Lineage 2: F2P and Goddess of Destruction Q&A

To many folks' great delight, Lineage II developers recently announced that the game would be adopting a free-to-play revenue model. MMORPG.com Managing Editor Bill Murphy caught up with Associate Producer Nico Coutant and Executive VP of Publishing Matt Turetzky to talk about the announcement and the upcoming Goddess of Destruction expansion. MMORPG: One of many things a F2P conversion does for a game is bring in a lot of new players. What sorts of improvements have you made to handle new players, and more so… to make sure they’re not feeling too far behind in a game that’s been around for a while?
NCW: The new player experience and the first 76 levels have been revamped to make the game a lot more accessible and to allow new players to close the gap with veteran players faster.
Additionally when we launch Goddess of Destruction we will have new fresh servers that players can choose to start on if they wish.

Lineage 2: Happy Halloween Events Go Live

Lineage II players will want to check in between now and October 31st to experience the thrills and chills of the season Lineage II style.
Players will be gifted several Halloween-themed items to put them in the mood and the character on each server to reach the highest level of all will be gifted an awesome gift pack.

Lineage 2: October Bonanza Yields Big Rewards

The Lineage II team has announced the arrival of the October Bonanza packed with Subscription Rewards, Thank You Letters, and Commendations.
All of the rewards being handed out to players contain some nifty in-game swag such as potion supply packs, a dynasty weapon box, helpful buffs and more.

Lineage 2: New Hybrid Revenue Model Coming

NC Soft West has announced that Lineage II will adopt a hybrid revenue model. While few details are known, the Lineage II team said that the new hybrid system will "feature an order of magnitude greater than those of a conventional subscription model, and creates a new way to play."
NC Soft has also partnered with Innova to bring the Lineage II Free to Play service to the EU and Russia.

Lineage 2: New Details for Goddess of Destruction

In the latest Lineage II "Sace Says" column, new information has been revealed about the upcoming Goddess of Destruction expansion.
The blog details several features that will be included in Goddess. Among them:
- Auction House: The auction house will include categories, sorting options, and a word search function to help players find items easily. Auction House NPCs will be available in all major quest hubs.
- Awakening Process: More details have been revealed about the Awakening Process that players will go through on reaching level 85.
- Ye Sagira: "Each of the other parts of Ye Sagira is somewhere underground and out of sight–with the exception of the Reliquary–but they can all be accessed by speaking to NPCs in the Exploration Zones. One of the best parts of Ye Sagira is the Observation area."
Sace also hints that there will be "big news" coming for players next month.

Lineage 2: Treasure Hunt Event Arrives

From today through October 5th, Lineage II players will have the opportunity to participate in the Treasure Hunt event that devs indicate will yield bounteous rewards.
Players are told to gather the pieces of the treasure sack by killing monsters and are then to head to Treasure Isle. There they can turn themselves into treasure hunters to seek chests filled with all sorts of bounty.

Lineage 2: New Armors Detailed

In the latest Sace Says column on the Lineage II website, a lot of new information is revealed about new armor sets coming with the Goddess of Destruction update.
When players awaken at level 85, they will be 'gifted' the Immortal Set. At level 90, it's the Twilight Set. At level 95, the Seraph set is revealed and is considered by Sace to be the most diversified armor set in the game. Finally, at level 99, players start seeing the Seraph set. Every race and gender, according to Sace, has its own unique look for each armor set as well.

Lineage 2: New Classes, Zone & Raid Boss Detailed

A new Lineage II blog has cropped up with information about two new classes, a new zone and a new raid boss that will be featured in the Goddess of Destruction update scheduled to be rleased later this fall. The Othell Rogue and Aeore Healer are detailed and fans can also learn about the Prison of Darkness zone and Spezion, the raid boss who lives within.
Rogue-class players will find a lot of fun new abilities in the Othell Rogue that will let you hone in your gaming skills by bringing strategy and finesse into your playstyle. Generally, rogue-types characters should be sneaky, agile and deadly, and move around stealthily while swiping coin purses and attacking with daggers when the enemy's guard is down. Currently in Lineage II, rogue classes have daggers and stealth, but otherwise they simply hack and slash and hope that the enemy will die before they do. Yes, rogue classes die a lot. Well, Othell Rogues will have a longer life thanks to increased evasion stats and many skills that combine evasion with combat attacks, self buffs, enemy debuffs, or enemy target cancellation.
