Star Wars: The Old Republic: Verdict on the Fourth Pillar
Mar 28th
Did BioWare's gamble on story really make all the difference with Star Wars: The Old Republic? Was it really what MMOs were missing? We share our thoughts in this week's SWTOR column!
When BioWare announced Star Wars: The Old Republic, they asserted that MMOs have been lacking in one particular area, what they referred to as the “fourth pillar” of story. BioWare knew a thing or about crafting great stories and they endeavored to rectify this ‘problem’ by creating a fully voiced MMO with individual storylines for each class. For whatever reason, many MMO diehards either rejected this notion outright or viewed it with a healthy dose of skepticism, but whatever your feelings were, the fact of the matter is this was one fairly interesting experiment to observe.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Endgame Fashion Shows
Mar 19th
Do you often find yourself perplexed by the gaudy armor designs found at the endgame of most MMOs? We do! In this week's Star Wars: The Old Republic column, we discuss the overall issue and how it plagues even SW:TOR.
I’ve been mulling over writing this article for a little while now, but Update 1.2: Legacy has pretty much forced my hand. I’ve long been perplexed by the art direction of endgame armor in MMOs; it just frankly looks ridiculous. You can probably take a random sample of MMOs released in the last couple of years and most of them tend to play out the same way. While leveling up, you’ll either find yourself wearing mundane armor or armor that is at least visually appealing, but not mind-blowingly awesome. That’s because they save the good stuff for the endgame, right? Or do they?

Now here we are again. Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Competitive PVP Interview
Mar 13th
Hillary “Pokket” Nicole had the chance to sit down with Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Lead Endgame Designer Gabe Amantangelo during the Guild Summit last week. The two talked all things warfront from ranked matches to new maps and how PVP fits into lore. A must-see for SWTOR’s PVP fans.
MMORPG.com: I heard you'd be able to queue as a full premade, is that for ranked and normal? Or just ranked?
Gabe Amantangelo: That is just for ranked. Players will be able to queue as a full group of eight for Ranked Warzones only.
Normal will still function as it does right now where you can queue as a group of up to four players. Normal Warzone matchmaking will continue to operate in the same way it does on live right now where it tries to match a group of four against another group of four and fills in the rest with solos. It only goes for multiple groups on each team after extended periods of time when a match cannot be made.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Flashpoint – The Lost Island Hands On
Mar 12th
During last week's Star Wars: The Old Republic Guild Summit, our team was on hand to check out the new Lost Island Flashpoint just in time for its arrival on the public test server today. We've got the inside scoop about what you'll be facing along the way. Read on!
Our press play session began bright and early in the Bioware offices with a good long look at the new Lost Island Flashpoint that will arrive in the SWTOR public test server on March 13th. We were treated to well-equipped level 50 characters and split into teams of four. In fact, the dev team told us that we were actually over-equipped for the Flashpoint though I have to say that it sure didn’t feel that way after about two hours of dying to the MINI bosses throughout Lost Island! As if dying repeatedly wasn’t enough, our pain was compounded by the fact that we were playing on story mode, not even nightmare.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Guild Summit Impressions
Mar 11th
Last week, our boots were on the ground at the first Star Wars: The Old Republic Guild Summit. We've got thoughts to share about the summit itself and the overall tone of the event in this exclusive report. Keep reading and then leave us your thoughts in the comments!
Going into the Guild Summit I wasn't really sure what to expect. I've been to a lot of gaming conventions before, including Blizzcon, so I guess I expected something similar… kind of. Quite simply, I thought it basically was going to be Bioware sharing with us, the guildmasters, why we need to stay in the game with our guilds.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Riccitiello Confirms 1.7 Million Subscribers
Mar 8th
Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello has confirmed that Star Wars: The Old Republic is sporting 1.7 million subscribers and indicated that the "vast majority" of the subscribers have passed beyond the thirty days of game time that was included in the purchase price.
A stock analyst from Cowen & Company had this to say about the short term future of SWTOR:
"We continue to feel comfortable with our Star Wars estimates which are an important part of our street-high FY13 non-GAAP EPS estimate of $1.36. We estimate 2MM paying subs by the end of June 2012 (and then sustained for the remainder of the year). We also note that the company plans to launch Star Wars in the Asia-Pacific region later this month," Creutz said in a statement.
