Salem: An Exclusive Salem Interview
Jan 17th
Salem has a lot of appeal for people as a game that brings back "the good old days" of MMOs with features like permadeath and a real focus on crafting. We had the opportunity to chat with Creative Director Björn Johannessen about Salem. Keep reading and let us know what you think in the comments.
MMORPG: Tell us a little bit more about Salem! How did you come up with the premise? Why Salem?
JOHANNESSEN: When my code gnome Fredrik Tolf and I first were invited to pitch a game idea to the people at Paradox I had three ideas that I presented to Fredrik. I had one idea about making a game in a gothic, occult wild west setting — lots of ghost dancing and stuff like that — one idea to make an MMORPG based on the Baron von Münschausen stories, and one set in gothic Colonial America with headless horsemen and shadows over Innsmouth. We needed some sort of frontier to make the game, and the last idea just ended up being the one we found most inspiring when we discussed it before pitching the idea to Paradox. No one had done it before and it seemed like we could More >
Firefall: League for Gamers Formed
Jan 17th
Red 5 Studios has pledged $50,000 in seed money to form a new organization to advocate for developers' and gamers' rights. Called "League for Gamers", the organization is billed as an alternative to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) which recently has taken a lot of heat for its support of the controversial SOPA legislation in the United States.
While SOPA is largely dead in the US House of Representatives, a similar bill is working its way through the US Senate.
“The VGVN and the ESA claim to represent gamers and developers, but they have turned their backs on them by supporting and funding legislation such as SOPA and PIPA,” said Mark Kern. “Developers such as Red 5 Studios and other game makers no longer have an organization to represent their true position on this kind of destructive legislation. LFG’s first action will be to petition the ESA to withdraw their support from PIPA, which still looms large in the Senate.”

A new champion has arrives to League of Legends, Sejuani
Jan 16th
League of legends, has presented a new champion, Sejuani, the Winters Wrath. This Champion represents a minor revolution amongst her fellow champions of League of Legends as she will be the first ever warrior mounted on a faithful steed, a terrifying giant boar.
Not bad for a primary tank in order to move around with maximum force and maximum impact.
Habilidades:
Frost (Passive) – Sejuani’s basic attacks apply Frost, reducing enemy Movement Speed by 10% for 3 seconds. Arctic Assault – Sejuani charges forward to deal magic damage and apply Frost to enemies. Sejuani stops upon colliding with an enemy champion. Northern Winds – Sejuani summons an arctic storm around her which deals magic damage to nearby enemies every second. Damage is increased against enemies affected by Frost or Permafrost. Permafrost - Sejuani converts Frost on nearby enemies to Permafrost, dealing magic damage and increasing the Movement Speed reduction dramatically. Glacial Prison (Ultimate) – Sejuani throws her weapon, stunning the first enemy champion hit. Nearby enemies are stunned for a shorter duration. All targets take magic damage and are affected by Frost.
