Star Wars: The Old Republic: Republic Companions Preview
Nov 10th
As the next Star Wars: The Old Republic beta weekend looms close, MMORPG.com's Bill Murphy, Garrett Fuller, Mike Bitton, and Chris Higgin had an opportunity to chat with one another about their experiences with companions during their game time recently. They've got a few thoughts to share with you about companions so keep reading! What are you most looking forward to companions-wise in SWTOR? Let us know in the comments!
Rest assured, those who are worried, that while companions are a main facet of the game, it’s not hard at all to manage them, and it doesn’t make the game suddenly “single-player” because the companions won’t fulfill the need of having more people on harder missions. What they do is add to the story experience the same way characters add to the story of Mass Effect or KotOR. And while it is a little silly to see dozens of Coros Riggses or Aric Jorgans running around, there is some customization to help make them look somewhat different from player to player. Still, it’s a significant thing to mention: everyone has companions, in the beginning you’ll all have the same ones, and it’s a bit weird to see people running around with More >

MMORPG.com Community Manager Michael Bitton has some thoughts on the latest Old Republic news, including new details coming out of the latest Fansite Summit. Check out what he has to say and leave your comments below!
This week, members of the Star Wars: The Old Republic fansite community were invited out to BioWare Austin for the second Fansite Summit event, and we’ve already learned some interesting things as information has trickled out. One of the most eye-opening possible revelations coming out of the event comes from SWTOR-RP’s report on their Q&A with BioWare’s James Ohlen. During the Q&A, it appears James confirmed that coveted appearance tab would now be a reality. According to SWTOR-RP, James stated that the appearance tab is “high” on the developers’ radar and will be coming to The Old Republic “soon.”

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Five Days of Early Access
Nov 4th
An intrepid poster on the official Star Wars: The Old Republic forum has noticed that pre-order customers will be given a maximum of five days early access to one of the year's most anticipated games.
At this point, we here at MMORPG.com don't know if this is a change in the fine print on the pre-orders page or if it's something that has been there all along that we simply missed. Either way, five days is a lot of leveling!
Star Wars: The Old Republic: SWTOR Launch Day
Nov 3rd
In her latest Player Perspectives column, MMORPG.com's Isabelle Parsley admits that, despite earlier ambivalence about the game, she's actually looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic. Find out what changed her mind and what she hopes to discover on SWTOR Launch Day. Read on!
Now, however, I’m going to have to eat a heaping helping of humble pie. I said a few months ago that I was kind of ambivalent about SWTOR and that I wasn’t sure I wanted to pick it up at launch. Things change, of course, and I should have remembered something I’ve known for a long time when it comes to MMOs: never say never. I’ve heard some pretty good things from friends in the beta, who did their best to kill me after telling me (before the NDA was lifted, anyway). I always intended to pick up the game at some point, just not necessarily on the first day. But now, without a new game lined up and with the lure of the new and shiny, I suspect I’ll be joining the hordes on opening day.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Flashpoints Beta Preview
Nov 3rd
As part of our continuing beta coverage, MMORPG.com Community Manager Mike Bitton has the inside scoop on Star Wars: The Old Republic's flashpoints. The article contains a few minor spoilers to reader beware! Check out Mike's preview of the SWTOR flashpoints and then leave us a comment or two.
The starter Flashpoints, The Esseles (Republic) and the Black Talon (Imperial) strongly focus on story in the way BioWare has described, but the developer has added new Flashpoints to the game that are more akin to your typical dungeon run. These additional Flashpoints were mentioned during the main Star Wars: The Old Republic panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con as a way of giving a choice to players who are more interested in a straightforward experience focused on gameplay or puzzles. The additional Flashpoints, story focused and otherwise (a total of 15!), will allow players to basically level up via Flashpoints at any juncture in the game if they so choose. Everyone loves variety, right?

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Spoilers Suck
Nov 1st
In his latest column devoted to Star Wars: The Old Republic, MMORPG.com Community Manager Mike Bitton is thinking ahead to how he will insulate himself from the spoilers that so many are willing to divulge in chat, on Ventilo and online forums. See how he plans to keep the storyline secret from himself and then leave us a couple comments when you're through.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about spoilers. A lot. I have to say I’ve honestly become a bit paranoid about spoilers in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and for good reason. With storyline being part and parcel of the game experience and with eight storylines to play through and hundreds of hours of content spread between them, there are bound to be spoilers all over the place. Many times they’ll be completely unintentional. Will it even be possible to maintain the mystery of the various storylines in the live game?
I’m not too sure.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Making the Switch?
Oct 26th
MMORPG.com Community Manager Michael Bitton has noticed many Star Wars: The Old Republic fans are suddenly interested in upgrading to the Collector's Edition of the game. He has but one question for these folks, "Why?"
Lately, I’ve noticed an odd phenomenon on the Star Wars: The Old Republic boards. There are quite a few people much more interested in the Collector’s Edition of the game now, and the boards are littered with threads asking about switching up from the Digital Deluxe Edition to the Collector’s or from Standard to the Collector’s.
Why?
