Around Azeroth: I’m such a bore, I’m such a bore, I don’t do anything anymore
Dec 10th
No wonder Deathwing has been such a crank lately! The other aspects have trapped him in a pool of quicksand, and a bunch of raiders are trying to stomp on his left hand. All the black dragon wants to do is soak in his giant hot tub and practice playing his invisible piano — but no, you and that silly orc had to interrupt him. Now the world must burn! (Thanks to Loronar of Dark Days on Eredar [US-A] for this eagle’s eye picture of the Madness of Deathwing encounter!)

Dec 10th
Today is the final day of the Darkmoon Faire for the month of December. It’s also the end of our first month with the totally revamped Faire we received in patch 4.3. The question that most immediately springs to mind for me this morning is … what did you think? Did you enjoy the new Faire?
Personally, I loved it. When my characters weren’t in one of the new dungeons or in Dragon Soul via the Raid Finder, I was on Darkmoon Island playing games or fishing — yeah, I’m one of those people, I like fishing. My primary issues with the Faire are temporary ones. It simply wasn’t realistic to get all of the Darkmoon Artifacts from the Adventurer’s Guide over the course of one week unless you dumped a hefty amount of gold on the auction house. However, since you can get those items even while the Faire isn’t active as long as you have the Guide with you, that won’t be a problem going forward.
I’d also like to see more tickets coming from the actual games of the Faire, but I understand why Blizzard might not like that. Too much emphasis on the daily games and you start retreading More >

Raid Rx: How to heal Yor’sahj and Hagara
Dec 9th
Every week, Raid Rx will help you quarterback your healers to victory! Your host is Matt Low, the grand poohbah of World of Matticus and a founder of Plus Heal, a discussion community for healers of all experience levels and interests. Catch his weekly podcast on healing, raiding and leading, the Matticast.
Ready for a trip back into the Eye of Eternity? Oh, don’t worry, you’ll get your chance to reminisce. This week, we’re going to look at the next two bosses within the Dragon Soul raid instance. Some movement will be required — hope you have your running shoes equipped. Last thing you want happen is to complain to your raid leader that your feet are in pain.
Yor’sahj is one of the bosses that some raid groups may have some difficulty with. I know that green and red slimes up can be the hardest combination to deal with. We’ll go over how to handle those. … Could always ask Greatfather Winter for a hand! I’m sure he’d be happy to help with some brand new raid loot.

WRUP: And they named him Baradin Fox Van Allen
Dec 9th
Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, “What are you playing this week?” — otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we’re up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you’re playing, too!
Last month, I used WRUP to wish our very own Mat McCurley a happy birthday. Today, I’m using it to wish myself a happy birthday. I turn 24 on Sunday. Or maybe I turn 32. Or 27. I don’t know … I’m bad at math. I digress. The point is that many years ago, a child was born in the wilds of New Jersey, a child with the most awesome name on the planet: Fox Van Allen.
All of a sudden, though, I have some competition for my throne. It seems that last month, two Skyrim-loving parents named their child Dovahkiin. (The name translates to Dragonborn in a special fake dragon language that programmer nerds made up.) That said, this week’s WRUP asks: If you had to name your baby after a character in World of Warcraft, what would you name him or her?

Battle.net Balance funds World of Warcraft game time
Dec 9th
We already knew that real money would play a role in Diablo III, but we didn’t have a great deal of official word. Now, Blizzard has released a FAQ about the Battle.net Balance providing a much deeper look at the upcoming system.
Essentially, you have a Battle.net Balance made up of points. Adding value to your Battle.net Balance is executed through charging up. You can charge up your Battle.net Balance using debit or credit cards, or sales from Diablo III auctions. Be aware, though, that you can’t convert Battle.net Balance back into cash; once you put money there, it stays there. (There is an exception in some regions using PayPal, but details are scarce on that right now.)
Some of the Battle.net details are a little fuzzy right now because Blizzard is forced to deal with a lot of regional-specific laws. For example, in some regions, it’ll have to empty value from a Battle.net Balance that hasn’t been accessed in three years. Which regions? We don’t know yet.
The most exciting bit of this news, however, is that you’ll be able to purchase World of Warcraft prepaid game time using your Battle.net Balance. So if you’re pretty good at the Diablo III Auction House, you might More >
The Light and How to Swing It: The new tanking gear of patch 4.3
Dec 9th
Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Light and How to Swing It for holy, protection and retribution paladins. Protection specialist Matt Walsh spends most of his time receiving concussions for the benefit of 24 other people, obsessing over his hair (a blood elf racial!), and maintaining the tankadin-focused blog Righteous Defense.
Last week, we talked about what you needed to know to prepare for the dawning of the Hour of Twilight. Now let’s talk about what shiny new purples you can expect to rip from the still-warm carcasses that will lie in your wake as your cut a swath through the new content.
Our itemization goals haven’t changed since 4.2. Mastery is still king, and threat stats are still to be avoided. In the list below, I didn’t list the gear in any particular order, so don’t expect the top choice to be the best. Indeed, the best piece will depend on how much mastery you have and thus how close you are to block cap.

WoW Insider’s guide to Warlord Zon’ozz
Dec 9th
Ready Check helps you prepare yourself and your raid for the bosses that simply require killing. Check back with Ready Check each week for the latest pointers on killing adds, not standing in fire, and hoping for loot that won’t drop. Questions, comments, or something you would like to see? Email me at tyler@wowinsider or message me on Twitter @murmursofadruid.
Unlike the other encounters in Dragon Soul, Warlord Zon’ozz only requires a single tank. For cooldown purposes, it is possible to bring in a second tank; however, there isn’t too much of a need to do so. Per usual, you will want to have around five to six healers. Switch your off tank for an additional healer if you feel that would help. Your DPS should be a solid mix of both ranged and melee; there does need to be a solid balance of both. Healers should be split among the DPS, with tank healers staying with the melee.
Abilities
Zon’ozz doesn’t have all that many abilities, but he’s still a hands-on encounter. Most of your time will be spent watching the Void of Unmaking and bouncing it back and forth. Healers will focus more on clearing away Disrupting Shadows. For once, tanks More >
Phat Loot Phriday: Arrowflick Gauntlets
Dec 9th
When last we left our heroes, Miranda and Throgg split the party to find Abercrombie. The Gilnean and Lolegolas stayed to fight skeletons. The Dungeon Master gnashed his teeth and pulled his hair, but the party remained in separate locations. The DM considered sending a gelatinous cube to kill them all.
“So, that’s him,” Throgg said. He sprawled beneath some bushes above Darkshire. Even the normally unsubtle orc couldn’t believe Abercrombie couldn’t see the hiding spot. After all, orcs wielding immense axes and rippling thews aren’t know for their stealth. “Abercrombie. The man raining destruction down on Darkshire. And we’re going to kill his valkyr.”
“Thanks, Exposition Lad,” Miranda muttered. She looked much more comfortable under the bush, her chin resting on her forearms. “The thing should be back around shortly. Can’t miss her. Big wings, impressive stature inspiring inappropriate thoughts, tendency to raise the dead.”
“You’re talking fast and using big words to confuse me,” Throgg replied.
