Warhammer Online: Things to do in the Holiday Break
Dec 20th
The holiday break is closing in and 2011 is coming to an end. There are a few more things to enjoy before the end of the year:
- Tomorrow, December 21, we’ll add a holiday bonus for xp and rp that will run additionally to the live event ‘Keg’s End’.
- We’ll post a dev discussion with the bulk of the Relic/Fortress information from the patch notes in a digest format for you guys to give some feedback over our break so we can respond to it immediately when we get back.
- We’ll be pushing up our scenario changes (minus Grovod Caverns) for the next patch early, as in tomorrow, too! That means you’ll get fresh new scenarios as well as the much anticipated 6v6 Gates of Ekrund and Caledor Woods.
We wish you a pleasant holiday break and a fresh start into 2012 when we’ll be ready to test version 1.4.5 and the relic system with you.
See you on the battlefields.

Warhammer Online: Q and A with James Casey
Nov 28th
Shortly after the interview with WAR Stratics published last week, James Casey also answered several questions for Werit’s Blog.
Q: In the last Q&A, it was mentioned that Guilds and Alliances may be able to claim Fortresses. High level, how will this work and what’s in it for the claimer?
A: Correct, similar to the old system, an alliance can claim a fortress and bring more defense to bear for their realm. Other guilds in the alliance can also spot fortify the fortress with a new mechanic being introduced.
In addition to adding physical defenses to the Fortress, claiming these spots will reward Alliance members with various buffs to help them in their defense of the Fortress. These buffs are localized to the Fortress area where they are gained, and are not the same as any buffs or bonuses gained by controlling relics.

WAR Stratics had the chance to conduct an interview with James Casey and Graham Bennet about the Warhammer Online franchise. While some of the questions are linked to Wrath of Heroes, several others address the plans for WAR.
“Q: Just an estimate, but when do you hope to have Forts on the PTS for players to look at them and give them some good testing?A: If all goes well internally, we hope to have it on PTS in December to get peoples first reactions and let them get a chance to make the epic runs across Tier 4!”

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Come for PvP, Stay for WAAAGH!
Oct 23rd
Warhammer Online is one of the small handful of games that continues to make steady progress throughout the years of its life despite a less than stellar launch. MMORPG.com's Som Pourfarzaneh gives a nod to that fact and has our latest re-review of WAR. Check out what Som discovered about WAR and then let us know what you think in the comments.
As we mentioned in our Review and Re-Review, WAR didn’t have the best launch and experienced a mass exodus of players that resulted in several server merges, a streamlining of starter areas, and the general feeling that very few people are playing the game outside of the free trial area. Mythic has done excellently in responding to player feedback about the structure of the game’s World PvP, known as Open Realm vs. Realm (ORvR), added a bunch of new content, and made the Tier 1 starting area an endless free trial, doing a pretty bang-up job in trying to keep the existing population happy and bring in new players.

WAR's PvP is still some of the best.

Thoughts turn now to the long, bleak nights of the coming winter, and the foreboding darkness that accompanies the death of another year. Malevolent creatures borne out of the fabric of Chaos itself descend upon the world like daemon locusts, intent upon devouring the souls of every living creature they encounter. The Daemon Moon shines its baleful light down upon the world. The screams of countless tortured victims mingle with the howls of their daemonic tormentors. Who will stand against the hordes of Chaos?
The Daemonball Rally Public Quest
In the war-torn lands of the Old World, festering like a boil, rests a terrible artifact of the Daemon Moon’s first rising in long-ago times. Built of the very stuff of chaos and the essence of nightmares, the Daemon More >
