SOE Maintenance for Thursday December 9th – Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Thursday December 9th at 1 am PST, all Vanguard servers will be down for maintenance. Character transfers will also be done at this time. We expect this maintenance to last until 12:15 pm or approximately eleven hours. During this maintenance period game servers will not be accessible. Because of this down time the servers will not have there weekly downtime on Wednesday morning. We apologize for this interruption and will resume the affected services as soon as the maintenance is completed.</p
The Festival of Gloriann! – December 2, 2010 – Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

The towns and cities within the world of Telon will be cheerfully preparing for the Festival of Gloriann! Once a year during the wintery months, the tale of Atnas Claws and his spirit of giving imbues the cities with an aura of goodness. Towering trees adorned with lights can be seen glittering within the cities of Telon.
Be on the look out for an abundance of gifts and goodies! Those who have been very nice this year may find their treats granting them an extra little something special!
Take a tour over the rooftops of Telon while riding on Randolph, the flying reindeer.
Snowmen are fun to play with…aren’t they?
So be sure to log in, gather your gifts and start spreading the spirit of Gloriann throughout Telon!

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: The Shadow of Things to Come?

It is MMORPG.com writer Phil James's fondest hope that Vanguard will soon go free to play. As he states, the precedent has been set by SOE with Everquest 2 Extended. But would a F2P iteration of Vanguard come too late to save it or is Matrix Online the shadow of things to come? Check out Phil's thoughts then weigh in with your own.
But does it even need saving? I don’t work for Sony Online Entertainment and I’m not privy to any meetings or intel regarding Vanguard, but I’d probably go with yes. Even the briefest of glances will give you an idea of the state of the game. Vanguard launched in 2007 with 14 servers, but failed to hold on to much of its player base and is now down to two servers, which isn’t a good sign. Few games can be counted as success stories with so few realms to choose from (Eve fans don’t hate me, your game is a notable exception).

The day of giving thanks is fast approaching and the SOE Community team invites you to join us in our web cast celebration! Come watch the show and join in the live chat to tell us what you are thankful for this year!
Join us on November 19, 2010, starting at 2:00 pm PST, for our Web Cast celebration. (PST is -8 GMT: 10:00pm MST, 3:00pm CST, 5:00pm EST, 9:00pm for GMT, 11:00pm CET.
Festivities will include the following:
- SOE employees sharing what they are thankful for
- SOE game trailers
- Special visits from SOE employees
- We may even feature some fan made videos
You can just visit the channel and watch or you can log-in and chat with the Community Team and other visitors at the same time.
