After liberating that port and being thrown out into the world you can continue the quest once you hit one of the above levels. There are pieces of the medallion missing and by retrieving them you can regain some of your memories and eventually at level 80 you can meet the big man himself, Conan.
